Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 215)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

LuvinLife would you be willing to tell me where you got the machine that you can you use to make your own cannabutter and oils? Several years ago my hubby spent about 4 hours cooking butter for me, which is so labor intensive. I am interested in making my own edibles and oils so that machine would be great!
So glad this board was able to help another chronic pain patient.
Welcome to Colorado! I'm originally from a suburb of Chicago but I've been here 25 years, you'll love it here!

FEDS ..still say it's a Schedule one drug, and it's still illegal, totally!!, States are the one oking it's usage. But the FEDS are the top bar...

Cindy, it is illegal to make your own oil. You have to buy 12;000 close loop system and have a license to make it. My husband and I have been in the field for years.

I didn't know that about the oil Wendy, but really the butter is what I want so I can use it for stuff I bake. It just took forever to make, I thought the machine would help

Always happy to share! I bought the magical butter machine for about $175. I do suggest buying directly from MagicalButter's website so you are covered under the warranty. They don't guarantee machines bought from any other retailers. I absolutely LOVE this machine. I made 3 cups of infused coconut oil with a 1/2 oz of flower and it only takes 2 teaspoons to knock you (me) on my butt. I have used 1 cup to make 60 individually dosed peanut butter cookies. I still have 2 cups left in the freezer to use. I have never found an edible at a dispensary where I could buy 60 doses for under the $80, I bought the 1/2 oz that made me 3 cups of oil. I have also made canna butter. You literally put in between 2-5 cups of butter or oil, 1 tablespoon of lechitin granules per cup, then your "herbs" in the kettle, put the lid on it, press the button for butter, oil, or tincture. The machine goes to work with cool lights and beeps 1-2 hours later when it is ready to be strained (they include the strainer and heat safe glove) and stored! If you can wait to purchase until I locate the right email and I can share a code that will save $25 off the purchase price.

Cindy,
Making your own canna-butter and cannabis infused oil (I use coconut oil) for cooking is legal, making the oil concentrates is illegal unless you are using special (and expensive) equipment. I make mine using 3 cups of fat (butter, coconut oil, etc) and 1/2 oz of flower that I decarbed in the oven before adding to the machine. Using lechitin helps the THC bond to the fat. I bought a can of organic soy lechitin at Sprouts for around $11. It is kept by the probiotics at my local store.

I understand medical marijuana is illegal federally, but it is legal in Colorado for both medical and recreational. I never tried anything illegal even in high school. I am the one who is absolutely terrified of doing anything wrong. Now that I am in Colorado where marijuana is legal and I can legally experiment both by my pain doc without violating my pain contract and without doing something against the law, then I am going to give it a chance, just as I have with every treatment option my doctors have suggested for the last 18 years. I know not every pain clinic allows mmj. That is why I was careful to state if your pain treatment plan permits mmj when I discussed my treatment. I truly am not trying to lead anyone off the straight and narrow. Please follow the stipulations of your pain plan.

Hey, JEFF...if the FEDS are the top dogs, tell me why the DEA and all other FED agencies are condoning methadone and sub treatment when it is against FEDERAL law to treat opiate addiction with another opiate? Oh, yeah, money. Have you ever watched the police swat protect the armored truck that picks up the bags of money at a methadone clinic? I mean bag after bag after bag after bag...after bag after bag after bag, etc. IT'S CRAZY!

But, this is what is being done now. Taking legit chronic pain patients off of their regular medications which are helpful and forcing them onto horribly dangerous drugs that are MORE addictive than the original medications they were on in the first place!

Oh, yeah, and since you're an addiction counselor in eastern Tn...what is up with Tn anyways?! I moved there from Florida, and moved right back after 3 weeks! Yes, count them...3 WEEKS! I couldn't find a PM dr to save my life! Not just a PM but I couldn't even get a PCP to take me because I was a PM patient! I ACTUALLY RAN OUT OF A MEDICATION THAT KEEPS ME ALIVE BECAUSE OF THIS!!!! I had to drive all the way back to Florida to get it written and filled...NOT a controlled substance either!!!! I would die within 2 weeks of not having it and I went 8 days because of the drs lack of caring! I actually had an E.R. dr at a large University hospital, huh hmm, not only deny me, wouldn't even give me a Synthroid WHILE I WAS IN THE ACTUAL E.R. (I have NO thyroid btw), but he in my discharge paperwork, he slipped in information on addiction!!!! AND, on my diagnosis, actually wrote opiod addiction as one!!!! I DID NOT GO THERE FOR PAIN OR ASK FOR PAIN MEDS!!!! He only knew I was a chronic pain patient because I was required to tell them of ALL my medications and he then asked why I take such and such!
That is profiling! To ASSUME that I am an addict SOLELY because I have chronic pain and am in treatment for it?! I wonder if because I am from Florida didn't help maybe. He brought that up as well. What a shame, the state of affairs today, of the healthcare community.

It has long been the standard to treat opiate addiction with methadone. Methadone is a synthetic opiate that is easier to deal with.

Jeff I believe you when you said Law enforcement and physicians read these forums, I believe they should too. I was Dr. Hongs patient from 2012-2015 (early 2015). He was working with unified Health Group. I also trusted him to do my facet Inj's., getting relief the Very next day, I was getting the inj's. every 2 months, but when they wore off I would have the worst leg pain; a kind of rebound effect. After not having them for a year the first 6 months off of the facet inj's I could feel the difference...anyway Dr. Hong is very trustworthy, he listens, actually cares. Never had a problem with getting Rx'd because he would check the PDMP Every time!!! U/A were random but at that time only mandatory once a year. I hope nobody messes this up with him. I think as long as he keeps doing what he's been doing, he'll be ok. If he's ok I'm ok, I will be a Colorado resident next month, so I get to see him again. I was worried at first about moving back and finding a Dr.. Lastly, but more importantly is this group,. RIP Micah. There are 215 pages started with his situation. You've helped a lot of ppl my friend, thank you...

I have always wondered why jeff, a tennesse addiction counselor is on a colorado board and is so willing to give medical advice to folks he has never met, mmmm, care to answer jeff! Had the same happen to me with my synthroid med and same dx, even denied that i had another medical condition that is treated by a mayo doctor, yeah, i dont think one would fake being paralyzed for 1 pain pill a day, i love the doc we are seeing but i dont think we need to share his name, dont want people giving him grief, he will NOT prescribe unless u are valid and have records to back it up, i am weaning myself because i want to save my meds for when i have 10 pain, not just severe pain and the govt wants us to pay big bucks for things like methadone! I have a clise family member who is a methadone doctor, not a counselor, it is a schedule one drug and an synthetic opiate as are ALL opiate meds, oxy, percodan, percocet, unless one is smoking opium or drinking laudaium, it is all synthtic,JEFF and yes, i know it is mispelted!

Rainbowflowers, I had the same experience with the same office. I feel he and his staff are on top of things. Thank you all again for being so open and honest. Chronic pain is a very lonely condition and can cause you to become easily isolated. This forum is such a wonderful way to know we aren't alone and there are other people who understand.

Welcome home again Chaos! Have a safe move.

You're an addict. You have a few options- jail, institutions, death. Or narcotics anonymous and a long detox inpatient

do any of you attend a great support group for chronic pain that you would recommend? I live southeast of Denver and would prefer something out my way, but it isn't a deal breaker. I really need to get out and meet other people who understand and also learn what helps others that I may be able to try incorporating into my day to day life. Thanks in advance for any ideas and info you can share
