Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 184)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I've been on it since 1985 and had frequent liver checks and are all good. The reason is that I don't abuse the Hydrocodone. I follow the script. My liver, kidneys and all associated functions are ok. Don't get me wrong, the Morphine works fine but without the Soma, I am not getting the relief I used to get.

I'm with You. I see the date was pretty far back, but Of course 3 years later and I am Also going through the same problems. And worse, I live in Kansas where Idk where these Doc's got there licenses!! Seriously, I have researched and read on the many problems that I have and develop, and turns out that I am always right with tests I need, and things I am experiencing. Simply because I read and research.. Hmmmm but No, don't listen to Me because I am just the dumb patient . And Yeah, junkies always seem to have their hands in the prescription jar!!!

I sure can't believe that a Total Stranger can get on and accuse You of not telling the full truth! Wow, Really??
It's one thing to say, Hey this worked for Me. But then to get Self Righteous and accuse someone of not telling the whole truth. Disgusting!!!

I have had 21 spine surgeries and multiple fusions. I just broke another level, had xray only to find the disc iss gone, I have a grade 3 spondylolethesis with bone grinding against bone. For 25 years I have been on opiates and soma for pain . Opiates no longer work for me. When I had to switch kaiser drs when I moved 9 months ago, my new dr. Took me off soma. I went back today in tears of acute pain with this new break. He refuses to write for soma, the only thing that gives me any relief. He tells me soma is too dangerous a medication for me too take. Why now? I've been on it 25 years. And I have so many severe allergies that I have no other options with regard to muscle relaxers. I have to be careful what I take, and I like to stick with what works. My only hope is to find another Dr willing to write for soma

Hydrocodone ....or oxycodone.....or any pain med combined with acetaminophen, or any other NSAID will do liver damage if more than the recommended dose is taken long term. The limit for NSAID drugs is 3000mg of any NSAID a day. The opioid component will do no liver damage.

If it doesn't get your stomach first. I cannot take anti inflammatories or any of the NSAIDS, naproxen and ibuprofen gives me nose bleeds.. They are sure to give you ulcers.

TJ...yeah we all know that this Soma thing is a crock of S*** ! Just because it became a "street drug" these cops get off on taking it off of the streets so they make it a higher class and the doctors are afraid to write. Also, the State Board of Pharmacists have a lot to do with it too. Here's a link to petition the government against this. Also write to your State Board of Pharmacists.

I have the same basic problem (Cervical Spondylosis and Lumbar Spondylitis) you have and I was prescribed Soma back in 1985 and had taken it up until all of this BS started. I never had surgery for it because my doctor and neurologist said it will be of no benefit or make it possibly worse. I have tried all but one muscle relaxer and none of them work and some even make it worse such as Baclofen. You might ask to try Norflex. I am getting a little relief from the spasms but cannot compare with Soma. We all just have to keep writing to these officials. Just because they don't suffer with pain doesn't mean we have to..

Buck Co is the worst state to get pain meds I got a friend in Kansas and they write his three months at a time I'll find out where he goes .

My doc writes me 2 prescriptions for 120 at a time. One for the current month, and one for the next month. That is the max allowed by the most recent FEDERAL law.
The docs that make you come in every month are just taking more of your money!
If they say every month is the law....they are lying to you.

Thanks for posting the website that everyone should read and sign. U can't complain about things if u aren't willing to do something about them. Also, do u know the current maximums allowed to b prescribed for most narcotics. Many r using the 120 my max per day Although I can't c that anywhere except in Medicare suggestions. Do u have any info? Tx!

It is 120pills of any narcotic... Unfortunately... It used to be 210 than 180 now 120...I hope they don't lower it again... Hope this helped answer your question....
