Oxytrex is an investigational drug currently in clinical trials. It combines the well known opioid agonist oxycodone in the treatment of pain with an ultra-low dose of naltrexone, an opioid antagonist. Naltrexone can have markedly different pharmacokinetics at ultra-low doses which may include, the attenuation of a pre-established opioid tolerance, the prevention of tolerance from the oxycodone in the formulation, and the possible amplification of oxycodone. It is being developed by Pain Ther...

please explain Naltrexone can have markedly different pharmacokinetics at ultra low doses which may include the attenuation of a pre-established opioid the prevention of tolerance from the oxycodone in the formulation, and the possible amplification of oxycodone ## Think of it as wiping the slate clean. Thats what naltrexone does to the opiod receptors thereby "erasing" tolerance and making the receptors more sensitive again ## @John, I don't know if you may be looking for a second opinion on this, but I think the previous post does a good job of putting into perspective how Naltrexone works to prevent the tolerance of opioids. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, a 100mg dose of Naltrexone is said to provide a 96% blockade by the time 24 hours have passed, an...

Oxycodone is is a semi-synthetic opioid medication used for managing moderate to severe acute or chronic pain when other treatments are not sufficient. I have recently stopped taking Percocet. It's been 4 days and the withdrawals are horrible. My doctor prescribed me 50 mg of naltrexone to help. He said its fine to start taking them right away but I see a lot of sites say 10 days to 2 weeks after your last Percocet. Is 4 days enough time. Shouldn't he know what's best? ## Yes, he should, since he is a doctor. However, taking it too soon could cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The NIH lists those withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, seizures, rebound pain, and diarrhea. Have you started taking it, yet? ## Hi there, my last dose of 5mg oxycodone was at noon on a friday. Took 50mg of naltrexone sunday at 6pm. Took away my fatigue and letharic feeling. Feel great. Restless...

I got horribly constipated about 5 days after starting naltrexone 50mg. So I stopped. Are there any known methods of taking naltrexone and preventing constipation? BTW, I have a good diet and never get constipated. ## I take a stool softener plus laxative in the morning and night time. I have the same problem so I asked my local pharmacy and that's what they recommended. Hope this helps. ## Oh this is so interesting, I take low-dose naltrexone, 0.5 mg in the morning, and it gave me diarrhea every day for the first seven days, then it stopped. I only get constipated on the days I don’t take it, but I think that’s because I also take oxycodone three times a day so when I don’t take the LDN in the morning it’s almost like my body is opioid naïve again. ## W...

I was curious if this medication helps with pain from opiate withdrawal? ## Una-contrary! It will make withdrawals much worse. You may use naltrexone at least 7 days after you stop using opiates. ## I've been taking oxycodone for years now. I took the vivitrol shot yesterday without detoxing from pills. I went into a very violent withdrawal for about 12 hours. no sleep at all. I am still in withdrawal because of getting off pills. But if i took a pill, would it help with my bad withdrawals or will naltrexone throw me into a worse intense withdrawal? ## Instructions for naltrexone suggest no opiate use for 7 days. I start in 2 days and have taken an opiate maybe 5 times over the last 3 days. Will there be any reaction still because there is no addiction? I wouldn't have thought i...

Remember the FDA approves Hyslinga re to replace hydrocodone and the are putting naltrexone in oxys the bait n switch ## @Samo, One theory I had in regards to the thread question/title is that certain side effects could potentially be attributed to the variations of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) different manufacturers use in the composition of each tablet. Many ingredients I researched are generally regarded as safe, but others including dyes, still remain questionable for our health and well being. However, another thought as to why Hydrocodone could be making you sick, but not Oxycodone - is that if you're body is used to having a stronger narcotic like Oxycodone, then abruptly switching over to something much weaker in essence (such as Hydrocodone) is bound to bring abo...

Does anyone know what the new Oxytrex tablets look like? ## Hello Mary! How are you? Oxytrex is not available, yet. It is currently still in clinic trials. It combines Oxycodone with a low dose Naltrexone and so far, has shown to provide better pain relief, with less risk of physical dependence. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you have a tablet you're questioning? If so, please post back with the markings and description, so I can research it for you. Thanks! ## Looks like an oxycodone green 15 ir. how effective is embeda and what pharmacy carries it in lafayette, louisiana ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Embeda contains Morphine coupled with Naltrexone, to prevent the abuse of opiates, while someone is taking it. Morphine, however, is a very effective analgesic. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I do not, however, have any information on which pharmacies carry it. Has it been prescribed for you? ## I take oxycodone 10 and now embeda will the naltrexone. I want to know if is going to make my pain meds not work for my pain anymore I also have severe hypothyroidism is it safe

I've been on Contrave about a mouth twice daily (when I remember to take them) I forgot I wasn't supposed to and took one Percocet pill a short time ago for bad tooth ache. What can I expect to experience for side effects. I'm quite panicked right now ## There is no reason to panic, if you didn't suffer any adverse effects while taking it, then you should be fine. The main issue is that the Naltrexone can neutralize the Oxycodone in the Percocet, while the Bupropion tends to increase its effectiveness. Thus, if the Percocet helped you, then there should be nothing to worry about. However, it would be best to inform your healthcare provider, just in case. The FDA classifies Percocet as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side ef...

What pain medications are safe to take on Contrave? I have been taking Tylenol arthritis and glucosamine daily and am now starting the 2 and 2 this week. Also large hard to pass stools, so I'm taking laxatives as well, but don't want to harm my liver. I feel great on Contrave. I was on Adipex and all it did was make my mouth very dry and make me agitated. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Contrave contains Bupropion and Naltrexone, the latter of which neutralizes opiates, such as Oxycodone, and Hydrocodone. So, you can take Tylenol with it, unless your doctor instructs you not to do so. Glucosamine is considered to be a supplement, so any possible interactions between it, and most medications, have not been studied extensively. Is your doctor aware that you are taking it? Whether or ...

I am trying to identify PRECISELY what is in this pill, I am used to taking regular roxi 30's. However this time, they look slightly different, it is WHITE, no not an extremely pale blue, I put it under a very bright fluorescent light and it IS in fact, pure white, with no speckles whatsoever. I cannot locate my camera to take a picture of the ones in my possession however they look quite identical to these (the bottom picture), however as I said, they ARE white. problem here is I have been reading up on how they may be mixing naltrexone with oxycodone, in fact wrapping the individual beads of oxycodone in the naltrexone to neutralize it if crushed or chewed, however I have found that even taking one normally *i.e.* simply swallowing not chewing which is my normal method of taking m...

Can taking naltrexone cause a false positive for oxycodone in a urine test? ## No, no, no, you will have severe withdrawals! Naltrexone will push out the opioid from your system and you will end up clean from it, but it will be heavy. Be prepared if you decide to do this. ## Yes. I had firsthand experience with this. Unfortunately in my case I had to spend two months in jail after 2 failed (pos for oxycodone) immunoassay urine tests. When (finally!) sent to a lab for GC/MS they came back clean. The first dirty was while I was taking 50mg oral naltrexone, the second ten days after I'd been given the vivitrol injection (325mg I believe). ## I'm on naltrexone n I just tested positive for oxycodone. I had them send it to the lab. That should show I wasn't taking oxys right??? ##...
