severe bipolar disorder 11 yrs. diagnosed, one of many meds. at 80mg. hard to adjust with symptoms like a bad hangover. not that i drink anymore but dont have high hopes for this drug at 20 60 or 80mg because of reactions ## Being removed from risperdal and put on geodan. For first few days mild headaches. Tolerating stress better. Bipolar ## Typically, side effects tend to reach their peak around 4 to 5 weeks of taking a medication at one steady dosage, then they taper off in severity, until they disappear entirely, so if you just started it, then it is far too soon to judge how well it is, or isn't going to work for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Geodon as possibly including nausea, headache, anxiety, weight gain, cough, and runny nose. Ref: Geodon Information How ...

I have a bi-polar condition and was on seroquel for about 10 years with success. It started giving out this past summer & now my doctor put me on 80mg of geodon, 4 lithobid. I feel I am (in-between) bouncing off walls and my vision is screwed up. I don't think I can live this way. Any suggestions? ## I am also bipolar, was on seroquel for 3yrs. I just got switched to geodon myself about 3 weeks ago at 80mg a day. I feel the same bouncing around everywhere. Sounds like we need all the first hand understanding we can get. ## I was taking Seroquel also and my Dr. switched me to Geodon because she is trying to help me with my weight problem since being on all of these meds. and getting clean $ sober. I put on 80 lbs. that's depressing to think about with or without a chemical em...

They are both antipsychotics, but the Geodon is approved for treating bipolar disorder, so there's a chance that it may help her more. But you should likely sit down with both doctors and discuss their reasoning for their suggestions, then you can decide from there. They both have similar si...

is Geodon like speed if u are not sycotic or bipolar ## Hello, Unfortunately I'm not sure how this medication will effect you, no matter what you are taking it for- since everyone reacts to medication differently. I personally do not recommend taking any prescription medication, no matter the effect- unless it was prescribed to you for a specific medical reason by a medical doctor. If you have been prescribed this medication and would like more information, I'll be glad to help! You can learn more about this drug on the page for Geodon Details

I typed in for information on Geodon and now I have questions about it. My doctor just prescribed it for me this week.Too soon to tell after a couple of days, but Geodon.com says it's for Schizophrenia and/or Dementia which usally comes with Alzheimer's. It's taken me a day and a night to digest what I've learned about what it's for. I've known about me being Bipolar for about 10 yrs. and I'm 55 yrs. old. I don't know what I feel; sad, disappointed, thinking I was doing better. I'm truley at loss until I can talk to my doctor in a month. If any one else knows any thing more about Geodon please post It. Can you take Methadone and Geodon together or will it hurt you in any way? That's all I need to know. ## Hello, Gravie! How are you? No, it is usually not recommended because taking them together creates the risk of your developing an irregular heart rhythm, which can potentially be life threatening, according to the FDA. Anyone that has an existing cardiac condition is at increased risk. Has your doctor prescribed them both?

Hi everyone, Im hoping to get some insite to who ever is able to give it. I started on Geodon in Septmeber on 2016 and I started that to help with OCD and moodiness. I am 27 years old and I am in pretty good health excpet for the issues I deal with on a daily basis. In November, exactly on Thanksgiving Day I started getting very fatiged. To the point where I couldnt keep my eyes open. I just wanted to lay down. My eyes felt like lead. I then started with loose stool..(sorry, TMI) and then a few weeks later it just got progresivly worse. I started to notice my hands and feet would get extrmely sweating. Almost to the point where my socks were a bit damp. I also started with chills. My lips would qiver like I was cold but I felt totally fine as far as temp. This has been ongoing since Tha...

My doctor started me on Geodon 80 mg about a month ago. It doesn't seem to be completely agreeing with me. I feel sedated and have blurry vision. Has anyone else experienced this? ## my doctor started me just 5 days ago. i take it with lamictal. Well I am just now reading about it and so far not too happy. About three hours after taking it i have to go to sleep. No choice. Today I can't shake it. Slept 31/2 hrs and still tired, after 10 hrs last night. Is this the geodon or do i have something seriously wrong? I am bipolar ## I'm sorry, my last reply was all about my problem. Since then have spoke to my doctor. He said to play around with the dose (without going over 80) like take 40 in am and 40 pm, etc. or different combonation. As long as it calms me and gives me more ene...

I have been taking Geodon for a few years now, 20 mg twice daily. Lately I seem to get very anxious after about six hours and need to take three pills daily. My insurance will only send me enough for two pills daily. I know that the half life is very short for Geodon. I am thinking about having my psychiatrist switch me to Abilify which has a long half life. My concern is how difficult it will be to make the switch. Will I still get withdrawal symptoms from Geodon even after my body gets used to Abilify? I would like any input from anyone who has made the switch. ## Hello Terry, Unfortunately because the active ingredients are different it is likely you will experience the withdrawal symptoms to some degree. It is difficult to say to which extend you will be experiencing the symptoms as...

I was on Phentermine for years, which I know isn't how it's designed, but every time I relocated the doctor asked for a list of my current meds and I put it on there, so it kept cycling. In addition, I am on a few bipolar meds and Adderall. Approximately six months ago, my doctor decided that it was time to stop the Phentermine as it was a short-term drug and I had been on it for years. I was so scared of weight gain as Geodon was adding enough pounds alone. It took nearly four months to taper fully off. My experience (and for many people I know) is that when you begin Adderall it decreases your appetite, but that doesn't last forever. I'm getting a bit of my appetite back (I'm not restricting or starving myself) but I think I could be doing better or how I was doing...

I was switched to risperidone from Geodon about a month and a half ago. Since then, I have been experiencing problems with nausea and the feeling that I need to gag/dry heave. This occurs on a daily basis and can last all day long. Thursday, the 5th, my pdoc told me to stop taking the risperidone to see if this med was causing the problem. I woke up about 5:30 this morning after a tossing and turning sleep and felt just really out of sorts. Not nauseous, but somehow like my body was wanting to turn inside out, maybe like when you ache with a fever really bad. Could this be a withdrawal effect of stopping 1 mg risperidone. It seems like such a low dose, and I don't know if this is the cause or not and don't want to go through it any more if I can help it. ## Well, Risperidone is ...

Has treatment for Autism been considered in using Geodon? ## Do you mean using Geodon to treat it, or are you wondering if it may contribute to autism? The FDA does warn that Geodon may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, sedation, headache, somnolence, mood changes, and weight changes. Can you please post back and clarify?
