I've been taking 40gs of long acting and 240 of short acting daily for several years. The last month before converting to suboxone I tapered down. 12 hours after my last dose of long acting morphine it took 8mg of suboxone and started a3x a day 8ng of suboxone. I feel great. No side effects except 1st day had a bad headache. ## Wow! Those were very high dosages, so I'm glad that the transition went so smoothly for you. I am switching from suboxone 8mg/2ng strips 2 times daily. I gate the sub. I am switching to methadone tomorrow. I have not taken sub since last night at approx. 8:00 p m. How much morphine will i need to keep from being sick until tomorrow. I start methadone tomorrow. I am 60 yrs young. ## You would be fine overnight. Adding morphine and then starting methadone could put you into an overdose. Please be safe. Talk to your doctor. Don't just ever play around with medicine.

I took one 8mg/2mg sublingual suboxone strip yesterday, breaking it up into quarters. I took the last quarter of the strip around midnight. Will it still be a full 72 hours before 50mg morphine will effect me? ## Yes, otherwise the Naloxone will block the effects of the Morphine. I understand oxycodone is 1.5x stronger than morphine, but does that take the oral bioavailability into account? I've seen someone say 20mg of oxycodone is equivalent to 30mg of morphine, but is that taking into account that only 30% of the morphine is absorbed by the body whereas with oxycodone it's about 80% So when taking 30mg of morphine you're body is really only getting about 9mg but when taking 20mg of oxycodone you're getting 16mg of it absorbed into your body. I think I am going to be switched from 30mg of Morphine to 10mg of Oxycodone, in terms of bioavailability that means instead of my body getting 9mg of morphine, I'll be getting 8mg of oxycodone instead. I have been taking 60mg of Morphine daily for a year. This past week I took 3-4 8mg Dilaudids daily. Last night I went back to 60 mg Morphine. For the past year I have been taking Exalgo 16mg 5 pills in the morning with 8mg of Dilaudid for b/t pain. I had a severe back injury 4 yrs. ago. In the past I have taken Oxyicontin w/roxy & Mophine Sulfate w/a low dose morphine for b/t . Each pair for a little over a year. The Oxycontin was the best for my pain, I was able to function better. what is the length of duration, strength and usage of 30mg morhpine compared to 8mg Dilaudid? ## Everyone's body reacts differently to different types of opiates. For me, 30mgs of Morphine doesn't do much for my pain, buts does make me neauseus. On the other hand, 8mgs of Dilauded helps control my pain well for 3 to 6 hours. ## It can also depend on the specifics of each medication, are either of them time released or are they regular release?
