Suboxen is given for opiate addiction or given if opiates are being discontinued so that the patient doesn't go through withdrawals. So withdrawals shouldn't be experienced at all. If a headache or anything is felt it's possible the subocen doses has to increase. You, actually, should feel great. That is the experience of most patients using suboxen to come off of opiates. The only time this will not be accurate is if a chronic pain disease is the reason for the narcotics. Suboxen is not a pain killer so if you are living with chronic pain, especially a pain disease such as RSD. Suboxen may end up sending u to the er. It is not a pain killer, also, the suboxen blocks opiates. So u won't be able to grab a couple of pills as the pain level continues to increase, since to suboxen Will block the opiate medication.

How long do the withdrawals last? My wife waited until the 4th day after her last methadone dose and took one 8mg suboxone strip. Now she is experiencing horrible withdrawals and I have no idea what to do to help her. Any suggestions or anything?

Well I've been a big user of both heroin in the past and now methodone and I've tried suboxone too early each time and it was horrible. If you have a really serious heroin addicition I wouldn't take suboxone for atleast a day and a half. I also waited five days with methodone and it still sent me into a way worse withdrawal. I had to get back to the methodone right away. I swear I laid in bed with tears rolling down my face all night.

They say that you should be going threw withdrawals before taking the suboxone. I don't know how much of that is true or not, or if they just want to make sure that you really do want to quit. I had taken an oxycodone the morning that I got suboxone, and I didn't go through any type of withdrawals, it just made me feel better. I've been taking suboxone now for a little over a month 1 to 2 8mgs a day. I feel great! It was the best decision I ever made. I haven't had any cravings and I feel like I have my life (and money) back. Good luck to you. I wouldn't worry about how long it had been I would just make sure you don't take them together, but then again I'm not a doctor...just my experience.

I was addicted to narcotics and I two was scared to death to take suboxone b/c of all the story's i heard about going into worse withdrawl, but about 3 weeks ago i couldn't take the 'diease' anymore and decided to finally give suboxone a try. I waited about 30 hrs from when i last used and i felt better the next day and havent touch opiates since, in fact I don't even crave it. My doctor gave me the 8 mg. pills and told me to take one and if I didn't feel better to take another half a few hours later and so on untill I felt normal. It took me about 3 pills over a 20 hour period, but I was out of bed eating and shower soon after. You just have to be able to get through the first day. Trust me, I know how bad it is, but it's worth it. Now I take 2 pills a day and sometimes only 1 1/2. I hope this helps. good luck to you and your wife;)
