I just tested positive for meth in a UA, I didnt use any, are there any meds that could cause a positive. I take l-thyroxine, lisinopril and celexa daily. I'm also taking zantac for heartburn and I take Tylenol daily, also took some allergy pills, and vicks inhauler . would that cause a false positive.. please advice

Actually, yes there are A LOT of over-the-counter meds that show up positive on urine drug screens as amphetamines, including allergy medication Benedryl & cough suppressants/decongestants like Claritin D or Sudafed also show up as amphetamines on urine drug screens...there is a long list of ingredients from multiple medications both prescription & over-the-counter that all cause the same result & the only thing you can do is to be proactive & keep a running list of any kinds of medications you take & bring them along with you for your drug screens; there are more in-depth, more sensitive tests available that can actually pin-point exactly what substance it was that caused the positive result, so if/when you do fail the screen, be ready to submit your list of meds that you have taken over a given period of time & also have those bottles with the ingredient labels available so that you can investigate it further & clear your name from being accused of using Meth or Amphetamines illegally...good luck!

I tested positive for meth and i am on prescription med, Zoloft, Visteril, Trazadone, Requipt, Neroutin. I had a cold and took OTC medicine that compares to Tylenol cold and head congestion severe. I've tried looking up the ingredients and I'm not having any luck. DCS took my daughter and now they are trying to say beings I tested positive for Meth I have to go in a 30 day treatment program. This is crap cause I have even stopped taking a prescription to help me and this is what I get to deal with now. PLEASE HELP!!!!! I want my daughter back.............

I went and done a dot drug test and doctor called me today and said I tested positive for methenphedamine and amphetamine I do not take street drugs but I am prescribed hydrocodeine 5 mg and sometimes oxycontin depending how bad my back pain is!! Would any of those pills cause me to test positive? I am seriously shocked!! Someone please help me!!

Trazodone will show up as meth, I had a similar situation, but my doctor belived me and sent urine baxk for a more detailed test, they are out there, but more expensive. My Dr. call personalitlyto aployize.

Yes. But its not actually a "false" positive its a positive. The oxy will cause a positive drug test for opiates. Even though they were prescribed and are not illegal in and of themselves they can impair your driving as they warn on the bottle. If you had taken the Oxy before driving they would pick up on that in the drug test. BUT that drug will stay in your system and show on a drug test for 3 full days even though you'd be long past being impaired after a matter of hours. So, they can give you a dui for driving on Oxy and I'm guessing they saw somethimg in your driving that led them to suspect you were under the influence of something. My advice to you would be to have the sample tested so that you can know what the levels were exactly because if you took it the day before it would still show on the test but obviously you would be long past what would be considered impaired.
