My vet will give a prescription, however, she cannot afford to lower the price of torbutrol 5 mg. Right now I am paying 107.00 for 10 pills and my guy takes it twice sometimes 3 times a day so I really need to get it cheaper. My husband is disabled and on the liver transplant list so I am already paying for medications that are horrible priced. Can anyone tell me where to find it cheaper?

Hello, Jenny! How are you? I'm sorry that the medication is so expensive and about your husband's condition. I hope he gets his transplant very soon.

As to getting it cheaper, have you tried any of the pet medication websites?

You can usually order from them and have your vet fax in a prescription. The prices are generally much cheaper, since they don't have the overhead that a veterinary office does. I used to get medications and flea treatments for my fur babies that way.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I found butorphanol which is the generic brand for 70.00 for a. 1 month supply (2.5 mg 1 x a day ) from Diamondback drugs on line. They are a large formula pharmacy that supplies meds to vets and vet hospitals and will make the exact dose you need You will need to have your vet write a perscription and send it to diamondback or have your vet send them a perscription. My vet was charging me $300.00 for the exact same drug

I have just read a note on the internet saying their dog takes Torbutrol. My dog has a collapsed trachea and Torbutrol is no longer available here in England because the USA has a ban on the export of the drug. Are you here in the UK or elsewhere in the world?

I am desperate to get hold of Torbutrol because no other med works the same. My dog (Yogi) is now taking codeine but it is not effective and I know the cough will kill him if I can't give him Torbutrol. My veterinarian will give me a prescription but it's no good if I can't find a pharmacy who will fill it.

I know the pills are expensive but that doesn't matter to me.

If you can help I would be very happy. Sorry to have bothered you.
