Suboxone Abuse
(Newest replies first)

Updated

My son has been on suboxone for over 1 year now. He was a herion addict for over 12 years. Been clean off and on during that time. I have seen a personality change in him which is almost intolerable. It is like he is fine one minute and then goes off the wall the next. Has anyone who has been on suboxon or knows someone who has been seen a personality change.

It sounds like she may be taking more of Suboxone than directed. Look up signs of Suboxone Abuse and it will tell you exactly what to look for

I get sick of PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT RELEVANT Giving their ignorant opinion on something that is none of their business! Your statistics are 100% bull---- Also, Subs are intended as Maint. Therapy just as Methodone. ( A Real Nurse)

Started out taking hydrocodone for back pain.as time went on I developed a strong tolerance. Soon 3 or 4 roxy 30,s a day.a friend introduced me to suboxine. It did get me off pain meds.and the mental addiction off the high. But now I'm struggling to get off suboxine.i feel it mite have saved my life.I was on the road to intravenous drug use.so I knew I had to make a change.but God please help me drop suboxine. My prayers go out to anyone struggling with opioid addiction.

All the talk about addiction ha your referring to drug pushers.Who do you think the Doctors are? They just do what they are trained to do and that is what you are all doing. You have to take control of your life.Get away from the medical model.Learn about eating health foods clean water open your minds to the possibility of change. This is the intentional destruction of Amerika and the West.

Hello James! I, too, was an opoid addict (6 fiorinal with codeine a day for 2 years). I finally went to the doctor for my 'regular' visit and told my doctor I wanted to quit. He immediately put me on 8/2 Suboxone. I, too, thought all was well but stupid me for not researching this evil substance before taking it. I was on it for 7 months and just recently weaned myself off completely. I should say that I cut my amount down to .25 and took that for 5 days then quit cold turkey. As of today it has been 4 days of not taking it and I'm pretty much ok as far as symptoms. My detox symptoms are lethargy, weak legs during the day and RLS at night. But they haven't been debilitating. I'm just sharing my experience but please know that I completely GET what you were trying to convey...the agony you experienced humbled you and 'humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less'. In a nutshell, no more King Baby :-). I'm happy for you and I'm happy for myself.

I am going through this now with my fiance, I was on the internet trying to research and saw this. It has been two weeks of hell, he is a total different person, has even been talking about leaving me. Very rude and hateful, also says rude things. Totally out of character. He was on methadone before, we have been together almost 4 years.he was very loving , and nice. I have never seen anything like this in my life. Have you figured anything out?

Hi Rush, Congratulations on deciding to get clean. If you go to the suboxone website you will find a search thing there that you can enter your zipcode to find suboxone drs in your area. Also some phyciatrists can prescribe subs. You can also search " suboxone doctors in such and such an area) Don,t be shy about asking questions over the phone like if you should be in wd when you come in or will dr prescribe sub the same day and price and insurance.
There are also clinics which I don,t know much about and private drs that can prescribe subs. Good Luck

People use opiates for many different reasons. Not always to feel high. I was on opiates for two years. Hid it well from my husband , children and other family member. Nobody had a clue I was insufflating Oxys in the bathroom. I still seemed normal. Cooked, cleaned, home work, children , meet the teacher, coached soccer, went the gym. U wouldn't think for a second I was a so called junkie. I had my reasons for doing them. At the time it seemed like there was no other option. I didn't ever mean to become opiate dependant. Once u become opiated dependant , people like urself label us and it's not right. Keeping up with the cost and the lies u tell ur family catches up to u. But now my brain in sick and needs them. It's a brain disease . Like any disease, it needs treated. Starting opiates was a bad choice and it made me become a liar ,a fake ,a disappointment. But if I stopped I would be sick. And any mother knows that if the mother of the house gets sick for a day ,all hell breaks loose . There's no way I could withdrawal and maintain my responsibilities . Suboxone allows me to get better without interrupting my life or anybody's life that my life effects. I dont get high from it and if I decide to relapse , I better think again cause it will send me into auto withdrawal. When that other person called u uneducated she/ he nailed it.

On the other hand, maybe it buys the addict a year... or two to get himself/herself together. Find a job. Find an apartment.... with a nice TV and laptop in the bedroom so when he/she is a little more stable, the attempt at finally getting off the subs can at least be more comfortable.

Great post!! Obviously you "get" what I was saying. I didn't know what living was and at the end of my 35+ year run I was looking for places in the house to tie the noose. I'm still "clean" today except for my suboxone dose and I have no plans on getting off of it. I have so many terrible memories of my life that I could easily write a few books. Today I can enjoy the great things in life I always took for granted. I live in L.A. and there are so many awesome things in this city to enjoy. I remember saying that I couldn't IMAGINE life without narcotics. When my doctor switched me from 240 5mg Oxycodones (I was doing 50 at a time and 20 more 3 hours later) to Methadone I thought my ship had arrived and I was set up for life. Man ......was I WRONG!!! The Methadone (like everything else) just increased until I was doing 10 40mg wafers at once. I reached a point where I couldn't keep up and my "hustle" was GONE!! After 35+ years I FINALLY had come to my crossroad. And it was die or quit. I went 23 days withdrawing from the Methadone before I was introduced to Suboxone. It LITERALLY saved my life. I knew it was the answer for me 30 minutes after my first dose. I just didn't realize all the "other" things I would have to deal with.

I'm sorry but ur not suppose to be do any drugs while on suboxone at all! I've been on it for almost 2 yrs now and not once have I touched anything else! So the fact that he is taking suboxone in pm and H in am is not right at all! He needs to find a doc who can give suboxone and then he will go every month and get a refill! But will be on suboxone only! My brother is a recovering H addict! He has been on it since I was little and I got him in to my suboxone doctor and he is doing so good. Couldn't believe how awesome he is doing! He actually tried to quit by himself cuz he had court for selling H and they gave him 7 yrs if he messes up at all! So after a month or so of him trying to be sober and it not working I got him in to my doc and he hasn't even touched H since then is been about a year now! So I would do some research and find a doc and get him in! We travel 5 hour to and from out dr once a month! So it can be a pain but it's worth it! Good luck!! Hope it all works out!!
