i am 62 yr old , suffering from rheumatoid arhtritis for the past 20 years.underwent knee replacement for both legs in 2005 i.e. 3 years back. got infected in the left knee in 2006 i.e. 2 years back. i was on vancomycin for three weeks. it did not help. the spacer in the knee was removed and i was given antibiotics for three weeks. it did not work either. suddenly i developed acute pain and cement implant with gentamycin beads was placed in my knee. it was infected again within a week of the operation. for six weeks i was on antibiotics again. the infection got cleared. now RA has aggrated too much. shoulder , wrist , back, neck.in short all the joints have become stiff accompanied with pain, chills and shivers.immunity has come down... now i am advised rituximab..i am apprehensive of the new drug.. i am not aware of the compatibility or the side effects.. it would be of great help if someone could advise me on this matter..
