(Newest replies first)

Updated

Been off Gabby for 5 weeks. Feeling pretty good except still have tightness in chest off and on. Anyone else have chest pain?
Was on high dose for quite a while. Got off it too fast.

I weaned myself off nice n' slow. My thought concepts are normal again, no severe mood swings, diet n' appetite normal again. Eucerin skin calming creme w/ a drop of Geranium Oil stopped the stinging, burning, stabbing, aching and ITCH! All that drug does is generate money for the makers / sellers / quacks as we pay and itch, NOT ME! I haven't used it in weeks and my sleep is normal again. Told my Dr. he can use it for a few months then we can discuss it. Don't dare stop abruptly, cut back slowly. I wouldn't allow an Animal to use it.

I lowered Dose last night from 600 before bed to 300 and had a good night's sleep , no need for ice bag or warm water bag on top of head , forehead , above eye to quell V1 nerve itch and abnormal sensations .
Dosage recommendations may work one way for some but not for all I'm tending to feel with some of these recommendations discovered prior to approval for usage .

Yes I get the chest pains too, not a medication meant to just stop taking it out of the blue. If I take it 3* s day like I should, no less, I feel ok. Any less I'm not going anywhere

Guess not. Used to being ignored. I am miserably depressed and dependant on to many meds. I can't sleep well. Can't or won't even get out of bed unless I have all of my medications. I am screwed. I don't want to do anything not even complain about it anymore. I am afraid of....

When I was put on gabapentin a year and a half ago, I was told it was safe non narcotic. It isnt one, but SHOULD BE. And it's safe until you can't make it to the pharmacy for a few days, then the WD'S KICK IN and it's anything but safe. You can have seizures even if your not taking it for that. I take 600mg *3 daily and if I miss a dose my body will let me KNOW about it! I don't even try to ween off anymore, it's worse than my benzo withdrawal symptoms, sucks. I have decided that the benefits I get from gabapentin outweigh the costs, which is WD's if I stop taking it. So I don't.... anyone else feel where I'm coming from? Anyone?

Yep. When I discontinue my gabapentin 600mgs 3*a day I have severe withdrawal symptoms. I have chest pains after a couple days and my heart races. I get severe panic attacks, where I think I'm going to have a heart attack or a seizure. I was lied to. Gabapentin WD's are bad if you've been on them awhile. Magnesium seems to help, even if it's a placebo effect, alot of people swear by it and say it takes away 90% or so of WD symptoms. Mag and I use Clonazapam to help until I finally give in and go back to loading up on neurotin. F***ING neurotin??!! Are they serious? What a joke, they are extremely addictive physically even if you don't feel any pleasurable effects from it, you tske it for a year or so and your body and mind scream for some if you don't want to take any or ran out of it. Gabapentin should be a controlled substance. Some doctors might be getting sued for malpractice if they don't wake up. Ass's.

Just B P meds! Not really a pain more of an ache. Not bad and with all the other withdrawals it is lessoning some! I was on such a high dose for quite a few months. My Dr said it will take time!! Take one day at a time!!

Hello, Sandy! How are you?

You should have this checked out by your doctor to be safe, there are many things that could cause chest pain and some of them are very dangerous, such as heart conditions.

The typical withdrawal effects of Gabapentin are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression, anxiety, seizures and diarrhea.

There's a chance the chest pain is associated, but after 5 weeks, most symptoms should be gone.

Are you any other medications?
