what pharmacy carries ethex brand generic oxycontin?

Why will no one answer the question of wether or not the ethex are at any other pharmacy besides walgreens? If you dont think they exist please dont respond. Im only interested in hearing from the people that know what they are talking about.

I'm just trying to give ppl info that they might want or need,I've been on the meds for about 10 years or so & I guess I'm sensitive to certain ingredients & Pain is hard for some ppl & Doc's to get to a level both are happy with,I think for as long as I've been on them my tolerance is pretty good I'd rather not take more meds if I can help it..

sickofpain; thanks for info: i'll call and complain. if you are interested in finding out for yourself-google ethex and oxycontin or apotex and oxycontin and you will get the answers you are looking for. Believe me i go to walgreens and get the old ocs each month for the past 4 months now. if you have the walgreen's prescription card, they will only cost u $10.41 each. u rnt getting pain relief cuz u don't have ur long lasting meds. the 15s r merely breakthrough meds.

If U R having Problems -w- the New Purdue OP's Oxycontin's this is the place to Contact to Voice how it's working or Not & Side Effects,I wrote them & the FDA,maybe if we band together they will Listen to reason,Hope it helps...

Thanks Irenewilde,I did read some of the posts but one person said one thing & another would say that wasn't right & became frustrated,my 15mg's work ok but when I've been taking 80mg OC's but only have a few Crap OP's & not many 15mg's left it's no wonder I'm not getting the right amt of pain relief,I was on 3 80mg daily Oxy's & 4 15mg Oxy's for breakthrough pain every day so lil wonder I've been feeling the way I am & I just wanted to get the best info I can find so I can try & get the Pain Under Control ASAP,Thanks Again.

sickofpain---if you haven't read this entire thread, than go to the beginning and read it. The old oc's are still around at your local walgreens. You need to ask for generic oxycontins made by ethex or apotex and they are the old formula ocs that you are used to. Also, go online and read up on your meds. There are different methods that you can use that may help you. For example, if your 15 mgs are not working like you think they should, I have read that taking them when you eat say fried foods or fatty foods will allow them to work to their full potential. Also, my dr told me like 6 months ago to buy robotussin dm cough syrup and take with my medication and it would allow the medication to work to it's full potential. Just do some research. If you are depending only on the 15mgs for pain relief then try to get the most out of them until you find your long lasting meds. And again, just go to walgreens and ask for the generic. read earlier replies to get full info.

I'm looking for a Good Generic for 80mg Oxy's after getting the OP's which made me sick & did lil for my Pain & then I herd there's a Good OC Generic but I'm having a hard time finding out The Brand I'm gonna need to know when I get my new script,my Dr gave me a script & found out when I went to PU it was for Morphine & the 1 & only time I took one I had trouble breathing so I didn't take anymore & took the whole bottle back to the Dr,I'm not sure why I was given it again & had the Dr said anything at my apt I could've said something right then,I didn't bother to call my Dr I knew how crappy I felt -w- the OP's & at least I had 15mg OXy's to take & did my best to get through the pain & day's..I have written to Purdue Co & Voiced My Opion as well as a few others & I hope the Un-do the OP's so I can get back to living -w- my pain better,this AM I woke up in Major Pain maybe the weather was to blame & I'm hoping for brighter day's....Any Help -w- the Generic GOOD OC's,a Brand Name,ect would be appreciated...

And by the way, to all the people who are claiming that the new OP formulation is released over 12 hours as opposed to the Old OC formulation which releases over 6-8 or 8-10 hours nothing could be farther from the truth. Do some research and see for yourself.

The FACTS ARE: The old OC formulation was made to release it's active ingredients over 12 hours. Look up the old inserts from your older OC prescriptions or read online. It probably feels more like 6-8 hours to most people becuase you reach peak plasma levels at around 4.5 hours, and also because of oxycodone's relatively short half-life. However the new OP formulation is designed to release it's active oxycodone ingredients over a 24 hour period (probably because of all the plastic crap embedded inside the pill, this is the closest they could come to in terms of trying to match the release time-frame of the old OC formulation).

Look online for yourself or do a google search of OP formulation 24 hours. Or new Oxycontin formulation 24 hours. You will only find one or 2 articles that claim this fact. That's also really shady, why purdue is trying to basically hide this fact that the old pill released its active ingredients over 12 hours, but the new OP releases it's active ingredients over 24 hours. All the new articles on the new formulation just say that the new and old formulations are bio-equivalent, which just means that they both have 80mg of oxycodone as their active ingredients, but says nothing about the huge difference of 12 to 24 hours between the OC and OP formulation.
Also it's a fact that the inactive ingredients of a pill affect how well the active ingredients get absorbed into your bloodstream. for most people on the old OC formulation they were probably absorbing anywhere between 65 to 90% of the old OC formulation. However the new OP formulation most people are getting closer to 20-40% total absorption rate of the active oxycodone ingredient, which is why a lot of people are claiming little to zero pain relief or are experiencing severe withdrawl symptoms. By changing the inactive ingredients to make the new OP formulation supposedly abuse proof, Purdue incidentally reduced the total absorption rate of the old OC tablets. I would venture to say that most people on the new OP's whose bodies are having a hard time breaking down the all the embedded plastic in the new formulation are prob not even getting close to 20% absorption rate and are probably closer to 5-10% absorption of the active oxycodone ingredient.
No wonder on other country has accepted this new s--ty OP formulation. Canadians, Europeans, Austrailians, and even Mexicans get to stay on old OC formulation while Purdue is making us in the US their guineapigs with this new OP experiment. All the while, that reall CPP who have never abused OC are suffering, the real abusers (who will abuse anything, whether it's OC, OP or whatever else they can get their hands on) are already cracking Purdue's abuse-proof formula and nothing is chaning for them. If anything this OP formula has driven down the street price of OP and will make this medication more generally available at lower price for abusers to get their hands on and abuse.

Good will Overcome Evil, if you believe, trust and obey Gods words, He has Blessed me in giving me two years, when I only had a few months with the Cancer I have, Please don't give up. I hope And Pray, that all who is in need will receive a Blessing from God today. Please say a Prayer, believe, ask and you will receive. God is our answer! I love you all and hope this help eases your worries, as it has mine. I never know when my Chemo will stop working and Cancer will again take over, but we all do not know what today or tomorrow will bring, just take you Prescription to the drug store, after 2 yrs mine knows me, ask for the Generic OCs, if they do not, or can not fill this ( I usually go to CVS first, if they don't have my medicine in stock, I use Walgreens) then go to another drug store. I myself will, like I've said, take what I get, because it has been said this is same thing, I know some different ingredients, but if they claim its changed in a good way, not for me by the way cause side effects not had before) but all said and done, if I take my medicine exactly, no abuse. For me) then I should be ok, right? If not, a lot of family and friends have seen me while taking the old generic and the new brand and have the notes I take when side effects are different, well who would be to blaim if this medicine DID cause me harm, when it was told to not worry, well we will see. With all the lawsuits going on right now, what I know is Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aide chose to be seperate in this lawsuit and so maybe that's the problem not getting the Generic OCs, which is cheaper in price for my Medicaide to pay, and I wish Medicade would step in and tell Purdue and anyone else out there, this new drug, OPs, is not working the way the OCs do, and you can read for yourself about what is going on, I am not an abuser and I do not judge others, so if you get or have your prescription, like myself, when one is out of what I am trying to get filled, I go to CVS first, then Walgreens and have for the past few years with Chronic Cancer Pain, No Cure, so just go to the drugstore, ask what they have and get your answer there. I know this is not what u want to hear, but being so sick and in so much pain, I can lead you to some information that can answer this for you. I will post at end of this, I have to thank all for your concern and Prayers concerning my condition (cancer stgIV), I just hope and Pray God will see that Good will overcome Evil and clear up all this concern. I myself am going to take what I am given, if Purdue says, or whoever may be, that this is the same drug, just not abusable, and few extra ingredients, that may very well hurt me, well what will b, will b, I trust God and even tho this OP brand does have bad effects and does not even compare to what my Generic OCs were helping do for me, well just know, you can't lie to your doctor and he KNOWS all, at least my Oncologist knows me and the test do not lie. Hope you all understand what I'm trying to say, had chemo and don't feel so good right now, just Love the Lord, trust in Him and Pray. Love and God Bless you all. I believe they all do but it's hard to get cooperation sometimes! Go in and say I called 1800walgreens and even print off the Walgreens site that they carry it! I never thought it true but so TRUE it is ;-) goodluck and feel better! Those Ops are NOT Oxycontin period!

This is an informative forum for this subject. I'd like to pass on some info that may be helpful to Chronic Pain Patients who also have Celiac Disease. I had to get very sick on a certain brand of Oxycodone before I thought to call the pharmaceutical company and double check if this med was gluten free. I knew from the way I was feeling and the symptoms I was having that I'd gotten gluten from 'something'. And since I hadn't eaten any food all week, it HAD to be my pain med. Long story short......it was! Until then I'd never thought to check my meds for 'gluten'. Most pharmacists don't know this info, tho, and you must call the pharmaceutical company directly to find out. (You can google the pharmaceutical company name for that info). I've had only one pharmaceutical rep tell me 'you'll need to call your physician for that information'. Hope this is helpful for those who are Celiacs AND Chronic Pain Patients.

Verwen you are wrong I thought the same thing! Almost ALL Walgreens have generic Oxycontin and it's the old purdue Oxycontin! I couldn't beleive it! I went to my local Walgreens after I filled mine and got Mallinkot Ocs and they had the old ones! I should have been more patient! Mets all I can tell you is go to your local Walgreens and try! I swear this is TRUE! I don't even consider Ops Oxycontin they suck for pain releif! I'm also a cancer patient and wish you the best Mets be strong and take the trip it's well worth it ;-) goodluck and Godbless!

I would like to know if my Oncologist has to add anything to my prescription of Oxycontin 80mg to be able to receive the OCs and not the OPs? I received, without realizing it, Oxycontin 80mg OP on my Prescription in August at CVS, with Cancer Chronic Pain and metastasized, no cure, the OPs did nothing but make me have very bad side effects, I called my Oncologist, then last month when I went and received 80mg OC ( said OP on description bottle) I thought problem would or had been fixed, that I would only be getting the OCs and hope this will be true when I have them filled, but reading all that I have read, I don't want to wait until last minute only to find out the reason I received the 80OCs from CVS last month was end of stock. I do not and can not put this stress on my body again! Just thinking of getting the OPs again makes me so nervous I start hurting so bad, so tense guess bone pain can't take being tense and with my Chronic pain, I don't know what to do. I go for Chemo tomorrow and will stop by Walgreens, and CVS to see what I have to do. Its so hard after Chemo to do anything, but after that month of the OPs, I can not risk getting them ever again! I think this is awful what they have done, and without telling me, looks like taking the 3 Chemos I take and have been told that with Chronic Cancer Pain, we would be hurt the most because that's the only pain medicine that works the BEST on Cancer pain. Not that anyone else is any less important and their pain problems, just I have a dease with no cure and really can not take all this, and do not have the strength to run around trying to find this and I should not have to. What little life I have left, please dear God someone help me have somewhat pain relief. I also take 10mg Oxycodone for breakthru and anziety medication, so I will close by saying good luck to us all, God Bless all and thanks for any suggestions. Will talk to Oncologist also.
