I came up positive today for methamphetamine on a urine test. I've never touched that drug a day in my life. Does too much of it in your system cause that? I also take tegrotol, remeron, and catapress. They sent it out but I'm going crazy because I don't know what's going on....someone please help!

I recently had a urinalysis sent to a lab. I just began taking Gabapentin maybe 2 to 3 weeks before this. I came up positive for cocaine and I never ever have done cocaine! My opinion is yes it does throw false positives. I spoke to someone who was in jail and people were coming up positive for benzos and cocaine while taking the Gabapentin. They actually quit giving it in this particular jail for this reason.

I take Gabapentin but not cocaine, yet the drug test shows up as cocaine. Can Gabapentin cause that?

From the different threads I've read today, Neurontin can show up as just about everything. Some have failed for marijuana, some for opiates and now I see methamphetamine and cocaine. The only reason I happened to start looking at this forum is bc I was researching Neurontin on a well known medical app to see if it could be used as a mood stabilizer. The psychiatrist office was closed Thursday even though it was appointment day. After finally getting through to the secretary she asked what meds I was on and the lady who was there waiting too. One of her meds is Neurontin I think 800mg 4x a day.

I was on Remeron for about 9 months and I didn't have it show up as anything in a drug test but I did gain a lot of weight. When I got put on it I was around 135lb and when they took me off of it, I was closer to 180lbs. I've never been that heavy in my life, I noticed that as soon as I quit taking it I started losing the weight and I've been off of it since February and I'm back at 135lbs.

Re: Mimi (# 1)

Yes nuerontin (gabbapentin) can cause false positives on a test but only the dip stick if it’s sent to the lab then you have nothing to worry about but if not and you test positive demand that it gets sent out
