Probably, because it is believed to help with many illnesses and boost your bodies immune system. this site is not medical professionals, so cannot possibly state for certain, but in most cases, these are the usual reasons that some doctors recommend its use.

Have you tried asking your doctor why they want you to use it?

You must have noticed that a patient always feel lethargic or deficient of energy while on antibiotic treatment Reason is similarity in prokaryotes and mitochondrial genetic material. Antibiotics are to kill bacteria and one of mechanism involves targeting the DNA of bacteria. Now in cell, antibiotic can not differentiate pokaryotic DNA from mitochondrial one. So in addition to bacteria, it also kills mitochondria, power house/ source of energy to cell. Its no. goes down in antibiotic therapy. This is the reason patient is advised to have b complex with antibiotic. - ext source

Antibiotics are supplemented with b complex because
when a antibiotic is prescribed to a patient it kills beneficial bacteria also from the intestinal flora along with harmful ones... so b complex is added to regain the flora..

Broad spectrum antibiotics kills the E.coli present in intestines which produces vitamins. if these antibiotics are taken it kills the E.coli and causes the deficiency of vitamins. so vitaminb12 is always prescribed with antibiotics..
