Is there anything that works naturally as antibiotic ; such as a leaf or something, in case things get bad!!!! ## Yes frederick there are plenty of natural antibiotics and with a bit of searching you might just find something to supplement your existing diet. Of course i am not saying to stop the meds that a doctor has put you on, but look into a few things like oil of oregano, other probiotics such as yogurt or culturelle supplement, etc. And there are tons of other essential oils with antiseptic properties. Does this help at all?

I have a urinary trac infection I have some sulfameth trimethoprim 800/160 left from tha last infection but it is from 2012 is it still good to take? ## Hello, Mushie! How are you? Tablets have an expiration date of one year from the date they were dispensed to you. After that, they being to degrade and lose effectiveness. Thus, it would be better to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription. The FDA lists the typical side effects of an antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can you take a sleep aid like Zzzquil or Unisom with sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160? ## Hello, DeeDee! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The antibiotic may cause some drowsiness, so taking it with a sleep aid could intensify that and really knock you out. Thus, you should make sure that you only take it, when you're going straight to bed and won't be driving or anything. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, for the antibiotic may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

My doctor prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 mg TB for my Bronchitis for every 12 hours for a 10 day round. I have been on it for 6 days and was looking it up on the internet. Some websites state that for chronic bronchitis it should be used for every 12 hours for 14 days. Has my doctor messed up and my bronchitis will not completely clear up? ## Hello, Shannon! How are you? No, a 10 day dosing is the normal course of treatment. The FDA classifies this medication as being an antibiotic and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Have you had any improvement, yet?

What is the oval shaped pill ME 63 used for? I have a friend that found this pill by her 91 year old Mother's bedside and she is worried that it will harm her Mother. ## To answer your question, Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is a sulfonamide antibacterial combination that is used in the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. Although its list of potential side effects makes this drug arguably one of the least desirable antibiotics on the market (in my opinion), all prescription drugs carry certain risk factors. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim Details I hope this info helps! ## I've lost a filling and then the tooth broke off at the gum area .Now i suffer with a tender and swollen gum on a regular. My tooth cracked in half very sharp pain is in the tooth it is infected and I had a hip replacement in Feb, 2014. I still have this medicine that s good and want to relieve pain tonight. Can I use this medicine now? I will see dr. tomorrow. ## Hello, Angie! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic, so it will only teat bacterial infections. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it will not alleviate the pain. In order for this to help with the pain, it has to start fighting the infection and that will take several days. It's also best not to take it, unless your doctor confirms the presence of an infection and tells you that it's appropriate to do so. Taking it inap...

Will this help with strep throat ? As my mom is trying to make me take it. ## According to an abstract from nih.gov, Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim is no longer commonly recommended by doctors for treating respiratory tract infections (such as strep throat) - as streptococcus pyogenes is believed to be resistant to this drug. This is not to say it won't work or that it never gets prescribed. However it does suggest that perhaps there are better/safer options out there of which I'd encourage you to ask your doctor about after an in person evaluation. Besides that, if your mom doesn't have a full prescription you could end up creating an even stronger antibiotic resistant bacteria that only makes things worse. Visiting the doctor will ensure that you have enough of the righ...

Started taking this med yesterday due to possible uti, woke up this morning with watery diarrhea is this normal ## Hi Marianne, From what I've researched, watery diarrhea is listed as a side effect that should be reported to your doctor immediately. I realize today is Christmas and many doctors are on vacation during the holidays, so hopefully your symptoms aren't very severe? However I'd still encourage you to call your doctor anyways, since that's what the drug monograph recommends when it comes to certain symptoms. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a684026.html#side-effects Hope this helps!

I took this and have had a burning tongue since July. Could this be a side affect ## Hello, DeeDee! How are you? No, if you took a course of it back in July and still have the burning tongue, then it most likely hasn't been caused by the medication. Its typical side effects include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications? Have you been using any new toothpastes or mouthwashes? Have you had any dental work done?

i do get leg cramps, but never as much as I am getting now since taking the antibiotic. What should do, call the Dr. and explain or just continue the meds until they are finished.. ## Hello, Angela! How are you? This antibiotic can sometimes cause more frequent urination, so you might be getting dehydrated. How much fluid do you take in each day? Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? Have you experienced any other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash or diarrhea?

i have been given this medicine for kidney infection, please tell me how to stop the itching, really bad ## Please stop taking this medication and see your doctor immediately. The itching may be the sign of an allergic reaction, which only tends to get worse, if you continue taking it. You'll likely need some treatment for the allergic reaction and to switch to a different antibiotic. Have you experienced any other symptoms?

Im taking sulfameth trimethoprim 800-160 for an infection on my face that went into my lynph nodes. After taking only 2 pills my top lip became swollen with a rash on the inside and blisters on the bottom of my tongue. I stopped taking them for 4 days. I took one today because the infection wasnt going away. Now, my tongue feels like needles are going through it for the past 5 hours. It's now going into my gums and lips. Its also making me very tired, my vision very blurry and extremely agitated. Should I get a different antibiotic for the infection? I"m also allergic to penicillin. ## Hello, Tina! How are you? My boyfriend have a bad tooth ack pain and he want some of my sulfame/trimethoprim will that help it until he go to the dentist on the 15 ## Hello, Tana! How is your boyfriend doing? This is an antibiotic, so it is only effective at treating bacterial infections, it will not relieve the pain he's experiencing. It's also best not to take it, if it hasn't been prescribed for him, because it creates the risk of his developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I AM TAKING SULFAME/TRIMETHOPRIM 800 FOR UTI TWICE N DAILY. I AM HAVING VERY BAD LEG MUCLE PAIN. EVEN DIFFICULT TO WALK ## Hello, Mary! How are you feeling? This antibiotic does cause that in some people that take it, along with diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness and non-allergic skin rash. If you start to develop hives or swollen glands, then stop taking it and seek medical attention, because you may be allergic to it. Is there anything else I can help with?

Was out swimming and got sunburn on my back. Now i have hives on 1/4 of my body and fever. Itching and cannot sleep. ## Have you contacted your doctor? There are reasons that these medications usually list cautions about sun exposure, but your doctor may be able to suggest ways to alleviate the problem, such as some Benadryl, or something similar. ## I was exposed to the sun while taking the above medicine I have small red bumps mostly on my legs and arms. I started taking benadryl. How long after should they go away? ## Im having the same issue and my anniversary is in 2 days I really need to know how to make this go away too

I was going to the doctors and she gave me a urinalysis test. She gave me Trimethoprim to start which I did the same day. I took the first one at 4 pm and by 8 pm I went down hill! Worst headache ever, tremors down my body, chills, high temperature. I didn't have a clue what was going on. Got rushed to hospital and they told me I had ketones and protein in my urine. I was dehydrated and with me having a high temperature, I was fighting an infection. Once I calmed down they told me to carry on with Trimethoprim and to take Pracetamol and Iboufen to calm my temperature. I took another Trimethoprim and again I started again, this time coming out in spots, itching and joint pain. Doctor told me to stop them and gave me an antihistamine and a different antibiotic one that I have had befo...

I took this for a week which ended about a month ago. I'm 46 and a runner. Since taking these meds, my left heel and calf have hurt (tender on the inside of heel under ankle and tight calf). Now my right ankle has begun hurting and I've never had issues with these before. I can barely walk in the mornings. What are my options here? I'm certain there was no mention of tendon damage in the side effects. I don't need a 6 month layoff from running and constant pain to boot. ## Hello, Jeff! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you've been having. This antibiotic isn't one of those known to cause that type of problem, but it would likely be best to have it checked out, just to be sure. Are you on any other medications? Do have any medical conditions? ## After c...

I am on Sulfameth Trimethoprim and I was in the sun for short periods of time, and broke I out in a sunburn rash. Tried Benadryl but it never changed. Can this medication have caused this? ## Hello, Nick! How are you? Some topical aloe vera lotion may help soothe it, but otherwise, it will likely just take time, until it clears up on its own. However, I'd suggest making sure to have it checked out to be sure that it's not an allergic reaction, this medication does cause them in many people fairly frequently. Has it improved at all, yet?

I have a huge Sty under my eye . The doctor prescribe me this med SULFAMETHOXAZOLE/ TRIMETHOPRIM800/160Tabs. Would this help my problem?? ## Hello, Boston! How are you? A stye is usually caused by an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes, or an infection of the sweat glands, so yes, an antibiotic may help. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
