+LSPERNOL,+ CEPHALEXIN 500MG/+ HYDROCODONE 5MG,325,+ CELEXA+LAMICTAL+INDOMETHICIN+BC POWDER. IS THIS A SAFE COMBO FOR HEAL OF THE FOOT CELLULITUS? ## Hello, Ace! How are you? Are you taking or planning on taking all of these, at once? No, that isn't necessary. Cellulitis is an infection, so it requires an antibiotic and something for pain, if it's painful, but this is way too much stuff to be taking. What has your doctor instructed you to take? Please post back with more details, thank you!

Can u take sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 while on methadone? I once took cipro and went into immediate horrible withdrawal! ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? Yes, as long as your doctor is aware that you're taking both. There is a chance that it may prolong the QT interval of the heart, but it isn't considered to be a dangerous reaction. Side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I found a vial with several round white pills, but the label is illegible. On one side are the numbers 21 58 and on the other side is 9 8. Can you tell me what they are? Also what is a white pill with 5093 V on it? ## Hello, Pete! How are you? The tablet with the 93 2158 on it contains 100mgs of Trimethoprim, which is an antibiotic. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. And the tablet with the 5093 V marking contains 10mgs of Prednisone, which is a steroid class medication that's used to treat allergic reactions, swelling and immunity disorders. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, fluid retention and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Started taking this on Friday at 8 pm. Woke up on Saturday with a horrible headache and red eyes. Took it again Saturday at 8am and again at 8pm. Woke up Sunday without headache although it still hurts when I cough. Still took meds at 8am. Is this normal or should I discontinue? ## I also have a slight fever. ## This is a sulfa antibiotic, so I am really not sure if anything is abnormal or unexpected. To be completely honest, what you're experiencing doesn't sound dangerous and may not be sufficient reason to stop taking it, but this is a very nasty antibiotic that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. I really think it should be reserved as a last resort, when other options haven't worked. Learn more SMZ/TMP details here. The final decision on whether or not you continue taki...

I seek an alternative to above-named Rx aka Bactrim for acne purposes. Thank you for your suggestions. ## Well, the one that's most commonly used now is Doxycycline. Bactrim isn't actually recommended for it, because it tends to cause dangerous allergic reactions in too many people. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was taking sulfa for 5 days but quit due to fever and chills. I've been done for 2 days and now I have a rash on my back and arms. Any ideas on what to use to clear it or how long it may last? ## Hello, Ncf! How are you doing? Yes, it sounds like you were having a bad reaction to the medication and are most likely allergic to it, so you probably did the right thing by stopping it. However, you may still have the initial infection, so you should see your doctor for a different antibiotic and to have the rash evaluated. In most cases, it will clear up on its own after a week or so, but you may need something to treat it, only your doctor can say for sure. It happened to me last year and it took over a month before I was feeling back to normal. Are there any other questions or concer...

I've been taking this medicine for 2 days and have been burping constantly so much that it is causing mild chest pain from air build up is this ok and is it ok to take gas x or something similar ## hello, Paul! How are you? Sorry about the gas/acid issue. Yes, this medication can cause excess stomach acid and a gas medication or antacid may help, but it depends on the specific one you wish to take, since some may cause interactions. Gas-X, which contains the active ingredient Simethicone isn't listed as causing any problems or interactions, but others would need to be checked individually and all such information should be double checked with your doctor or pharmacist, before taking anything. It's only been a few days, so that's a little too soon to expect the medications to work and resolve the issue. The Sulfa/Trimeth is a generic for Bactrim, it's an antibiotic and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. what medicine I can take for pain if I am taking sulfameth trimethoprim ... please answer fast this pain is killing me ## Hi javier, Based on my research, sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim does not list any drug interactions between it and various pain medications (such as oxycodone, opana, norco, etc). So in my opinion you should be just fine taking a narcotic along with the antibiotic. However, you should always consult with your doctor first before making any kind of adjustments to your current regimen. I hope this helps!

Very sorry about the headaches. It could be from this antibiotic, since it is sulfa based, it has been known to cause some very odd side effects in some people that take it. I had a very bad experience with it myself last year, it gave me a rash, hives, headaches, joint/muscle aches, swollen glands and etc. Learn more Bactrim details here. Have you contacted your doctor? Adverse reactions to this antibiotic usually continue to get worse, so you may need to switch to a different one.

Recently had a very bad reaction to augmentin. Now suspected MRSA wound that I thought was just a spider bite infected. They gave me this and I have never taken it before. I was okay with amoxicillin so it is the other component I reacted to. Is this related at all? Many of the bad affects listed here are what I experienced so i am afraid to take. Ty. ## No, Trimethoprim is different and unrelated. Learn more Trimethoprim details here. But being an antibiotic, the side effects that it may cause will be very similar to those of other antibiotics, which is why it also lists what you've experienced. The ingredient in the Augmentin that would have caused you a problem, if it wasn't the Amoxicillin, was Clavulanate, also referred to as Clavulanic Acid. Is there anything else I can he...

can alcahol be used while takingSMZITMP DS 800-160 ## Hi Tom, It's actually NOT recommended that you have any alcohol while you are taking Trimethoprim. Reason being is that the interaction can increase your risk of certain side effects such as rapid heartbeats, increased body temperature under the skin, nausea, and vomiting. If you want avoid those risks, it may just be best to play it safe and wait it out through the duration your treatment. I hope this helps!

I've been prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 for a suspected bacterial infection along with ibuprofen 800 for pain. I take them with meals twice a day, except for the ibuprofen. I only take that when the pain is unbearable. I'm experiencing side effects such as cramping, upset stomach and diarrhea. ..as expected. Should I take pepto bismol to help with the belly issues? Also, my family and I have noticed that I have become very grumpy since I started the meds. Is this a cause of the meds or simply from dealing with the pain? Side note- the issue for treatment is testicular pain, which makes me sick to my stomach by itself. ## Hi, Bo! Very sorry that you're so miserable, that's terrible! And my guess is that the medication is most likely contributing. Since it is s...

I'm a bit worried as this infection was ignored by the Docs for about a week. The area of my kidneys kind of hurt. Please advise. Going to a party this weekend I wanted to know if this would be ok.I would only be drinking maybe 3 beers at most. ## Based on my research, the trimethoprim in Bactrim DS does list a drug interaction with alcohol, so I wouldn't recommend mixing the two if you can try your best to be mindful of it. The interaction itself states that you should talk to your doctor before using trimethoprim together with ethanol (alcohol). Further precautions note to not drink alcohol while you are taking trimethoprim as you may have unpleasant side effects such as: Fast heartbeats, warmth or redness under your skin, tingly feeling, nausea, and/or vomiting. Because of that, the manufacturer also recommends checking your food and medicine labels to be sure these products do not contain any alcohol as we...

I have been taking the meds for 5 days now..i noticed the past couple days ive been shaking is this normal or no?? ## From what I could gather, both tremors and seizures are listed under 'severe' side effects of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim that may require immediate medical attention. For this reason alone I would recommend contacting your doctor as soon as possible, to at least be on the safe side if it doesn't end up being quite as serious as it sounds. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim Details Have you ever had this sort of reaction to other antibiotics in the past?
