My 32 year old QH mare tore her tendon sheath and severed the nerve in her left front fetlock joint. She's been on penicillan for 10 days and now can switch to an oral antibiotic. How many mg of each drug should she get? Should it be twice daily and for how long? I have 800mg/160mg tablets on hand. ## I do apologize, but I have to be honest and say that I don't have an answer for you. The only suggestion I can make is to consult a veterinarian. The information we have available and my own knowledge and experience is only relevant to the use of medications in humans, not in animals. Are there any other questions or comments?

68 YEARS OLD DID NOT HAVE URINARY PROBLEM WHOLE LIFE I HAVE BEEN TAKING 2X A DAY SULFAMETH/TRIMETHOPRIM 800/160 AND 2X AMOX-CLAV 875. SO FAR I GOT 4 OF EACH.I AM SWEATING AT NIGHT AND PILLOW GETS WET. WHAT SHOULD I DO ? I WILL CONTACT MY DR. IN THE MORNING . ## The Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim has been known to cause this, as a side effect, in some people that take it. Did you contact your doctor? What did they say the cause was?

I am allergic to sulfa drugs is there any in triprim tabs 300mg ## No, actually this is the formulation that is specifically without the sulfonamide antibiotic that is usually coupled with it. How does this drug affect a person who is current taking Humira for RA? How long should a person be off Humira 40mg before taking Sulfameth/TMP DS Tab. Dosage 2 tablets twice daily. ## Have you discussed this with your doctor? There is really no specific time frame, the information just says to discontinue Humira for the time period you are taking antibiotics. It isn't that it causes a dangerous interaction, but that the Humira can make it harder for your body and the antibiotic to work and fight the infection. Some doctors will have their patients stop Humira, while taking antibiotics to fight infection, but some will just prescribe a higher dosage of the antibiotics.

I have an ear infestion either from an insect bite or a post from a cheap earring. The swelling has gone down but I am having real pain on the ear were the area is affected. Can Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 /160 be safely perscribed for up to 42 days for prostate infections when Ciprofloxacin was failed to help. I have been on Sulfameth Trimethoprim for 28 days. It has really helped but I still have some symptoms of penis burning and perineum aching. I have been given a perscription to continue. I hesitate to continue another 14 day perscription but have had a complete sholder replacement two years ago and fear getting it infected. ## When it comes to antibiotics, the duration of treatment can vary, depending on the severity of the infection and, from what your describing, it does sound like you had a pretty bad one. Should I be taking Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800/160 while I am taking 4 mg of Warfarin daily? ## Were these prescribed by the same doctor, so they are aware that you are taking both? The Sulfamethoxazole in this antibiotic can cause increased plasma concentrations of the Warfarin, which can increase your risk of bleeding, so someone that is using both must be carefully monitored by their doctor, because their INR should be checked frequently.

This means that the only way it will help clear up a rash, is if that rash is caused by an infection. And yes, it can cause a non-allergic skin rash as a side effect, however, these are usually very mild and they will go away, a few days after you finish your prescribed course of the medication. My 15-year old son has been taking this drug for about 8 months. He is a perfectly normal boy developmentally and has no allergies to any drug. He is big for his age, but a perfect weight for his height. He has a normal diet and is in excellent physical condition. Last week, in a match during wrestling practice, he suffered a seizure during which he bit he tongue and eventually lost consciousness for several minutes. My face is all swollen ## I'm not finding any interactions listed, but you should ask your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. If your face is very swollen, it is a good idea to see a doctor, anyway. This bottle is labeled as trimethoprim, but is a different shape (round instead of oval) than my last prescription ## Once a medication is available for generic production, it can be made by many different companies and there are no regulations regarding how it looks, shape, size or color.
