Tagamet Is A Protagonist For Methadone And Xanax, How About Ativan? (Page 2)

- Tagamet is a protagonist for some narcotics (like Methadone) and some benzodiazepenes (like Xanax)... Meaning if you take say 800mg of Tagamet 3 hours Before taking your regular Methadone dose, it will make the effects of the Methadone last longer and stronger (< not always stronger if longer acting, but by experience it does with Methadone)

But I 'think' I read that Ativan is not one of the Benzos that Tagamet (generic Cimitedine - sp?) will elongate the effects of. I'm worried since - big surprise! - I have urine drug tests every week or 2 at the Methadone clinic where they Watch it leave and enter the cup. My probation officer 10 years ago wasn't that close to me for testing! Anyways Ativan leaves the body in 7-22 hours max. I know this to be true since I've been prescribed it from my regular doctor for 8 years now. But the Methadone Clinics don't like you taking ANY benzos since 74% of all Methadone deaths are when benzos are also being taken.
So i get it.
But I'm not screwing with them. I need them. too long of an explaination why - short version, i can't breath w/o them due to a botched gallblader removal.

ok so the Methadone effects lasted all day today, the first time I tried the 800mg/daily (it also kills warts, sometimes genital warts etc after 2-3 months of 800mg tagamet taken in 2 doses a day. So i don't want to STOP taking the Tagamet!
Want to see if it indeed DOSE kill or remove this wart.
BUT.. if this means the Ativan which is usally OUT of the urine by 22 hours TOPS (I have No Liver problems, no hep C. so the usual 7-22 hours is true for me) But if the Tagamet Does affect the urine-clean-time b/c it's also a protagonist for Ativan then I'll be back to every day and lose my weekly-status... and positive twice? Might loose the Methadone clinic all together!

So remembering that not ALL Benzos arwe the same in clean time ( look up the difference between Xanax and Valium and Ativan - you'll be surprised How HUGE the difference in them is!)

Anyone have experience with Tagamet and Ativan?
And if it did or did Not change the up to 7 to 22 hours from dose to clean urine test?
OR found the Webpage that SAYS Ativan is NOT affected by Tagamet as say the Xanax is?

I TAKE 130MGS. A DAY OF METHADONE AND I TAKE TWO TAGAMENT PILLS 200MGS. EACH And TWO MORE AT NOON AND THEY DO MAKE THE EFFECTS AND POTENCY OF THE METHADONE STRONGER I GET WEEKLIES NOW IT DONT MESS WITH MY U.A.'S BUT I DON'T MESS WITH BENZOS.

Someone can die from going through a cold turkey methadone withdrawal. Read about serious opiate withdrawals. I don't care if this is an old post or not!!!

Your So right can't go without methadone for a long period of time I have went 3days without it not by choice was switching clinics.... But I was good 11st 2 days then I could feel it and believe me the withdrawals is way far more than withdrawals of oxys heroin morphine or anything.. SO NO DONT TAKE OFF METHDAONE FOR A WEEK WHIM EVER SAID THAT WASNTTO EDUCATED ON METHADOBE....

Thank you im a methadone patient and just learned about potentiating, of course I jumped right on it, I'm an addict that's y were in the program of course when were on the same dose for so long , were building immunity to it so we will potentiate and ty no we can not take a week off I couldn't imagine taking a day off at that. In that case we would just leave the "liquid handcuffs" altogether!! I know it a old post just irritated and glad someone stuck up for is MMT patients.

I don't think he knows what drugs are, let alone the effects, not to mention the exhaustive repetitive and ridiculous rules these clinics force upon us. I think they like to play god. Look up what happens if you give up suddenly.

how do the pills work ? More sleepy, etc. etc. I would like to try this method too. I take 100mg of methadone a day as well as serapax and valium (which I want to give up). The methadone does not hold me like it did. I use it for back pain now because the government wont give me opiates because I was a junky.

So articulate so informed yet so deceptive. I fully understand that addiction is a disease that robs us of our dignity and moral fiber.Iam in fact a recovering addict successfully utilizing a MMT modality for 14 years. Compliant employed integrated back in the semi norms of society as such. Have you ever considered using this protocol for what it was intended?? I played your game on the clinic for years until I was given an ultimatum cut the crap or be cut loose. I signed a contract started following clinic suggestions adhering to guidelines and was amazed phased up to 27 day take homes in less then 3 years. I don't pretend it's easy, nothing worthwhile ever is but the stress and games some play to get over while being medicated is indeed the reason methadone has this unfortunate stigma attached to it. Sorry dude I don't possess the writing skills to convey my point as you so artfully described but I had to share the difference between WORKING THE PROGRAM AS OPPOSED TO BEING WORKED TO STAY ON A PROGRAM.

If you're already using 100 mg of methadone daily in addition to serax and Valium, how do you function? The last thing you need is to add a potenator to that cocktail. Mixing benzos, opiods and other pharmacological agents is not only unwise clinically speaking, it can prove deadly.

I have to take so much crap (serapax, valium done) because I have been a drug user for 33 years. So my tolerance to just about all drugs is very very high

my god people relax ,,, just a little ,, while its true the comment did seem insensitive and thats the last thing you want to encounter when going on an advice panel, especially dealing with such a sensitive matter, i think that you may be over reacting the smallest amount ... probably because its a hot button issue ,, but you never want to bully someone to the point that they feel that they cant speak,,, everyone has important points to add ,, perhaps he was just pointing out the obvious of what it looks like and that is a lot of people do want to make the effects of the methadone stronger and if you are actively looking for ways to increase your well being shall i say than thats not really a good sign,, it isnt so much that your not taking the program seriously in some cases perhaps your not on a high enough dose but thier are some people that despite how much they are given of methadone will always still have a desire to use while in treatment ,, yes that happens ,, so yes people have called other people out when they think that is whats going on ,, should they do this ?? prob not ,, but o well , thats what people misinterprit sometimes ,,, first of all was he saying take a week off from methadone or the other med that the person was worried he would get in trouble for taking i believe it was ativan ?? second i find that if someone is ignorant than what better way than to teach ,,, yes people want to increase there methadone witch might not sound very promising from a treatment perspective but the idea behind potentiating i find to be a good one, even if it originated from my personal desire to want to increase my methadone dose...do i feel bad about spending my off time researching ways to increase my dose ,,, yeah kind of i do ,,, but guess what my methadone dose may not be good enough if im thinking about ways to incrrease it,,, thats not a character flaw that the user should have to b ashamed of .. methadone was designed to be able to elimate cravings for 24 hours if its not doing that than your not on enough,, so you can increase your dose there bye increasing your dependence on methadone or you can try to find ways to get the desired 24 hour effect in other ways like potentiating ... clinics i have read already do this themselves to make the medicine stronger with out actually increasing the med, thus increasing tolerance witch when and if you are trying to come off someday will be easier the less tolerance / less drug that you have .... so there u have it potentiating is a good thing,,,,
people should ask questions before they fly off the deep end
and most people are aware that you can not just come off methadone ,, ill bet any money that if hes on this sight he already knows this,,,,,

Your are very ignorant!!! Do some research and get educated!!! You cannot just simply stop taking methadone!!! I wish people like u had to go thru real withdrawals for just a day or two, then lets see how u feel to just stop taking methadone that u depend on!!!
