taking two pills 5 times a day
2 Replies RSS
I was diagnosed with shingles and was prescribed with ACYCLOVIR 400 MG TABLETS and it says to take 2 tablets by mouth five times per day for 7 days.. But I don't understand? How many hours apart do I wait for each set of two tablets? ## I was just given the same med, but mine is 1 tab 5x day. My doctor said I didn't have to wake up at night for a dose, so I set this up: 6am,10am, 2pm, 6pm and the last one for the day @ 10pm. Hope this helps. ## My prescription for CARB/LEVO 25 - 100 mg reads: Take 1 and 1/2 tablets by mouth 5 times a day. The first pill would be at 8:00 AM. When would the times be for pills 2, 3, 4 and 5 - if bedtime is involved, which would be at 22:30 / 10:30 PM? Thank you for your assistance.

What could cause calcified granulomas in the lungs and on the liver? Before these granulomas became calcified, what types of damage could have been done to my internal organs?

Valacyclovir with Ibuprofen
12 Replies RSS
I've been searching everywhere for an answer to this, but does anybody know if it is okay to take Advil with Valacyclovir? My wife's gotten a headache (a reported side effect) and is really wanting to take a pain medication. I have read that individuals should check with their doctor before taking Valacyclovir if they are taking NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, but I can't seem to find a definite answer if one Advil will be harmful. ## Ibuprofen is not specifically listed as a drug which interacts with Valacyclovir (meaning it is not implicitly described as dangerous to take together with it, whereas other drugs have been mentioned). This does not mean that you shouldn't double check with your doctor or pharmacist, but she should be good to take an Advil, as lo...

HERPES ZOSTER VACCINE ## I have had Herpes Simplex which should effect my mouth. My Igm titer which should be less than 20 is 785. I get Herpes everywhere and on both sides of my body. Immunologist looked at my outbreak and after bloodwork for EVERYTHING she said I had Herpes in my DNA. First outbreak, 1975 as appendix burst. Since then, I'm 65 now, I get outbreaks every other month and before it comes the lymp nodes in the area it will be in swell, giving me a sign . I cannot have any prednisone or cortisone as she said it would really blow up my already painful shingles. And once you have a few outbreaks the vaccine is not recommended. And yep, I have tried all the Acycolvir etc both to prevent & to treat and they have no effect on me. I wonder if my Mom's drinking while P...

Half of a blue elipitical pill with either 86, 98, or 96
2 Replies RSS
I found half of a blue pill. It looks like it may have been scored, can't tell for sure. It has an imprint of either 86, 98, or 96? ## Valacyclovir - 500mg commonly used to treat herpes and other viruses. ## @Doc, From what I can tell, the 500mg Valacyclovir hydrochloride tablet I'm seeing is indeed oblong and blue, but the imprint on it is "F 82". So if it were broken in half there would just be the "82" showing and not any of the prospective numbers that were mentioned by Randi (86, 98, or 96). I guess it all depends on the condition of the pill and how Randi interpreted it in whatever state it was found, but as far as I know, 500mg Valacyclovir is still considered an educated guess and not necessarily the correct answer. Hopefully Randi will post back soon wit...

can gonorrhea be treated with this
4 Replies RSS
Can Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 875 be used for gonorrhea symptoms? ## Hello, Dee! How are you? Yes, it can be used to treat it, though some doctors prefer antibiotic shots. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. You should also make sure to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm seeing a discharge coming from my genitals and I have amoxicillin. Could I use it? ## I have been taking doxycycline for the past two days now as treatment for gonorrhea but haven't been seeing any sign of improvement or development yet. ## Hi, I just started taking 625mg amoxicillin and clavulanic antibiotics. Will it work for gonorrhea?

Valacyclovir hcl 500mg v.s. Valacyclovir 1gm tablets
1 Reply RSS
What is the difference between valacyclovir hcl 500mg and valacyclovir 1gm tablets? Why does one have hcl on the prescription bottle and the other just says valacyclovir? ## The only different between what you listed is the dosage, and the HCL just designated the specific chemical salt that medication has been derived from, some places list it on the prescription, and some don't. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
