Valacyclovir with Ibuprofen

I've been searching everywhere for an answer to this, but does anybody know if it is okay to take Advil with Valacyclovir? My wife's gotten a headache (a reported side effect) and is really wanting to take a pain medication. I have read that individuals should check with their doctor before taking Valacyclovir if they are taking NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, but I can't seem to find a definite answer if one Advil will be harmful. ## Ibuprofen is not specifically listed as a drug which interacts with Valacyclovir (meaning it is not implicitly described as dangerous to take together with it, whereas other drugs have been mentioned). This does not mean that you shouldn't double check with your doctor or pharmacist, but she should be good to take an Advil, as lo...

Half of a blue elipitical pill with either 86, 98, or 96

I found half of a blue pill. It looks like it may have been scored, can't tell for sure. It has an imprint of either 86, 98, or 96? ## Valacyclovir - 500mg commonly used to treat herpes and other viruses. ## @Doc, From what I can tell, the 500mg Valacyclovir hydrochloride tablet I'm seeing is indeed oblong and blue, but the imprint on it is "F 82". So if it were broken in half there would just be the "82" showing and not any of the prospective numbers that were mentioned by Randi (86, 98, or 96). I guess it all depends on the condition of the pill and how Randi interpreted it in whatever state it was found, but as far as I know, 500mg Valacyclovir is still considered an educated guess and not necessarily the correct answer. Hopefully Randi will post back soon wit...

Both Valacyclovir and Acyclovir are only effective against the herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores and, once you've already gotten a cold sore, that initial dose you took on the first day is enough. What medication can I take with valacyclovir to help with nausea and vomiting? ## Hello, Wendy! How are you? Are you on a short-term dosage to deal with an outbreak, or do you take it regularly as a preventative? For short-term use of higher doses, there likely isn't much that will help, though your doctor may be able to prescribe something for nausea. However, if you're taking it long-term for prevention, then you may do better switching to either Acyclovir or Famcyclovir to see if they cause you less issues. ## Thankyou for your response.
