Switching From Adderall To Desoxyn?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I've had an ADHD diagnosis for quite a while. I've been on everything from Concerta to Adderall and am currently prescribed 90mg of Adderall a day. I am pretty curious about Desoxyn and the thought that I could get the same results from 5 mg a day. What are your thoughts and where can I go? I'm in Virginia Beach.

Doctors are very reluctant to prescribe desosyn as it is pharma grade methamphetmine. I have a friend who is a pharmacy tech and said she has only seen it written/dispensed one time and it was for a patient with severe narcolepsy. Additionally it is not on any insurance formularies and is expensive out of pocket

That being said, it is approved for Add/ADHD so If your are not having success with other medications you could ask your doctor about it. Perhaps someone with experience will chime in and let us know their actual experience with it.

Cheers

I knew a guy who was strung out on it and was a babbling idiot (no offense), even 80 mg of Adderall is a lot. Different drugs, from what I remember it was pure methamphetamine, really strong with a much longer shelf life than Adderall.

As MedlinePlus states, it contains Methamphetamine, it is used to treat ADHD and to aid in weight loss. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, irritability, anorexia, insomnia, and nervousness.

However, there is no way to say how well it will work for you. That is something that only you and your doctor can decide. Have you asked them about trying it, yet?

Are you on any other medications?
