Absolutely not. They have neither similar conformation nor any of the chemical factors that the drug tests work on. Demerol is a totally synthetic, man-made opioid painkiller while Percocet contains oxycodone, a semisynthetic opiate made from a product of a poppy.

For any drug test they show absolutely no similarities.

It would actually depend on the type of test that is done. There are some basic, inexpensive tests that just show whether or not any narcotic/opiates are present.

However, there are other tests that do look for the specific metabolites and yes, those would distinguish between the two.

Not so. Drug tests depend upon either shape (antibidy tests) or molecuilar mass and absorbance (GC/MS) and two such completely unrelated drugs could not be mixed up. Now if you asked about codeine and morphine, or oxycodone and hydrocodone there might be a mix-up though not if one use BOTH tests.

They would have to test specifically for demerol and this is rarely done. Demerol would not show under the general class of opiates which is a common test included in drug screens.

What do these cheapies do- have a mixture of monoclonals?

I had a bad experience once with cheap tests thbat gave me an utterly false positive for SPEED- which I hate. I had used no non-prescribed drugs for over ten years. Had I not been ready to leave the program anyway I would have sued everybody. Fortunately everyone involved who could have any effect on my life knew that these dip-stick tests are useless without confirmatory CG/CS or something of greater specificity.

Would tylenol 4 show up as demerol on a urinalysis??? I go to a pain mgmt clinic & they showed demerol in my last results. I've only taken Norco & T4 (both Rx'd). I'm very confused. Possible lab mistake?

Ive had drug test that showed false positive for everything they tested for. Meth, opiates, barbituates and Ive NEVER done ANY street drugs. Ask to be retested. There are "duds" and Drs know this. I retook the test 6 hours later and tested neg.
