Does anyone know if Neurontin shows up as anything on a drug screen? ## No, Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, it is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to be effective at treating certain types of nerve pain, so it is not a substance that is included on drug test panels. It has also not been known to cause false positives for anything else. ## Neurontin only shows up as neurontin or gabapenton and is rarely tested for. I have been on neurontin for several years for nerve pain in my legs and other body parts, and highly reccomend, but recently I had a shot of decadron, and my blood pressure wend sky high. just wondering if anyone had this problem... ## If you look at this website, you will see that a rise in blood pressure also known as hypertension is a common side effect of decadron. Here's a link with a comprehensive list of withdrawal symptoms which you can have from Neurotin. The symptoms are from Benzodiazepine (Librium and Valium) withdrawal which is similar to Neurontin. Go down to Withdrawal Symptoms. ## As an observer of someone of someone withdrawing from Gabapentin, all I can say is that I've never seen such behavioral changes in people with Benzo addiction and withdrawal as I have in people taking Gabapentin. I just started taking 900mg Neurontin 3 times daily for nerve pain in neck. I am due to have an MRI to see if there is nerve damage, will taking this med change the reading of the MRI? ## I haven't found any warnings that you shouldn't take it when having one, so I have to assume it doesn't. I have diabetes and neuropathy with severe pain in my hands, feet, and legs. My doctor has prescribed Neurontin for me for the last 2 years and says it will take away the pain I am having. He has also prescribed hydrocodone for the pain. When I am out of hydrocodone the neurontin does not take away any of the pain I am having. But my doctor insists that it will. I have been drug testing for DCFS for a couple months and i have restless leg syndrome so i usually take neurontin for it, but it is not prescribed. So since i have been drug testing i have been iffy about taking it cause i dont know what or if it shows up in a drug test, they spin test my urine. I recently had transposition of ulnar nerve, about a month ago. I am in horrible, chronic pain. Neurontin does not seem to be working. My pain management dr mentioned Topamax. How do I deal with this constant nerve pain. It is in my left hand, little finger and ring finger. ## I am very sorry about what you're dealing with, nerve pain is terrible. I'm fixing to be put on probation for sum drug related charges (take note I was helping a friend and she set me up) but it was suboxone I got in trouble with that I had a prescription for and i got kicked out of the doctor so I've been taking neurontin 300-400mg to come off of them. Gabapentin (neurontin) does not show up as anything in a drug test. If it had the chance to show up as anything, a benzo maybe but definitely not coke or crack. I have been taking 600 mg of Neurontin 4x a day for about 2 years and recentlty ran out of this medication due to excrutiating slow service from mandatory mail order RX company.... I was extremely agitated during this time (approx. 5 days), nervous, stressed out, etc. Has anyone else had these symptons as a result of sudden withdrawal from Neurontin? I'm being taken off of Neurontin/Gabapentin after seven years. I'm now crying, anxious, and itching all over! I have tried antihistamines and cortisone creams but with no relief. ## yes this is normal I went through the same thing. I was on 3600 for eight years. I weaned off very slowly. I started weening off in 2008. I am now down to 400mg and go down about 100 a week. Its so awful ## These types of problems are normal from a sudden withdrawal of any medication that affects brain chemicals, which is exactly what Gabapentin does, since it was initially discovered as an anticonvulsant. My pharmacy has recently stopped carrying Actavis generic Neurontin 100 mg. They also said they "could not order Actavis for me". So, I ended up purchasing the Brand Neurontin. My insurance picked up some but it was still $$$. Now that I've tried the brand it seems to work better at neuropathic pain control.
