I'm being taken off of Neurontin/Gabapentin after seven years. I'm now crying, anxious, and itching all over! I have tried antihistamines and cortisone creams but with no relief. ## yes this is normal I went through the same thing. I was on 3600 for eight years. I weaned off very slowly. I started weening off in 2008. I am now down to 400mg and go down about 100 a week. Its so awful ## These types of problems are normal from a sudden withdrawal of any medication that affects brain chemicals, which is exactly what Gabapentin does, since it was initially discovered as an anticonvulsant. I will be going back to work and will be testing for illegal drug use. I am on Neurontin due to a medical problem. My pharmacy has recently stopped carrying Actavis generic Neurontin 100 mg. They also said they "could not order Actavis for me". So, I ended up purchasing the Brand Neurontin. My insurance picked up some but it was still $$$. Now that I've tried the brand it seems to work better at neuropathic pain control. Just wondering in May 2015 if anyone in the USA has found a generic Neurontin that they really like or works for them? I live in a small area with very few pharmacy options other than 2 big box chains. The monopoly works to their advantage as they rarely ever will 'order' any generic a person asks for. I've been taking Gabapentin 600mg tablets since 2009. My tabs have on them two different types of #s. P636 - This tablet is blue. The other is white with G31 600mg. Why the difference? Also would like to know how long will they last before they expire? I came up positive today for methamphetamine on a urine test. I've never touched that drug a day in my life. Does too much of it in your system cause that? I also take tegrotol, remeron, and catapress. They sent it out but I'm going crazy because I don't know what's going on....someone please help! ## I recently had a urinalysis sent to a lab. I was recently started on neurontin and even before discharge I advised the psychiatrist that I was having reactions. He felt they were occurring from starting Geodon and stopped that one. I was having discharge on Friday April 27th. Symptoms worsen and I read more on neurontin and really am concerned. I called the BSU as I wanted guidance and was told to discontinue it. I am unable to remember the start date but thinking it was possibly the Tues or Wed of last week. I REALLY am very concerned about permanent damage... It is a low dose 100 mg TID. I see my primary tomorrow for hospital follow up. HOWEVER, I could use reassurance as I am clearly very anxious and VERY fearful, especially about my memory... I have taken Gabapentin for over seven years for pain. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I recently read how Gabapentin can cause brain lapses and cause Alzheimer's symptoms. I have been experiencing forgetfulness. I want to be off of this drug and decided to quit. I was taking 1800 mgs daily and am down to taking 300 mgs daily. My withdrawal symptoms have been feeling like I am dying, terrible sweating, intense itching, nausea, stomach pain and diahrrea. I can't sleep, nightmares and headaches. I am not giving in.... I want off of this. When will these symptoms ease up (I pray they do) I will cut my pills in half and take only 150 mgs daily.... until gradually I have stopped. My doctor, also over seven years ago, put me on Cymbalta for pain. I gradually stopped taking it a year ago....

I have diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. I also have bursitis in my hips. Which is better to control the pain and which has less side effects - (Epleptin 300mg three times a day or Neurontin 300 mg)? ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, and there is no way to say which one will be the best to help any given person, since we are all different. However, regarding these two medications, both of them contain the same active ingredient, which is Gabapentin, so there is really no difference between them. I found a bottle of my gabapentin 600's in a bottle in the closet and I don't want to just pitch them if they're usable because I don't have insurance and they're expensive. I failed a drug test for a job and I showed positive for methadone and morphine, but I take neurontin, tramadol, atorvastatin, losartan, and 70/30 insulin novolin 1000 milligram. What caused me to show positive? And can I test positive for neurontin? ## I had a urine drug screen for my Suboxone clinic and it showed up as Neurontin, but I only take Suboxone and melatonin. Hello. I'm very new to this drug, only 7 days.I am a diabetic with bi-polar/anxiety. I was recently put on Gabapentin 300mg. 1 pill for 4 days and then told to take 1 pill 2 times a day after. I have been experiencing some normal side effects such as sleepiness, a little anxiety (it hits me for about an hour and then goes away completely) and a little bit of a loopy feeling. I did not realize I was past the 4 days and had only been taking one pill (my memory has been terrible the past few days), so I was going to start taking the 2 pills yesterday (Feb 20th). I have full blown sciaticca in my leg and want to know if Neurontin would help the pain as painkillers aren't helping it at all, nor do anti-inflammatories. I had spine surgery on 7/21. I had been taking 900 mgs daily for years. By 7/24 inadequate a hemorrhagic stroke. The hospital simply overlooked my need for neurontin. I had also bee on high doses of OxyContin and was medically supervised for 5 yrs. Then my dr decided to detox me day after surgery; hence I had no pain meds despite extensive spine repair involving my complete lumbar spine. The pain i endured destroyed my faith in god in the midst of this torture/ I realized I was having neurontin withdrawals that I believe caused the stroke. I was prescribed neurontin by my doctor. I only took 3 capsules of the 300mg capsules. It made me happy and giggly and I felt like I was floating. I didn't feel angry or as if I wanted to hurt someone as I normally feel daily.
