Lyrica - Very Strong Medicine

I have been in Stage 3 colon cancer remission for 5 years. Side effects from chemo have done a lot of nerve damage. My Doc put me on Lyrica the day before yesterday, 3/19/12 and after 2 tablets I have extreme vomiting, called my doc and he told me not to take anymore; yet even today I have extreme vomiting and can not keep anything down, my stomach is killing me. Hopefully after today I will be better. Again just 2 doses of this stuff, wow. Good luck to those taking it, because I have been on many of strong meds, and this one is out of the park. I too was bouncing into the walls after my 2nd dose. Very strong stuff is all I have to say.

Actually, it's not a very strong medication, which is why the dosages for people can be taken relatively high on it. It usually works at very low doses.

It isn't a pain medication, but an anticonvulsant that can help with certain types of nerve pain.

The symptoms you suffered are unusual and probably just mean that it's not the right medication for you to use.

That is bulls*** wonder if the dr would perscribe lyrica for a member of his family which is in stage 3cancer he should have wrote you Pain Meds not Lyrica. What is the matter with drs today I'm in stage 3 also done the treatments and radiation also but the burn I got from radiation was terrible only seen my oncologist once then I was seeing a homoplatic dr which told me to use corn starch for the burn which was getting worse. I ended up going to the e.r. where my son works and the drs there could not believe that she only wanted me to use corn starch I thought that the other half of my breast was going to rot off but the e.r. dr perscibed me the meds that they give for burn patients I can not spell it but it helped so much when I went back to see her she got mad and said why didn't I ask her well she seen how bad it was why did't she precribe when she seen the infection running out of my breast. I am very dissapointed in the way I was treated by that oncologist office will be going to another when the surgeon takes the rest off. I think when ppl have cancer they should be treated better than the addicts but not where I live the addicts are trested better now I live with half a lung on the right half a breast on the left which hurts all the time and cancer of my intestines and have a tumor on my adrenal gland. And I am sorry for any ine that has cancer cause my husband died of lung cancer and I did not realize how he hurt and made the drs keep him out if pain but I do now but they do not treat women as good as a man with prostate or any other cancer but we are human being too and in alot of times we have to be stronger than men. We need the same treatment as men get from their drs for pain.
