No, methocarbamol is not scheduled by the DEA in any category. Metaxolone (Skelaxin) isn't either. Carisoprodol (Soma) is the only similar agent that is currently scheduled (Sched IV).

They are both muscle relaxants, but the Soma is the strongest that is currently available in this category.

They both have similar side effect profiles and may cause nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and headache.

You can learn more Soma details here and you can learn more Robaxin details here.

Are there any comments or questions?

scrue the DEA Says:

The DEA Has Made it where if you get Valium or Xanax, you can't get SOMA. We now Have the DEA Making Health Care Choices Now. I trust my Doctor more Than the DEA. In Florida It's Almost Impossible To Get A Class 2 pain Prescription filled. A legal Prescription. Just from fear of the DEA. It's only Going To Get Worse. Intel we start calling Congress and the senators, and the president. You can get all the phone numbers off the Internet. If your not having any problems were you live. Get Ready IT'S COMING

The DEA has not done any such thing. I just got Xanax and Soma on Friday. A handful of States are doing this, and I'd write the President of your State!

scrue the DEA Says:

It's because the DEA. Is doing drug raids on pharmacies and pulling their records for 2 or 3 years. My doctor just, told me today when I went the dea will not let you get Xanax and SOMA together with the methadone i get?? I'm in north Florida. The DEA is making people suffer. We have got to fight back

My doctor said that it is now illegal for him to prescribe soma in Alabama. Does anyone know if this is true?

No, Alabama has some tough Soma abuse laws in place, but Soma in a Federal schedule IV medicine, and can't be made illegal by any State. Many Doctors hate writing for Soma.

Deep South Says:

The same Dr. in a world renown hospital here in Alabama prescribes me, Soma, Fentanyl & Oxycodone, etc. There was no discussion about "DEA"; him "hating to write the prescription" nothing. This is the doctor that administers my back injections. At the same hospital that my Internal med dr. prescribes Xanax & Ambien. All this is charted, comes up on the print out and just isn't an issue. Any doctor I use there can see exactly what I am being prescribed.

By reading this board oh I'd say about 6-7 mths now I have come to my conclusion it is all about the patient at hand and what is going on w/their injuries, what the x.rays show, internal, injuries sustained, tests, on and on. This hospital is strict!!! There is lamenated frames containing information of dr. shopping, seeking Unnecessary pain meds, etc.

Lord knows when I go back in July, it may all have changed but from what I've been told he said that won't happen in my case. It's the individual plan and simple. I am no dummy & I know if they were to yank a patient off theses type(s) of meds, cold turkey, they know the patient couldn't tolerate that. Again, my opinion, I could be way off base. My pharmacy has NEVER challenged anything. 12 years + & 27 surgeries later...

Any doctor that gives out Soma (many Emergency Doctors think it should be banned)Fentanyl and Oxycontin should have a visit from the Drug Enforcement Agency. The Xanax and Ambien from Emergency? Well did you tell the Emergency Doctor the truth about everything you were on? Be a responsible consumer, ask questions! Noted Physicians go to jail just like regular Doctors. Physicians's don't police themselves. You are addicted, tolerance is a monster but it can still kill you. Don't forget Pharmaceutical Companies want you addicted-How do you think they keep shareholders happy. You never looked at the side affects?

Hypnotism effective for pain you just have to find a excellent hypnotist, so is acupuncture. Don't forget Representatives that see Doctors are there to sell new meds and make sure there's clients keep meds many old flowing. Think and take responsibility for yourself.
I've been at many Emergency Room's, people die from overdoes on a daily bases. When your body says NO More you die. Or at the least go to a "Pain Specialist" not someone who says they are a pain specialist. By they way Psych medications can kill you so can blood pressure medication. Be careful all drugs mixed together have a synergistic effect.

I've been on Methadone, Morphine and Soma for a number of years now and I've never had a problem getting them. I have medical proof to show exactly why I NEED these strong meds. Drug seekers are screwing it up for the REAL pain sufferers. I see my neurologist every month and every month I overhear either the Dr or the nurse calling someone out. Drug panel came back clean which tells the Dr, they are most likely selling their meds. Ohhh the things I've seen at the Dr. One lady was frantic because the Dr cut her off. He dropped her as a patient because she had a few negative drug panels, or saying someone 'stole' their prescription or they 'lost' it lol. Yeah right lol. It's really not funny.

I just came across this post and I can tell for certain SOMA is very strong. I was given robaxin after multiple back surgies and it did nothing for the severe muscle spasms I had.she changed it t SOMA and it works great n I can function. Keep n mind tho. Everyone's body is different and what works for 1 person may not for the other. But yes SOMA is stronger the 350 mg. Either the ones w V 2410, or the flatter ones that have DAN imprinted. Hope this helps, there other generics, 1 w a 446 (made me terribly sick, and 1 w CL 022 which with me did absolutely nothing, the only other generic I have gotten had WW 176 Imprint n it to made me sick. Hope this helps

The reason that the two together can be deadly, they bring your resperations down to the point you stop breathing. Also people tend to take more than they should. My son was drinking with friends and they poured methadone in his alcohol and killed him. On purpose. So please Be Careful.

It figures soma for 10 years has worked for me. If DEA is involved drug dealers must be using it to cut illegal drugs, just guessing
