Hydroco/apap Tab 5-300mg Vs Vicodin

I WAS PERSCRIBED HYDROCO/APAP TAB 5-300MG VS VICODIN . I TOOK ONE AND HAD AN ALLERGIC REACTION. ITCHY ITCHY ITCHY!! I CALLED THE PHARMACY AND HE SAID THE EXACT SAME INGREDIENTS WERE IN BOTH. I CALLED DOCTOR AND HE SAID THE SAME THING! I WANT TO KNOW IF I AM CRAZY FOR GETTING ALLERGIC REACTION TO HYDROCO AND WHY? ALSO THERE HAS TO BE A REASON WHY PERSCRIPTIONS HAVE EXCLUDED VICODIN? DR. OFFICE JUST CALLED ME BACK AND SAID, PLEASE WAIT FOUR DAYS UNTIL THE PHARMACY CAN RECEIVE VIDODIN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen are the active ingredients in Vicodin, so they are the same thing, you were just given a generic.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Did you actually have a rash with hives, or were you just itchy? If there was no rash and hives, then it likely wasn't an allergic reaction, but rather a side effect that narcotics can cause in some people that take them.

The inactive ingredients can be different from the generic to the name brand, but if you are allergic to the Hydrocodone, you will always be allergic to it and that won't change by switching to the name brand.
