How Long Does Methadone Stay In Your System? (Top voted first)

Is Methadone completely out of your system in 72 hours, or does it take longer? Since Methadone seems to last longer that 4 - 6 hours, I was just wondering?

i took 7 methodone\10mg/ on friday dec.9 i will be taking a urine test wed. the 14th of dec. wil i be clean by then?

I took 15mg of methadone on Monday and I was popped with a urine test that gets sent out today. Which is Monday. So exactly 72hrs. I never take methadone but I was having severe kidney pain and took it to try to get some relief. I'm so scared its going to show up. Does anyone know if I will show positive? Please help

It took me 3 months to kick methodone. After that, I had paws for another 4 months. Don't get started on that evil stuff unless you plan to stay on it for life. It's by far the worst withdrawl ever. Beware, you have been warned. Take Suboxone or subutex instead. I can't stress this enough. I wouldn't wish methodone withdrawl on my worst enemy. I went to treatment for one month to kick it. I was twice as sick after my 30 days were up. I had to go straight to a halfway house. Don't, Don't, Don't, Don't, add infintinum

how long does it take for oxycodone and methadone to leave your blood stream???? need the answer asap if anyone is on and knows it.... thank you i have read that it takes 12hrs for opiates to leave your blood stream is there any truth to that???

I took one 10 mg tablet of methadone for 3 days and have a urine test in 3 weeks will those 3 tablets be out of my system by then. I havent taken anymore since then.

Just got a call from my dr. I've been discharged. So yes it did show up. Ill be going to the methadone clinic I guess. I'm so tired of being on this s***. I'm a drug addict because of these drs to begin with. I hate being sick so oh course I'm gonna take something. I'm a functional user because I have ligit problems but regardless, getting on opiods is the stupidest thing I've ever done. Its worse when you really need pain relief.

Thats not exactly true. I take 10mg methadone 3x daily and I took 2 blood test and showed no methadone in my system. Which made my doctor wonder but when I did a U/A it was positive for meth,

Although your system can rid itself of the methadone within about 72 hours in most cases, traces of it will still be detected in your urine for up to 3 weeks...longer if you get a blood test.

I had the test done 2 weeks AFTER I took 5 during a 3 day time period. I had ran out of my normal medication and took these to help with my chronic pain. Needless to say I was kicked out of the treatment plan because I showed positve for methodone.

Although the metabolism of drugs will vary somewhat from one individual to another, the usual period of detection of methadone by a urine drug screen is 5-7 days. Therefore, you should be fine for a test performed in 2 weeks. (This was the reply I just received online and asked this question to a dr. and that was his response to my question?Here is my question to him. I had taken 40 mgs of methadone today. This was the only day I took the methadone. Tomorrow I start back on my oxy's 40 mgs that I have been taking for years but ran out, thats why I took the methadone. I have a urine test in 2 weeks.

yes i on subtext help alot but you dont get pain but without them u still feel bad yes methadone hard to kick the habit you dont feel normal i get up enjoy my day work i enjoying getting up now save money

This is so right. My Dr started me on 40mg a day 1st year. I brought myself down to 10 mg the last 4 yrs. Decided to get off completely by going down to 5 mg for 2 months after that 2.5 mg for a month then half of that for another 4 to 6 weeks. When that was over about two weeks later insomnia kicked in with very restless leg cramping. Even lortab 10 and lunesta 30 mg or ambien didn't help. For 4 days I didn't sleep and was in total misery. My pain Dr called in for me 100 mg of trazadone. It knocked me out. Slept like a baby. The next day it took nearly all day to get over being dizzy and a headache. After that the lunesta started working pretty good. My Dr advised me to take a methadone 10 mg and cut into 8 parts and take a piece at bedtime every other night for another two weeks and it worked. July 15th 2012 was when I stopped methadone and today Nov 9th I'm completely free of that evil drug. Methadone will keep you from craving other drugs but all your doing is swapping one for another and a lot harder to get off. It makes you gain weight, crave carbs, smoke way more and UN-motivated to get up and out to live life. I've watched people who was taking. 60 to 100 mg a day start nodding and fighting to keep there eyes open. This went on all day everyday. Life is over when you are on methadone. You can get it back. It's not gonna be easy or quick but you can do it. If I did anyone can. I've also quit smoking with the help of chanting. Smoked for 26 years 1 1/2 pks a day to none in three weeks now. I don't crave one at all. I do think about it at times but the thought goes away quickly. I'm dealing with it day by day and I'm sure I will for a few weeks to come. Great luck to everyone who has a methadone problem. Never forget, you are not alone and you can do this. It will change your world. One more important thing, never never take Zanex with it. That combination has killed so many people. Research and you will see.

I can tell you I have been on Methadone 90 mg a day for 13 years now. After a recent move I was prescirbed 60 mg Morophine extended realease tablets. 1 every 12 hours. I know I am weak, afraid of the pain and scared of anything new. I looked at the dosing and itseemed to be off. The 1st few days was amazing. I was awake and alert and felt GREAT.

By this time I had read about every last post with my fiance on the web. The 4th to the 7th day was bad. I won't lie. I did try tylonol PM which gave me personally a horrible feeling. Excersise helped alot. For me It ISN'T as bad as everyone says. The worst is the mood swings and depression, but you are in battle with a wicked demon, and cause you feel anything means you are winning. Some days are hard, I won't lie. But the weight falls off, you find yourself eating less and able to be more regular (those who take methadone know). Don't let it defeat you, keep someone who loves you and knows your at war to stand and figh with you.To keep temptaion away. An army is always better than 1.

Imodium will help withdraws, excercise and have sex. Keep busy and don't look at time. Take 1 hr at a time. Don't worry about later. It will only cause anxiesty and depression. Let me assure you, you CAN, you are ABLE and you will accomplish it. It is better to have better years ahead than be a slave to those pills.

You know "will my Dr be in, do I have enough meds, pill counting, looking for new Dr's and all"? I am weak..but getting stronger, I am depressed but find myself laughing alot, I feel better day by day and feel like things will be back to normal in time. Try to excercise and get your endorphines moving.

A FEW moments will make you feel alot better. Take alot of hot baths and get some sleep. Please find peace wherever needed, mediatation I JUST picked up makes me feel strong and able. Tell yourself everyday that there only is 1 you, your unique and no other person on earth is like you. That you feel yourself getting stronger and better. I see myself growing more powerful that the demon and sharpening my mind.

Remember a mind needs reassurance, love, comfort and support as a knife needs a wet stone. I went threw alot and know how you feel. Just stand up, and say " not today". Dig your heels deep in and fight. It is tough but remember you are so not alone. Look around. We all have been here. I just decided to give some hope to those out there like me. If I did it, I KNOW you can. Remember its not what you have done, it's what you have overcome.
