Doriden/glutethimide Availability (Page 2)

Does anyone know where one could obtain glutethimide or it's brand name Doriden (CIBA Company)? Am in Canada where Doriden was discontinued in late 1980s and I was told Doriden discontinue was international. Perhaps there is now a generic form containing glutethimide available now as I would assume CIBA trademark rights would have by now expired. As the benzodiazapine replacement meds for Doriden are more addictive and dangerous (especially if mixing with alcohol & other drugs) it sure would be great to be able to go back to Doriden or glutethimide which were more effective and safer. A shame that the public was switched over to benzodiazipines (i.e. lorazapam, diazapam) when a better/safer product was available all in the name of profits and economics. Any help out there is most appreciated.
Placidyl was discontinued in 1999. It worked good but was highly abused. Doriden (Glutethimide) was magical especially with codeine. Doriden too was discontinued in the US around '93.
Re: Fred (# 110)
Yeah Fred, I just want to do it one more time. A lot of Chinese companies offering Glutethimide is actually Aminoglutethimide(brand name is Cytraden, and made by Ciba), one would think that it would share some of Glutethimides properties. The answer is no, none whatsoever, Aminoglutethimide is used for breast cancer and Cushing's Syndrome. Back in the late nineties I got a prescription for them and thinking that it would do something along with the Fours, but nothing at all. I see several online ads for Glutethimide but if you read the fine print it's actually Aminoglutethimide. I have given up the search too, but if something truly legit comes along I would jump on it. As for Fentanyl, very dangerous and lethal. People think that potent means strong, well it does in a way. But what potent actually means is that it takes a very little amount to do it's intended job. Fentanyl is potent. Glutethimide is strong but not potent, being that the usual dose is 500 milligrams. Placidyl is strong but not potent, 750 milligrams capsules. Dilaudid is potent, dosage is between 1 and 4 milligrams. Fred, hopefully someday me and my old friend Glutethimide will be reunited. There has to be an old mom and pop pharmacy that still has a dusty old bottle of them on a shelf somewhere. If you get a chance google US vs Lartey on case law, its unbelievable. Also US vs Ekinci, another really unbelievable case. Take care
Re: Joseph (# 109)
Unfortunately no. I still check this page randomly to see if you had any luck.
Doesn't look good. I was happy to see you post a note though.
From my experience, the only thing that comes close to the effects is fentanyl which is now extremely difficult to get prescribed and for me, way too risky to acquire any other way. Due to its potency, it is dangerous consuming it when dosage is difficult to determine from unreliable sources.
I have officially given up my search for this grail.
No news about Glutethimide (Doriden) availability? Hey, all that is left is memories. So sad that in the US the DEA practically forced the last remaining manufacturer, Halsey Drug to discontinue manufacturing it.
Re: Fred (# 107)
Same with me. At least you had a few more years of enjoyment with them. There has to be a pharmacy in Budapest that still has them sitting on a shelf in the back somewhere, but I'll never know.
Re: Joseph (# 106)
Nothing new on the glu my man. I should have been a chemist and then make it myself.
Re: Patrice (# 64)
I had a friend of mine who got a few prescriptions for Nembutal in '98 and I even went to the pharmacy with him to pick them up. Also, they do still make Synalgos brand of dihydrocodeine. Any news regarding Glutethimide?
Re: Fred (# 104)
That's true. Soma turns into Meprobamate in your body, do they even still make Miltown? Never tried Soma and codeine though. I don't know what to tell you Fred, looks like Glutethimide is wiped off the face of the Earth. Even if you did have a prescription you can't do anything with it, plus who's going to write a prescription for a drug that is extinct?
Re: Joseph (# 103)
I've heard that here and there as well but seems to me if it were true, it would be widely known by now considering Soma has been around awhile and is relatively easy to get online.
Re: Fred (# 102)
Of course, it's a controlled substance. I just have to face the facts, I probably will not see any Glutethimide in my lifetime. Do you know anything about Soma and codeine? It induces the same liver enzymes as Glutethimide.
Re: Joseph (# 101)
There are a couple of chemical companies in the US that will make Glutethimide and sell it for R&D purposes or potential commercial purpose. I haven't contacted anyone because I assume to place such an order, one would need special licensing.
I'm beginning to lose hope that I'll ever be re-united with my beloved Doriden.
Re: benzo dog (# 99)
I would be ecstatic if real Glutethimide can be found somewhere and I am able to purchase it, but the synthesis of "bathtub" Glutethimide is not so easy, and many mistakes can be made. These online vendors offering Glutethimide will probably send you phenobarbital tablets if anything at all. Keep us posted on any developments.
Re: Joseph (# 90)
Accessing the "dark web" is pretty easy these days. I've filled my rx online many times and that was over 6 years ago when buying Bitcoin was a real challenge. Now it's simple.
Re: Fred (# 97)
I doubt it Fred, I want them too but you have to face the facts. A company say in China for example isn't going to manufacture a few hundred tablets. I am not to optimistic, though I would like to be. I still dream of those days too.
Re: Joseph (# 96)
There are still a couple of pharmaceutical manufacturing companies that have it listed but you have to inquire for pricing. I guess i thought if one had a prescription then they can contact said company to see if its possible to get it made. I know its a loooong shot but I can't give up.
Re: Fred (# 94)
Also, are these pharmacies or pharmaceutical companies? I have seen pharmacies that still have Doriden listed as in stock, they just never deleted it or updated their files. I would like to believe but you have to remember Glutethimide hasn't been made since '06 legitimately.
Re: Fred (# 94)
So many questions I have, where are these pharmacies located? Glutethimide hasn't been manufactured since '06 you know. What physchian would prescribe it for you? But my main question is where are these places that you found located? And just because they are still listed doesn't mean they have them in stock. Hate to burst your bubble.
Re: Joseph (# 93)
There are a few Pharma companies listed that say G is available but no price listed. I would assume one would need some type of license to purchase it but I wonder if a person was able to get a legit script for it, if the Pharma company would sell it? Any thoughts on this Joseph?
Re: Bedtime for Benzo (# 92)
Their (Glutethimide)not made anymore overseas since '06.
