Who is the doctor in Joplin? I live in Joplin, MO and have been to countless pain management specialists that only want to do invasive procedures. I've tried everything from surgery to non-narcotic meds, physical therapy and even a pain psychologist. Nothing but the narcotic pain relievers help. Without them, I have no quality of life. Does anyone know of anyone near Joplin who will give a darn about the pain I'm in and write prescriptions to help?

You will probably have to travel to Tulsa. Its VERY common for people from Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri to travel here so the Dr won't think anything of it.
The Dr I use prescribes 60 mg Oxycontin 2 X Daily and;
Oxycodone 20mg 5 X Daily.
They only require that you see them every 3 Months and they WILL mail your refill prescriptions to you.
It's called Pain Mgmt of Tulsa. Google pmoftulsa
Good Luck and don't forget, Oklahoma DOES have a PMP (prescription monitoring program so DO NOT TRY TO DOUBLE DIP IN THIS STATE or the Cops will be waiting for you at the Pharmacy.

I would also like to sign your petition. I've been on narcotic pain medication for over 15yrs and just recently got kicked out of my pain dr's office. Long story short, I caught my brother and sister-in-law in my lock box that I kept my pain medication in trying to steal some of them so I called the police and kicked them out out of my home. A week later I get a call from my pain Dr telling me she was dropping us because she had received phone calls stating that we were selling our pills which was just not true but Dr Lou was out on vacation when this all took place. She never even gave us a chance to defend ourselves. We took UA's basically every month and always passed. Now because of her we are having a hard time finding another Dr. If anyone knows of a pain Dr that could help please message me at {edited for privacy}. Thanks

How do you go about signing the petition? I have been on pain meds for 10 years now for my back and was told surgery isn't an option unless I am to point of being paralyzed. I also have fibromyalgia . These new laws that are suppose to be putting end to addicts that abuse pain meds are in reality making it so that people who actually need pain meds can't find a Dr to give them to us. It's rediculous.

Do you need a referral to see a doctor at this Tulsa pain clinic? Thank you for taking time to reply to.my question. I am in severe pain every day and you obviously know Joplin doctors won't prescribe anything that will really help.

B very careful of dr Knudsen !!! Due to hi unwilling to listen he almost ruined my husband for life.. He suffered a burst fracture in his spine ( a hard sneeze would have went through the cord) according to every speciAlist in the hospital (5 days in hospital ).. Even then Knudsen said hogwash, 2 months later out of the blue he acknowledged what caused the seizure , behaved as if it was his idea!!!

DO NOT let ANY pain doctor put a pain pump in you! I had two pumps...they have to be replaced every 5 to 7 years. The third pump almost KILLED me. It would overdose me and knock me out one day....then underdose....send me into withdrawal the next day. The pump got infected. I saw the surgeon who implanted it 4 Mondays in a row while it was infected and he did NOTHING but send me to a dermatologist. She sent him a report stating the infection was not topical but deep down in the tissue. The report sat on his desk for 2 weeks until I ended up in the hospital. I had been to the ER but they did NOTHING but send me home. 2 days later I was found unconscious on the floor and admitted to the hospital with 106 degree fever and full blown Bacterial Spinal Meningitis!! The infection travelled from the pump, along the catheter and directly into my spinal fluid. A lot of Drs. Are trying to force patients to get these pain pumps so they don't have to write prescriptions AND, as you have found, they can charge $1,500 a month to refill the pump. The Dr. will tell you there are risks with the pumps just like any medical procedure. However, what they DON'T tell you is that these pumps have been RECALLED by the FDA 33 times since 2008. That's not a typo. 33 times!! My last pump was "reconditioned".....meaning it was taken out of a patient, supposedly sterilized, a new battery put in...then implanted in me. Dr. said it was just a coincidence that it got infected....yeah right. Anyway, take a look at the FDA website and search "medical device recalls" then "Pain pump". What I found out about them (after mine was removed) made me vomit!! You will also find that if there is a problem such as a manufacturing defect with the pump....the manufacturer only has to notify YOUR DOCTOR (yeah....the same Dr. that will do his best to convince you any problems with the pump are all in your head). Don't take my word for it......check out the FDA site. Then Google "medical device litigation preemption". You will find out that even if your pump is proven defective and it KILLS YOU....no one can sue the manufacturer because of a legal loophole called Preemption.

sadly no one will help you here. If I knew a name of a doc I'd certainly share it but Joplin MO is just like that. I suffer many of the same problems and NADA...you get called all sorts of things by those that know nothing of the situation ! Best of luck and if you do find someone please let me know and I will certainly do the same .

The doctor I see is Dr. Phillip Brick and his phone number is 314-983-4014. He's very compassionate and listens to you and very down to earth. I live in Neosho, MO now since my husband retired and I haven't been able to find a doctor who will prescribe the Fentanyl Patch here. I went to Elite Pain Clinic in Springfield, Mo for the last 6 months and they took me off my patch. I've been in pain and fuzzy headed using the medicine they've prescribed. So, I called Dr. Brick and told him I'd like to come back and he's seeing me Monday. It's a long way to go, but worth it. I've had Severe Chronic Pain on the right side of my body for 25 years and Dr. Bricks treated me for 20 years.

THE BEHAVIOR YOU DESCRIBE BY YOUR DOCTORS IS A PROFOUND VIOLATION OF THE STANDARD OF CARE AND MAY BE MALPRACTICE/CRIMINAL. THEY ALSO HAVE YOU ON THREE TIMES THE RECENTLY ESTABLISHED MAX GUIDELINES OF 100MG MORPHINE EQUIVALENT. YOU DO YOUR DOCTORS NO FAVORS BY ANNOUNCING THEIR BEHAVIOR IN A PUBLIC FORUM.

Try Dr Chris Billings DO at the OCH Clinic in Webb City MO. He prescribed me Norco 7.5/325 at my initial appointment but evidently I didn't meet whatever standards he has to continue as his patient. It's worth a shot though. Phone number is (417) 673-0366 and he's only there on certain days as he travels from Gravette AR.

Re: Jim (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

Elite in Springfield no longer gives anyone pain medicine. They only do “treatments”, now. Just went all the way there, and was told this! I am a Chronic Pain patient this area is totally nuts. The AMA regulation 325, that came out in 2018 (!) told doctors they need to treat chronic pain patients with adequate pain medicine, and that the CDC recommendation of tiny amounts, was totally wrong for such patients. To have good standards of care, doctors were supposed to do this and there would be NO legal problems for those that did! No losing license or practice, etc. CMS has new codes coming out with new practice outlines for Doctors to use to be paid for give no Chronic Pain patients over 65, &/or Disabled with chronic pain adequate billing and time for medication appts. What else do doctors in this area need to stop poor standards of care when it comes to helping suffering patients their appropriate pain medication?? We are patients, not addicts!!!! (join online pain warrior groups to keep updated and be heard, there are some there)!
