I have suffered from chronic pancreatitis for the last 20 years. Unfortunately the state stepped in and will not allow my doctor to write my medication for my Dilaudid any longer and I have not been able to find another doctor who will continue to write my prescription for dilaudid. I have never abused my pain medication and it is becoming quite frustrating and depressing that I cannot find a doctor to continue my treatment. it has been the only thing to keep me out of the hospital for the last 6 years. Up until six years ago I was in the hospital every two to three weeks for a period of about 3 years when I was at my worst. I had zero quality of life. Through this treatment I have managed to stay out of the hospital and maintain some quality of life. I do not wish to go back to living ...

At 38 I’m inconstant one pain I have really been couch bound don’t run or play sports I’m just in pain. I’m constantly crouched over and has caused problems in my back. Please help me to a solid doctor who will be sympathetic. My last physician inTX prescribed me Dilaudid 4mg 90qty. Here Florida is a hard I’m int Clearwater St. Pete and Tampa area ## Hi Nick, Unfortunately nobody on this website is going to be able to just point out a doctor who will give you medication, no matter how much pain you're in. There are a few reasons for this but primarily because it's highly likely that any doctor who gives out pain meds easily would be investigated and po...

and fentanyl 150 mcg for spinal stenosis. Cronic pain for years but the last 2 is are finally getting to me. 8 surgeries, 4 major cancer and more, and 4 for hernias and so on. Always wear patch but sometimes 3,4 days mostly pain free don't take deludide. Then the pain hits. 16mg every 4 hrs bearly touches it. You would think not taking for days I would get knocked for a loop. This moring woke up from pain, it was like I woke up in recovery room. Took 24 mg dl and didn't touch it. Whats going on. How long can a person put up with the pain without going loony. Having pain like I have for the past 2 years is really mentally fatiguing ## You are building a very strong tolerance to opioids you have to go on a long acting pain killer like methadone. If you continue to increase your dos...

I take Oxymorphone and it helps. I just wanted to check to see which one is better, Oxymorphone 10mg er or Dilaudid 8mg? Thanks a lot! :-) ## There is no definitive way to say, it depends on you and which one works best to relieve your pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. If the Oxymorphone works well for you, then it might be best to stick with it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Timilan, Dilaudid in most clinicians estimation provides a greater degree of analgesia. For purposes of diversion control most opt. to rx oxymorphone which is also an excellent pain reliever. It's sad when considerations for prescribing are based on anything b...

I have a York is with cancer and can't afford to go to the vet. She weighs about 8 pounds and I have some 4 mg tabs of dilaudid can I give her 1 mg for her pain, she is contently licking that area. Please let me know something asap thanks and God bless. ## Sasha ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! I'm very Sorry to hear about your situation but Hydromorphone ( dilaudid ) MUST be Carefully titrated for individual use.You should never administer a controlled dangerous substance for someone Other then the person or dog unless Directed by a Doctor or Vet.Please contact a local animal hospital for advice on how to proceed. ## Im sorry about your dog. I too have a dog in bad shape. I also thought about giving him the meds I have here. I know all about controlled substances or I wouldnt have any. Him...

I just moved to the area, and i really need a new pain management doctor to prescribe me my roxys. i know its hard these days to find a doctor who isnt scared to prescribe these but does anyone know of a doctor in the area of charlotte NC who will prescribe good pain medication, i have chronic pain and fibromyalgia. i really need my pain medication! please help. ## Depending on how far you want to drive but Dr. Hansen in Norfolk, VA sees patients in NC. He will write Roxy's or whatever else. He will put you on an ER opiate and then the Roxys. He is a concierge doctor though. $125 a month plus insurance copays every two months. But if I were you and you have all the documentation...just find a Pain Management doctor in your area. I didn't even know doctor's wrote roxy's f...

Is there a dilaudid shot that i can get from my drs office? We have tried all painkillers for the chronic pancreatitis i have. I go to the er about every week. If i could get a shot at the dr's office it would eliminate going to the er. 1 mg of dilaudid iv seems to be the only thing that works. I took 4 mg of dilaudid tablets for a long time. Now i have to go to the er. ## Carol, I have found cases in which people were prescribed an oral version of hydromorphone (dilaudid), so at least there is the possibility of you being able to get a prescription for it. You would need to set up an appointment with your primary care physician and see if they agree that this is the best route for you after reviewing your medical history. I would like to add that hydromorphone contains an opioid an...

My daughter was given this dilaudid after the surgeon removed her pancreas. having taken hydromorphone in the past for her debilitating pain, it has always offered relief. This (new manufacturer) pill does not give her the same results as the pills she had before this script was filled. These are white triangular, 8 mg tablets. One side has an 8 on it, the opposing side has an m. ## Rx card please?? ## How is she doing? These tablets do containing 8mgs of Hydromorphone, which is a narcotic analgesic. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation, and dry mouth. Corona, what type of card are you seeking? Did you find one that works for you?

Been prescibed dilaudid last few months as a breakthru med. 4mg 2x day as/if needed. So I haven't taking everyday & somtimes 1/2 of the 4mg. Mainly take ms contin er. How long taking the dilaudid b/4 I go thru withdrawal if I stop taking the dilaudid?? Been on it here & then a few months?? Or taking the ms contin for yrs. Wouldn't that prevent withdrawal ??? Please help!? ## Such a small amount of hydromorphone should not cause a problem as far as withdrawal goes. I would be more concerned about the morphine XR than the D's. ## Bruce is correct, though we are all different, so there is a small risk of your experiencing withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, constipation, and mood changes. They also warn ...

I need to find a test to find if I was, in fact, given Dilaudid 2 shots, Toradol 8mg and Morphine 8mg in the ER via IV injection. Valium 10mg, first, then 2 shots of Dilaudid and Toradol 4 to 8mg all at the same time. One hour later I was given 8mg of Morphine....I only felt the Valium and no relief from the pain. I released myself AMA and the hospital is conducting an Internal Investigation as their records show I was indeed given ALL these medications. They want to know who or where they went as they are all Schedule 3 Narcotics and I have informed them that I had bloodwork done and am having a Hair Test done which I believe shows when and what drugs have been introduced into my system. If that test in Negative as was the blood tests, then they want to see me about it. HELP ANYONE who...

Hi. I have been taking Dilaudid ER pills for several years now. I do not abuse them and take around 4 of the 8mg pills a day. I cannot find any information online regarding the sexual side effects that Dilaudid may have for females. It seems to be that reaching an orgasm is near impossible now... I am also on Opana so I am trying to figure out which is the culprit. Maybe they both are contributing factors but maybe there is information out there in the community that can help me. I have never had this problem before and it is frustrating me a lot. Any insight or advice would be appreciated. ## Eh man, it's the opana. I'm on opana er 40mgs an yep it will ruin you every time :-) :-) :-) :-) ## It may be caused by either one, or both. It is a hazard of using such medications, they ...

I had a nightly routine for sleep that worked very well until adding dilaudid. My husband would wake me telling me I was screaming in my sleep, I have not had nightmares just a lot of chatter that last night caused a terrible fight this has not happened before I started dilaudid and baclofen, so which is the villian ## I am not a doctor, but I have to say that the best guess would be the Dilaudid, if it was the one most recently added. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Many of these medications can cause odd, vivid dreaming. Why did your chatter cause a terrible fight? Do you have any idea what you were saying? I've had this occur, before, and my husband just wok...

I have probation tomorrow and have been taking dilaudid about 12mg for bout four days. will it show up as an opiate or something else? ## Hi Claudia, Based on information I've gathered, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) does not show up in the basic opiate test which is part of the standard pre-employment drug test. The opiate test tests primarily for morphine (which both codeine and heroin break down into). Hydromorphone does not break down into morphine, therefore it is not detected. As with most substances, hydromorphone is possible to test for, but this is extremely uncommon. The information above is referenced from: I hope this helps! ## I am wondering if there is anything that shows up the same as hydromorphone? My ua is for a pain management clinic so they test for more then the stand...

I am a stage IV cancer patient and member of an invitational research and survey type website. Members primarily consist of other stage IV cancer patients, but in some cases, may be the caregiver of a stage IV patient. A little over a month ago, a caregiver launched a blog-like diary of sorts. He states his wife has end-stage, metastasized, breast cancer. His postings started with news his wife had to be hospitalized when she began the dying process and indicating shut-down. However, many of his statements do not sound clinically correct or even possible. For example, after she was admitted to the hospice section of the hospital, he stated she emerged from days of a coma-like state to experience what he called a rally. This rally consisted of engaging in conversation with himself and ho...

I am changing from 125 mcg of Fentanyl with 10 mg oxycodone 4x daily to hydrpmorphone and Lyrica since pain isn't being controlled. What should the new dosings be? I weigh about 170 lbs. ## Hello, Celeste! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. As to the Lyrica, there is no conversion for it, since it is not actually an analgesic like the others. It is actually an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. And if your switching out the Oxycodone for the Hydromorphone for breakthrough pain, you'd need 3.75mgs of Hydromorphone to equal each 10mgs of Oxycodone. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the p...

white k4 ## i had some white k 4 was supposed to be dilaudid that is what the pharmacy said anyway ## I haven't been able to find any records for a white tablet with this marking. Can you please double check the imprint and post back? Dilaudid is a narcotic that is used to treat moderate to severe pain. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

Hi everyone, My mom has a dilaudid pump thing. I really don't know much about it in terms of dosage or anything. She's had 6 back surgeries. She has been having a drink or two (vodka) every now and then. Is that problematic? Thanks in advance, Liz ## Hello, Liz! How is your mom doing? The problem with mixing a narcotic and alcohol is due to the fact that they both cause depression of the central nervous system, so it could result in lowered heart rate, blood pressure and shallow breathing. It can also cause aggravation of some of the side effects, so she may feel more dizziness, drowsiness and nausea than usual, because it kind of potentiates each drink. The best thing to do would be to have her check with her doctor. In some cases, there may not be any issues with someone havin...

I would like to talk to anyone who has a pain pump with Dilaudid. My mother has a pain pump and I am worried she will be on it for the rest of her life. She has had the pump for many years and I feel it has affected her greatly. She had to have all her teeth pulled because they were rotting and she also has a problem with her tongue burning and red all the time. I am worried she will never get off the pain pump because she is addicted... she also falls asleep all the time even while you are talking to her. Thanks for any advice. Teresa. ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, this is a narcotic analgesic. There is a different between addiction and dependence. Dependence, which is more than likely what is happening to your mother, occurs when you are just using somethin...

I want the pump taken out and to be put back on oral meds... Can they fill me with saline and wean me down orally? I don't want the pump filled again. I'm scared of leaks. Something has been going on and I want it out. They say they have to fill it again and wean me off. ## You have to be weaned off slowly from the pump which takes several months to do. If you are having pain you should remain on it then have the medication adjusted accordingly. Fear of having complications is not a valid concern for removing your pain pump. With the recent television reports of opioid abuse your doctor will NOT follow your request to be put on oral pain meds.. You may be seen as an abuser looking for oral pain medication ## My mom has had a morphine pain pump for over 3yrs. Just a couple weeks ...

i need to know about this pill ## I'm assuming you're referring to Dilaudid, since the name is commonly misunderstood. It is a potent narcotic pain reliever that contains Hydromorphone.
