hey everybody. A pain management patient. And I am trying to find a new doctor right now I am trying to find a doctor hopefully in the West Bank area and who is a generous Dr. And compassionate. I have seen many doctors over the past 5 years and I take very very large amounts of narcotics because of my incredibly severe injuries to my spine a Mississippi River barge accident. I was told by the people at Tulane Hospital I was the absolute worst they have ever seen. So yeah.. I need to find a new doctor right now who can prescribe me medicine that I need to be on. Specifically looking for a doctor who not only would take my insurance, but who is also prescribed me my dilaudid IV medicine that I can take home from the pharmacy.any kind of help would be much appreciated. Thank you. ## Hello...

2 months ago i had taken a xanax a day before i had to see my sub doc (i know stupid but i thought my world was ending). i told him the truth though, and he said we can get past it. But the next month (last month) he told me i tested positive for dilaudid! This has been eating me alive because i wear my sobriety as a badge and i was ashamed i had taken a xanax. I argued with him but he wouldn't explain. I had looked up the xanax to be careful. Also they had given me a mouth swab test instead of urine that day and i had a sub in my mouth. Can some one please help me figure this out?

Who is the manufacturer of the tiny, round, yellow dilaudid 4mg tablet? My pharmacy recently switched to dilaudid 4mg made by Mallinck. They do not work as fast or as long. I find myself needing them 3x day instead of 2x day. And they take an extra 20 minutes to work. I want to find a pharmacy that continues to use the manufacturer of my previous Rx. Thank you so much. ## My pharmacy just did the same thing I feel you. The yellow ones, if they have a p imprint a made by Purdue pharma lp. Otherwise "Mallinck" is probably short for "Mallinckrodt" ## Rhodes is the manufacturer of a small round yellow tablet imprinted with a pet on one side and 4 on the other. ## Yellow oral are the color of 4mg dilaudid, and the P is from the manufacturer only. Other features include a whit...

Hi. I suffered a L1/L2 complete SCI injury some 4 years ago. After 6-7 weeks when the spinal shock wore off I noticed I had a burning pain in my lower groin area even though I can't really feel much below my hips, we thought maybe it was a UTI but all showed negative. It was diagnosed as chronic nerve pain and it never goes away, I get acute nerve pains in my legs on top of this chronic pain. I have been taking 10mg Oxycodone four to five times per day and methadone 10mg once a day for the chronic pain + 800mg Gabapentin three times a day for the burning in my legs. The only way I have been able to keep my doses so low over the years is by being very hard on myself as to when to take the pain meds but as hard as I have tried I'm now going up to around 60mg total Oxycodone per da...

I have been receiving generic dilaudid 2 mg which were round white pills with M on one side and 2 on the other. I just filled my dilaudid which came from Med-Fast and the pill is a salmon-orange color with a P and a 2 on them, but nowhere does it say generic for dilaudid. After taking the first pill, I was very very itchy. Could this be a different generic drug? Oh, by the way there was a RED STICKER that said - DO NOT USE BEYOND 9/30/2016. I called the pharmacy and they said it is okay to take. I'm concerned. I have many allergies and with this dilaudid I was getting I did not have any side effects. ## Hello, Rose! How are you? The pharmacy doesn't actually have to list on the label that it is a generic for any particular name brand, though they should make sure that you are aw...

This is the first night I did not need to take a pill. I take Ambien to sleep. I woke up shaking and my leg were moving. Ingot up to walk around, drank water, went back to bed, can't sleep. so I took one of my husbands Xanax I took 1/2 of a .5, try to rest and fall asleep, no good, 1/2 hour later I took another 1/2 of Xanax. Inothing I can't sleep. I don't know what else I can do. Need some input, I would greatpo;d greatly appreciate it. Thanks Carol ## Benzos will often strengthen the opiate, but not the other way around. You may want to speak to your doctor about Ambien. The side effects are minimal and I have had great success with several of my clients. Xanax is not a sleep drug. It is more for anxiety and where it may relax you, it does not often bring about REM sleep. If ...

My mom went to the emergency room and we think they gave her Dilaudid instead of tylenol for pain which was not in anyway severe or the reason she was there. After that she was totally knocked out and now 2 1/2 days later is in a semi comatose state. Could this be the result of being given that drug mistakenly? ## If you look on the paperwork from your E.R. room visit you’ll be able too see exactly what they did from the diagnostic to determine what was wrong with your mother to what type of medications they gave her while she was there and what they sent home with her for a prescription.. usually all doctors are very very tedious about what they prescribe elderly people and what is age-appropriate also with the opioid epidemic that is going on the crisis with people becoming addi...

My doctor knew nothing about how this medication would work in my system. And am upset because my behavior changed drastically while taking it with the Fetenyl pain patch. Doctor then changed me to hydrocodone quickly one day. He had given me so much I had memory loss and ultimately a stroke. Anyone else have same trouble with this dose of diladid.? Doctor insisted I take it until memory loss set in. ## I am very sorry about what happened to you. However, no one can know how any given medication will affect anyone, if they've never taken it before. Opiates have been known to cause personality changes in some people that take them, as well as memory issues, as listed by the FDA. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such...

Hello~I'm on oxy 80's and dilaudid 4mgs which are prescribed for back pain. The oxys alone don't help at all. I get dilaudids tomorrow, but will be out of oxys. Does anyone know if the dilaudid alone will help? Thanks ## How did it work? Did you get any pain relief? Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, which is very potent, but if you've been taking 80mgs of the Oxycodone, then you'd need 30mgs of it to be equivalent for analgesia. Learn more Dilaudid details here. Learn more Oxycodone details here. ## Hey! I sort of figured out the conversion and was taking 30 mg. or more of Dilaudid a day. I continue to be in around the clock pain. I believe I need to take the Oxycontin and Dilaudid in conjunction with one another. Thanks for responding! ## 10 MGS...

I was prescribed Dilaudid 2mg for the repair of an incisional hernia. Pain maiintenance has been a problem in as much as I cannont in the least tollerate even 2mgs of dilaudid. In the hospital was one matter. At home I was scared, felt on and off as if I were dying and very week to the point that I could barely make it to the kitchen to eat even oatmeal It would take me 10 to clean up a small kitchen spill because I was so weak. I switched to 600 mg IB and was chastised by the Advice Nurse for even considering IB and to switch immediately to Tylenol. My Question is this: Has anyone every been successful with pain maintenance with Tylenol Extra Strength or with 1/2 a 2 mg Dilaudid pill. Though still so afraid of Dilaudid. Thank YOU ## It really depends on what works for you. If Tylenol/A...

I have severe fibromyalgia and arthritis. I am in severe pain most of the time with no relief. ## Hello, Sherri! How are you? If you require such a medication for the long-term ongoing treatment of pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year. Most general practitioners aren't going to want to take the risk of prescribing it. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What is your general location? This information might en...

I have been on Dilaudid for over 2 years now and I can't seem to get off of it. I'm under a doctor's care, but anyone who is on it knows it's very addicting! I think like everybody else, it's no good if you take it orally. It's only effective other ways. I always run out of Dilaudid before my prescription is ready to refill and recently I filled a script for oxycontin 40 mg to see if they could replace my 4 mg Dilaudid. However, I took 1/2 of a 40 mg. and felt nothing. An hour later I took my 4 mg Dilaudid and it seems to have worked. But they are very short lived, that's why for chronic pain they like to give these stupid time release pain pills. How many mg.'s does equal the same amount of Dilaudid? I also would like to know if anyone has ever tapered o...

What is stronger, a Dilaudid 8mg or Opana 10mg? I was taking Dilaudid 8mg every 6 hrs for six months and then the pain would come back in three hours. My doctor has switched me to Opana 10mg er and this is the second day... I am in so much pain. How long will it take for Opana to be effective? I'm suffering, help. ## Hello, Dana! How are you doing? I am so sorry that you're in pain. You need 10.67 mgs of the Opana to equal each 8mgs you were taking of the Dilaudid, so the 10mg ER is not an equivalent dose, which likely explains your problem. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you contacted your doctor? You need to let them know that this dose...

Which is stronger 8 milligrams of Dilaudid or methadone ## Appendix 1 in the following link displays a clinician's "equi-analgesic dosing guide equivalency table" that you may want to have a look at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1163279 My opinion based on the chart linked above is that because each drug's onset, duration of action, half life and overall potency are different, there's no easy/safe way to predetermine what an equivalent dose might be without undergoing the process of trial and error. Not to mention that some patients are also rapid metabolizers of certain opiates/opioids, which may offset any predetermined data we come up with in regards to drug efficacy. Having said that, I think even if someone else reported one or another to be stronger, the pa...

I am looking for a compassionate doctor in the Richmond VA area who will prescribe pain medication. ## HI, BlueBell! How are you? The current situation isn't that doctors aren't compassionate, it's that there are strict regulations in place regarding what they can and cannot prescribe, how much they can prescribe, how long they can prescribe it and why they can prescribe it. It's really tied their hands in many cases. If you have a condition that requires strong pain medications for long-term treatment of chronic pain, then your best bet is most likely going to be to see a pain management specialist. Do you have a general practitioner that you see regularly who may be able to refer you to someone? Does anyone else know of a good doctor in that area? ## I do know a pain d...
