I'm curious as to why someone would give you a prescription based tube of cream without telling you what it was. Bad business...

Clobetasol propionate cream and ointment contain the active compound clobetasol propionate; a synthetic corticosteroid, for topical dermatologic use.

It is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Treatment beyond 2 consecutive weeks is not recommended, and the total dosage should not exceed 50 g/week because of the potential for the drug to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.

Please post back if you have any other questions or comments to add.

I was given this foam and because my scalp sores are so acute, it hurts to put it on. I feel like a deep pain penetrates down my head. Also, my doctor rx'd it for 6 weeks even though 2 weeks is the recommended maximum. Questions: 1) Is this sensation typical and 2) should I be concerned that the doctor is not heeding the recommended time for use in the package? Thank you. It is not working on my scalp and my doctor has yet to take a sample to see what we are really dealing with.

I agree, it is bad business. The doctor's response to my inquiry on this was not helpful. The warnings were not heeded.
Turns out that my hunch about there being something else was right. I pressed that a culture be taken and it was the right move. I had a staph infection on my scalp. The script did nothing. Antibiotics did.

Please explain what Clobetasol Propionate Cream USP,0.05% Is for when used in the vaginal area in and around the hole? I have no itching, no burning, nothing. Didn't know they were there and don't know how long they have been there. I haven't had intercourse with anyone in a very very very long time. One Dr. Told me it was skin tags down there. Another OB/GYN said no its not and gave me this cream. And it says to use daily for up to 4 weeks. Please help me understand. Thank u.

Dr gave me clobetasol Propionate cream to mix with Clotrimazole cream for viginaitis it burns and causing me more pain then ever I can't even sleep says it takes 2 weeks and it will stop after that. This is not making sence to me to take medicine to help relieve pain but must go through more pain then started with for 2 weeks before I feel any relief really? Confused

I developed a contact dermatitis on my shoulders, upper back and near my neck wound following surgery 12 days ago. Culture shows a staff infection though not clear what caused it. Surgeon gave me a 6 day dosepack of medrol which unfortunately did nothing for the rash or itchiness. I saw a dermatologist yesterday who prescribed clobetasol cream .05%. Applied it last night and then again this morning. The itching is driving me up a wall. No relief yet.
Does it work for my condition? How long does it take to begin to work?

I am looking at my husband's tube of this stuff right now. Doctor gave him an Rx for because he had a swollen looking bulge on his elbow that itched and hurt. Elbow was white and ugly looking. After less than a few days use, my husband's elbow is completely healed and the skin looks like normal skin. I would have to say that it's pretty darn good stuff - this Clobetasol Propionate Cream, USP, 0.05%. If you have a good doctor, trust him. If not sure, do what I just did - research, research, research.

For reasons unknown, while I was in the hospital for surgery, I developed a pinky red blotchy and raised itchy rash on my shoulders and across my upper back. The dermatologist called it contact dermatitis which is just a catch all phrase when they don't know the cause. The derm prescribed clobetasol cream .05% twice a day. It took 3 days but my rash gradually receded and completely resolved.

I was prescribed chlobetesol .05% cream for a contact dermatitis that I somehow picked up when I was hospitalized for surgery. After 3 days/nights of applying it to my upper back, neck and shoulders, the insanely itchy and bumpy red rash, subsided and then completely resolved. To that point, no other OTC hydrocortisone cream did a thing. And even a prescription based hydrocortisone .01% cream which I tried prior, did not help one bit.

I had suffered for several years with increasing pain and itching of vaginal area, as well as other, seemingly unrelated ailments. I was seen by several Gynecologists, Gastroenterologists, and GPs. By the summer of 2016, the pain had become acute. I was having problems just urinating and defecating. I returned to the OB/GYN again, and was about to be prescribed another Lubricant, when the Dr. suddenly wondered if I might be suffering with Lichen Planus. Clobetasol Propionate was prescribed, as well as an appointment with a Dermatologist. A course of Cortisone (oral), with the Clobetasol Propionate, and all of the symptoms were relieved within two weeks.
