Updated

I've been on Mirtazapine for 4 weeks and don't feel any better, I can't stop crying and have dark thoughts. Has anybody else experienced this? Please help me.

I have been on this medication for seven years. I have always felt better with it until about 3 months ago. Now I'm more depressed than ever. More crying. More things are bothering me that usually wouldn't. And more suicidal thoughts now than EVER before. Not sure why.? Anyone else had any negative effects. And if so what should I do.

Look meds are good when we are sick and feeling depressed , but if you are having dark thoughts go back to your Dr and get ur meds ajusted , call family and frinds before doing anything crazy and tell them how you feel , you.re not alone in this world , make that call , get linked with family and friends , HUGGGSSSS

YES YES YES. I AM NOT DEPRESSED! Used it as a sleep aid after some PTSD issues. Now feel very trapped. Sleep or possibility have the PTSD keep me awake all night. It used to be ok even at the incredibly low dose of 2-3.75mg. Like I said, I am not depressed, but this, while puts me to sleep, smoothly, without the PTSD issues, the next day, I can feel like I should not exist.

Mirtazapine is a tricyclic antidepressant and if it is not helping after 4 weeks of use, you may need a higher dosage or it might not be the right medication to help you. Not everything works for everyone.

Have you contacted your doctor about this, yet?

You may need to try a different class of antidepressant, such as an SSRI, like Paroxetine:
