Cephalexin is an antibiotic that is used to treat many types of infections.

Have you consulted your doctor or dentist?

To avoid the danger of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, it is very important to only use them, when you are certain that an infection is present.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.

I have just finished a course of amoxicillin for a tooth infection which appears to have cleared up but my sinus infection hasn't. Can I take Cephalexin 500mg for this? I can't see the doctor for 2 days and don't want to risk the tooth infection coming back.

To answer your question, Yes you can use Cephalexin (Keflex) for a tooth infection. I was just treated this week for a severe tooth infection that spread up to my eye, cheek, and upper lip. The ER had prescribed me Clindamycin until I could get to a Dentist. One I got to the dentist (the very next morning) he did a root canal to drain most of the infection at the source, and then prescribed Cephalexin 500 mg for the remainder of the infection in my face and any infection still in tooth. He recommended that I stop taking the antibiotics prescribed from the Dr and immediately start the Cephalexin......so yes you can take Cephalexin (Keflex)

Hi. I went to the dentist 4 days ago. At first I was suffering from a migraine for 4 days before the tooth pain started. His diagnosis was 2 abscess as well as a gum infection. I was prescribed erythromycin 500mg 3x a day. It doesn't help at all. He said that I have to give it 2 more days. Although I told him my jaw and glands are swollen and I've got terrible pain in my legs. It started in the early hours of last night. I feel terrible and so weak, and my heart is racing. Please, I need advice urgently. Thank you.
