Can these be taken together in the evening? And will it be effective for 24 hrs? I'm too sleepy during the day!! ## Hi, Margo! You really should check with your doctor, before changing to taking them at night. It's really going to depend on your blood pressure levels and heart rate, as well as the symptoms. Usually, it's preferred that they be taken in the morning, to help control your blood pressure and heart rate during the times of day that you'll be most active and therefore experiencing the most fluctuations. But if you are severely drowsy from them, they may allow you to switch to taking them at night. Another alternative is splitting up the doses, so you take part of your dose in the morning and then the rest in the evening, which could lessen the side effects. Ma...

I need to view medication that are healthy alternative for Amlodipine ## What alternative medication if any that could be suggested for amlodipine. I am researching. I know that my doctor has the last word. This one is causing serious swelling of my feet. Is it correct to assume that this medication is exclusive and no other can replace it? Don't think so. ## Hi, Derrick! Sorry about the edema problem that you're having. There are many other medications available that could replace it, but it depends on what you're using it to treat. Are you treating high blood pressure, or some other cardiac issue? If you're just treating hypertension, you may do well with Metoprolol. Learn more Metoprolol details here. Has anyone experienced migraine headaches while taking Amlodipine? ## No headaches but watched my blood pressure increase up to 200/95 immediately after it was swallowed. In the beginning it was okay but they changed manufacturers and who knows what inactive ingredients were added. Quit taking it and now only take Brand name Dyazide 37.5mg/25 mg capsule once a day in the morning same time every day. I even tried brand name NORVASC (amlodipine besylate) and that increased my blood pressure up to stroke levels. ## I have had no problem with Amlodipine. According to this search on the National Insitute of Health's pill identifier [NIH Search Link] there is a amlodipine pill that has the imprint 238 and IG on the back, which could easily be mistaken for a 16. Below is some additional information that I sourced from the NIH website on this medication. Product Code: 76282-238 Name: Amlodipine 5 MG Oral Tablet Ingredient(s): Amlodipine Besylate Imprint: 238;IG Label Author: Exelan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Color(s): White Shap...

is the medicine amlodipine besylate medicine time released. ## Hi Barbara, Usually if a medication is time-released it will have one of the following abbreviations at the end of the drug name: XL, ER, SR, or perhaps some other similar notation. From my experience, if a label doesn't actually specify that it's time released in such a way, then it would probably be safe to assume that it's not. However, if you happen to know what the imprint/markings are on your tablet, I'd be happy to verify this for you. I hope this helps! ## The markings on his pill are IG on one side and 239 on the other. Thanks for the help ## What does BES after the printed name? ## @Barbara, My apologies for the late reply, as I just received notification of recent activity on this thread. I'm s...

I take amlodipine besylate 10mg + lisinopril 40mg + metoprolol 25mg, but because it is a holiday, of course, my blood pressure is sky high, 197/101 at the lowest. How can I lower it fast? I need help. ## Hi Babs, Sorry to hear about your condition. I think from an outside perspective, the most I can suggest is to simply find ways to remain calm and stress-free throughout the day. It's always easier said than done, but if it were me, I may consider practicing meditation, taking a moment to stop whatever I'm doing & giving myself a break from reality (or other relaxing strategies you come up with). Some deep breathing exercises may be beneficial as well. Also, from a dietary standpoint, I'd find ways to cut back on sodium, heavily processed foods and any artificial ingredi...
