Althea For Acne Cure

Hi! I'm a 30 y/o single female not sexually active & have never been pregnant; with a history of PCOS (diagnosed when i was 19) and with it comes severe facial/back acne & other skin problems . To correct my condition, my OB prescribed Gracial OCP, which i have to take for a month. As promised, i got my period after finishing the whole pack. However my body seemed to not favor the pill as i gained immense weight immediately, acne got more severe, arm pit /groin darkened severely & dark brown spots appear on my nape and cheek, my skin was at the worse, i was bloated all the time i looked pregnant! It was the most horrible experience of my life. It took it's toll on my self esteem, i was depressed for a while due to my appearance...In my exasperation I did my own research on how to handle this situation of mine; and so i have been introduced to this anti-androgen ocp. This pill is being prescribed to correct conditions such as PCOS, Hirsutism, severe acne, scalp problems...So I started using Althea OCP a few years ago,late 2007 to be exact. Indeed, this ocp was heaven sent! I've never felt like a real woman since my Althea encounter. My period was doing great, like a newly fine-tuned car!I can easily predict and time my cycle. Had no problems with pms either. No weight gain, no fluid retention at all. Acne cleared up, both face and back! Pits/groin lighten. My skin was terrific too; it was smooth, subtle, hair finer & most blemishes were gone! I was getting a LOT of compliments about how my skin looks,they say i look like i have that classic asian porcelain skin. Even I can see my skin was glowing. Even after my period was regulated, I continued taking the pill mainly for the skin benefits i was getting. The only thing that strikes me was the appearance of my varicose. Purple & green Spider Nevi started to appear on both legs. They were so visible as my skin tone was on the fair shade. But considering the many good effects on my overall appearance, i chose to dismiss my worries on those unsightly veins. Albeit the nevi's, I was at my best I have to say because it boost my self esteem 10 notch higher! For the first time, i looked beautiful, it really felt good looking good... However, I have learned that long term use of OCP's like Althea may cause other serious reproductive health problems in the future(breast CA,cervical CA, uterine ca etc..). So i decided to stop using the pill (late 2010) and have not used it for more than a year now. Even without the pill my cycle is still doing good, still predictable, no problem from pill withdrawal even if a had been a religious user for 3 strait years. Sadly, my face/ back acne is acting up again! they are once again popping up like mushrooms even at my early 30's! Toners, skin cleansers, pore minimizers name it I've used it! But still to no avail.... My face and back produces more sebum than ever before. I've also noticed that hair on my arms and legs are now darker and thicker in strand. There's also fine dark hair growing on my back. My skin is not as "wonderful' as it used to be. I really don't like this roller coaster of emotions due to my bad acne and bad skin in my early 30's. I want to ask your medical opinion on this, as I am desperate and could not afford to see a doctor due to my financial constraints..I am planning to once again take Althea OCP to help correct my skin condition as this is really depressing for me. Would you recommend that I take up Althea again to help with my skin problem? I'm using Althea for two months and its good for me.before I have a lots of pimples decided to choose althea.now my skin is very good for only two months.its become more whiter and smoother.akla ko nga dati d true.but I use DAT and definetly sure that its good and cheeper unlike s other brand n mas cheaper kso dmi nmn side effects.Althea for me is best..

Ive been using other brand of contraceptive pills..21 cycle also like althea, I want to try althea can i just take it after a week break after my menstrual period like the usual cycle of my pills or shoud i take it on the first day of my menstrual period. thanks

Hello po. Nagtake ako ng althea para sa pimples ko. Nung first two weeks nabawasan siya then nung nasa 3rd week na bigla nalang siya dumami. Pang third pack ko na po ngayon (2 tablets palang natake ko) hindi padin siya nababawasan. Ititigil ko na po ba yung pagtake ng althea?

Hi! Been reading posts about Althea pills. I'm a first time user and was diagnosed with PCOS. The symptoms for me was acne and irregular menstruation. So before taking pills make sure that it is recommended by your doctor. Whatever the cost is you really really have to be checked by a doctor and an obgyn for ultrasound. My doctor also told me that the effect of the pills is that it will bring out all the acne then eventually it will clear out. Just have patience..

Guys nagtatake padin po ako ngayon ng althea pills and it's true nagclear nga pimples ko nung third month, patience lang talaga. Kaso nagkaUTI ako and my doctor prescribed me to take amoxicillin. I heard medyo nababawasan nung gamot na yun yung effect ng pills. Magkakapimples ba ulit ako what? Tsaka kailangan ko ba magleave ng 7 days para magtake ulit or pagkayari nung isang pack another pack na kagad ulit?

Hello po, gumagamit po aq dati ng ibang brand ng pills for almost one year po. pru nagkapimples po aq ang dami po. so nagdesayd po aq magpachk up s ob gyne q po para makapag palit po aq ng pils. althea po ung neresita nya sakin pru in advice n dn po n antayi q muna ung nxt menstruation q para makapag start aq ng althea pills. dapat po nung dec. 4 po un. pru hangang ngaun po dec. 19 na ay wala pa po ang menstruation q.. tapus ung pimples q po mas lalo pa dumarami. so ang gnawa q po nag desayd aq mag start n ng pils ung althea 1st tablet palang nman po naiinum q. s pag babakasakali po n mwala n ang pimples q. pru d q po maalis n mag alala po. anu po dpat q gawin? Hi po, im Ann. I'm 28 years old. Married. Almost 4 years na po aq gumagamit ng althea pills sa katunayan po maganda yung effect sakin gumanda ang skin q nwala ang pimples ko tlagang hiyang ako. Pero nka stop ako sa pag inom ng althea for 3 months kasi wla na ako pangbili nag try ako ng microgynon pills sa health center humingi ako kasi libre lng nman, bumalik yung pimples ko sa mukha mas worst pa dun pati sa katawan ko meron din. Tapos po nag althea na nman ako ngayon hindi pa naubos ang isang cycle or wla pang 1 month. Ask ko lang po bakit hindi pa nawawala yung pimples q na im using althea already na? Mawawala pa kaya ito? hi try RETIN A combination with Benzoyl Peroxide use it alternate , don't have any problem using it maybe of my Asian skin I use BP every night, Retin just used it once, for this week,, but read a lot of comment not sure if the comment were from to Europe, not sure if Europian has more sensitive skin. using it from a week now so far no bad side effect, no oily skin and acne fade little by little.

Hi. I've been suffering from severe acne for almost 3 months now. I already tried applying all types of medicine from toners, creams, soaps, home remedies, etc. to cure acne but to no avail, and the sad part is it only got worst. Now, my OB prescribed me Althea pills (I still did not take it, coz I'm still waiting for my period to start). My question is, can it really cure acne problems? And how about the scars/marks? Will it lessen/clear the skin?
