I have been taking opiates everyday. Yesterday I decided to start suboxone to detox at home. I took 12mg of suboxone too soon and went into severe withdrawal. I had to take more opiates to make symptoms subside. I've taken nothing for 22 hours now. IS IT SAFE TO TAKE SUBOXONE NOW? ## Hello, Shannon! How are you? No, you need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone, or it will keep throwing you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just realized i miss my daily dose of angeliqu yesterday! I took my dose this morning. Should i tKe yesterdays today too? ## Hi Kay! Just continue on taking them every day. Some people double up and some don't. It wouldn't hurt if u decided 2 double up. But usually if u miss a dose of pills, you would just take it as soon as u remember, unless your close 2 the time. 4 your next dose. ## @Kay, I realize Cats68 already responded, but if you need any additional clarification, I did come across some facts from the manufacturer that may help. According to the manufacturer's webpage, if you miss a dose of Angeliq (Drospirenone + Estradiol), they recommend taking it as soon as possible. However, they also go on to state that, "if more than 24 hours have gone by since your mis...

Hi, My friend is suffering from depression and also suicidal. we checked with a psychiatrist. He prescribed nexito and restyl for sleeping and depression. I m scared whether if again she thought about suicide and use those pills? Will it leads to death? ## There is no way that anyone can predict whether or not a suicide attempt will be successful, it all depends on how the person tries to do it and how determined they are. When it comes to using medications, the doctor has to carefully weigh the risks and benefits. In this case, it means the doctor has decided that she is at much greater risk, if she is not medicated. Yes, there is a chance that such medications could make her more suicidal, but it is a very slim possibility and, since she was already suicidal, there is a much great risk...

Because im not comfortable is it ok to stop taking trust pill i take it 2nd time but i want to stop it...im going home Philippines for vaccation by 21 of dec. Just protection therefore i decided to take it on my first period yesterday and the following day at the same time .Is there any side effect if i stop it .... ## It isn't dangerous to stop it, after only a couple doses, but it may throw your period off, so it could last longer, be heavier than usual, or become irregular for awhile, according to the NIH. And, of course, you will not be protected from pregnancy. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I'm from the UK. My 78yr old mum has been prescribed 120mg furosemide daily for heart failure, but the side effects are dreadful and two days ago she decided to stop taking them. She has been on them for 9 months and I don't think it is wise for her to stop them suddenly. Is she putting herself at risk by doing this? Thank you ## Hello, Cate! How is your mum doing? Yes, she could certainly be putting herself at risk. Congestive heart failure is caused by high blood pressure, which causes the body to retain too much fluid. The intent of this medication is to help remove that excess fluid, to reduce the strain on her heart, so it can function better and more easily, thus, if she stops taking it suddenly, she could experience elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate and, go...

After I had my tubes tied I had problems with my periods. My doctor put me on lo loestrin and I took it with no problems for years. Almost 3 months ago at 48 years old, I decided to stop taking them. Since then, I have had very tender breasts, mild hot flashes and some cramping but no period. I realize these could be typical side effects from stopping those hormones but with no period for 3 months at 48, could this be perimenopause? ## Hello, Deb! How are you? Yes, it could be either, or, perhaps even both. Perimenopause can start as early as 35, according to the NIH. I started dealing with issues from it at 42, so the past few years have been rather adventurous. The hot flashes cause me to lean towards it being peri, but only your doctor could say for sure. If that is the case, other s...

My 7 month old puppy seems to have a UTI. I have macro is for my own recurring UTIs. Is it safe to use for my dog? ## Hello, Troy! How are you and the pup? Yes, it is safe to use in dogs and is prescribed to them for UTIs, as well. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's safe for your pup. If they have any type of problem with kidney function, or a kidney disease, they can't take it. Thus, it would be best to consult with your vet, first, to be safe. The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for your reply. After searching several other sites, along with this one, I decided to giv...

I started my new pack and only took three pills. Because I missed so many I just decided to stop it all together. Trying to get pregnant. Now I've been off for about two weeks. I'm ovulating this week. Now I am having cramps and very light spotting. Am I going to start my period early because I stopped taking it on day three? ## Hello, Heather! How are you doing? Has anything changed? Yes, that can occur, since this is a hormonal contraceptive, as classified by the FDA. The cramping can also be a withdrawal effect, you may also experience headache and other PMS-like symptoms. In a few weeks, however, things should return to normal, if not, then please consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Looks like I started my menstralcycle early. I'm getting my perscription in the morning. i am already an agrivated, agressive person. i'm afraid of this getting worse. any advice? ## Have you started taking it, yet? It may not worsen those traits in your, it may actually help them improve, since it is an antidepressant. Those paradoxical effects don't happen to everyone that takes it. Learn more Bupropion details here. Are you experiencing any side effects? ## I can only speak from my own experience and tell you that it did not happen to me. I am extraordinarily aggressive and sharp with people. It may have leveled me out, paradoxically. ## Hi Julie, I am in the same boat. I picked up my script yesterday and after googling it to death decided I was going to start it. MMD and Anxiety for 21 yrs, plus over weight and a s...

Hi, my dr prescribed this for me for anxiety. At first I was hesitant because I read about the bad side effects you can get (brain zap, uncontrollable movements, etc) but I have finally decided to try it. He said start off 5mg 2x a day. My anxiety mostly presents itself with racing heart, palpitations, tightness in chest. Does buspar help calm these things down? I am also on Xanax, which helps a great deal, but I am hoping this i can take in the day time to help ease my symptoms. I just am scared of the side effects. Any experience would help. Thanks! ## Yes, it can help with those symptoms, but the only way to see if it will work for you is by trying it. For some people, it is better than Xanax, or other benzodiazepines, because you take it all the time to help keep symptoms under cont...

Can i start micropil when i stop taking althea? I'm supposed to start new pack of althea on wednesday. ## Hi, Miedez! How are you? Yes, you can do that and just do a clean switch from one to the other, it will still retain your protection against pregnancy. But you should double check with your doctor, before switching to make sure that it is safe for you to do so. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm using Althea pills and I was thinking of switching to micro pil. Should I start my new packet now? Can I switch to micro pil now? My doctor had me on Angelique for nine months now. I have decided to stop taking angelique cold turkey, now I have started bleeding. How long is this bleeding going to last and is it normal to have a bleeding like a period. I haven't had a period in 7 yrs now. ## Yes, that can be a normal withdrawal effect, when you stop such a medication, according to the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, headache and PMS-like symptoms. However, you should have things checked out by your doctor to be safe, especially if the bleeding gets heavy, or continues after a few weeks. Is there anything I can help with?

Let's say you receive and fill a prescription in NY and it is entered into the Prescription Monitoring Program. Then later in the month you see a doctor in NJ who gives you a similar prescription and you fill it in NJ. Do the doctor & pharmacist in NJ have access to the Prescribing Monitoring Program in NY? ## Yes, they do, so does the pharmacy, the DEA and the FDA, it is a federal prescription monitoring program. If the prescriptions aren't identical, however, that would most likely not raise a flag, unless the patient in question had lied to the doctors to try to get more pain medications, or other controlled substances. If you were visiting a different location and had a problem, which required seeing a doctor, fully disclosed what you were taking and they decided to chan...

I'm a "do-it-myself-er". Trying to kick an opioid addiction. I got some methadones and took (a total of) two 10mgs over a two day period. Decided to go the suboxone route, so I got three 8mg strips (quartered them) and took 1/4.. My last dose of methadone was 27 hours ago.. How soon will I know if I'm going to experience P.W.s? How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. If you went to an addiction treatment doctor, so that is in your medical records, then yes, it will complicate things. Most doctors are going to be reluctant to prescribe potent medications, if they do, they are going to be very closely watched by the government and will be held responsible, if you'd develop an addiction to anything. It doesn't matter if that's not why you were taking it, if that's wha...
