Been taking 720mg of oxy ER for 15yrs.9 80s a day Have now tapered to 120 mg over the last 8 months. Wondering where to go after 3 5mg a day. Do i go to norco? Thanks ## Hello, Dc! How are you doing? What has your doctor advised? Generally, rather than go to a different medication, they'd have you start skipping doses to eventually completely wean yourself off. For example, you'd take 3 a day one day, then 2 the next, then back to 3 and gradually start widening the gap every week or so. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Thx for idea, talked to doctor who doesn't know much about.says iam his first patient in 20...

My pain doctor was out of the country for 2 months. I was seeing her P.A. who was amazing. I hadn't planned to stay with this new pain doctor anyway she was horrible. Anyway, I called for over a week to ask the nurse what I should do because I couldn't keep the fentanyl patches secured and used more of them, I was on my last one. I called everyday and left a message. She calls me back saying I couldn't get any refills until my appt. In 4 more days. I pleaded with her that I'd read the leaflet and feared the extent of the withdrawl. No answer. So I took some old (expired) meds that I had so I could fight the withdrawl. I brought them with me and told the P.A. While I was there what I did. She sympathized and seemed to know there were issues like this. I found out that day...

will there be hard withdrawals for someone who injects 1 8mg dilaudad daily for 4 months? ## It really depends on the person, there are likely some people that won't, but most people probably will experience some withdrawal effects. Learn more Dilaudid details here. The severity will also depend on the person and the way their body reacts to such. Medications and withdrawal effects are highly individualized. Are there any other questions or comments? ## So honestly you might get sick but I inject my dilaudid all the time and usually blow through a g script of 90 on a week... But dilaudid withdrawal is really not that bad it only lasts like 72 hours and the symptoms peak 36 hours after your last dose. While they are intense symptoms it's really easy to get through with some Advil...

I've tapered down from 20 mg oxycodone ( for 3 months for back pain) to 5mg for the last eight days. I want to get this process over with, of course. I could drop to 2.5 for week or just stop oxycodone now and prepare for the symptoms. My dr has given me adavan and clonidine. Advice please. ## So, you sent from 4 x 5mg per day to 1 x 5mg per day? Is your pain under control? 3 months isn't that long of time. If I were you, I'd change to 2.5 mg 2x per day then cut it to 2.5 once a day then that is it. ## When you think u tapperd down enough dont do none for 2 whole days then after 48 hours take a little bit, but dont get all loaded. Just take the edge off a little so you will sleep and wake up almost normal. I'm about to do it, hopefully i can quit. It's a mother f***e...

Thank you to all who post here. We can't get truthful or helpful support from most Drs. I am in Costa Rica and it is very difficult as I don't have a Psych. Dr. and the GP speaks little English. I have been on AD's since back in the day when there were only Tricyclics. Done them all. For the last 3 years have been on 150mg Wellbutrin and 10mg. Lexapro. GP started me on 20mg and I did that for a year and decided I wanted to try lesser dose and save a little $. I have since decided it no longer helps me and think the Wellbutrin can do the trick solo. On Sept. 8, I began 5 mgs. did that for 2 weeks, suffered the nausea, sleepiness, dizziness, weepiness short tempered, also started the Omega Oil Caps, B complex, ginger root tea, multivit. and dramamine. Then did every other day d...

I have been taking generic loratabs for RA for a long time. I'm worried about symptoms I'm having, like not sleeping good, etc. ## Is this medicine better for sleep or as an atidispresent? ## Neither! Lortab is a narcotic pain reliever. And yes to the first poster, if you have been taking them for a long time and stop suddenly you will suffer some withdrawal symptoms. You should never stop these narcotic medications abruptly and you should be under medical supervision while doing so. ## Yes he's excactly right lortab is a narcotic pain reliever uses for moderate to severe pain!! I have heard that doctors have prescribed darvocet or lortab for depression but that was years ago! lortab is also used for people who have the flu or something and are coughing alot, well lortab mak...

Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. If you are on Vicodin, Norco, etc., don't switch to Methadone. You have no idea what you're playing with. Trust someone who's been there (clean date: 2/1/2005) ## Hello, Caowens! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've been through, but also congratulate you on sticking it out and becoming clean. I'm 13 days in withdrawal from Suboxone. I was on 8 mg for almost 2 years after abusing Vic/Perc for a little over year. They all hate me so I basically hide in the basement thru this hell. Being alone is the hardest part for me. Will it ever end? I'm starting to think I don't want to live anymore ;(. Please help ## Hi Jojo, Sorry to hear about the suboxone withdrawals. You're certainly not alone though, as I've seen a number of other patients posting on here who are undergoing the same "hell" as you called it. And I don't think that's an understatement either. My husband has been on exelon patch for about three years but his alzheimers is progressing faster at this point I think moving into the severe stage. This medication costs us over $400 per month and that's with our insurance paying for part of it. Our income is going down and we cannot afford for him to take this any longer. Can you safely quit cold turkey, should you cut the patches in half for a month or two. Surely someone has had this problem. What kinds of reactions can we expect to see if he no longer uses the exelon patch? ## Kathleen there are numerous pharmaceutical companies who will give you your medications for free due to financial hardships. I'm in withdrawal. how long does it take? ## There is no certain answer to this, it depends on how long you have been taking it and how much you have been taking. It can vary from several days to as much as 2 weeks. ## i would like to know how long withdrawl takes from roxicodone ## just deal with it. I have had to withdrawl from just about everything and they are not hard to deal with. My reg doc has had me on hydros since 09. He recently sent me to a pain specialist who put needles in my spine. The PS gave a Rx of ibuprofen equivalent to 4 reg ibuprofen... I am in more pain now than before. Should I go back to my reg doc to be weaned off of these? I am suffering a migraine, fever, shaking, and my heart feels like it beating out of my chest. I have been taken 2 a day, just as prescribed, I can't tolerate pain like most, I'm very sensitive to pain like I am having! ## Hello, Christin! How are you feeling? I was robbed and ALL my scripts were stolen. I went a whole month without my Percs 15s and OC 40s. I finally went to a methadone clinic. Been on for 3 weeks at 60 mgs now and got my script back yesterday for my Percs and OCS so I didn't dose today and OMG the withdrawals are starting and they are bad. Taking Percs and OCS are doing S***. WHY AM I STILL IN WITHDRAWAL? PLEASE HELP!! ## Because there is something in methadone that prevents other narcotics from making you feel high. That's why they used to only give it drug users because if they did go out and use they wouldn't feel high. You should never have gone on methadone in between. It does help my back pain, but I'm not looking to feel high I just want it for pain management. Don't expect to feel euphoria for a v...

Has anyone ever heard of this medication being prescribed for withdrawal symptoms from Methadone and if so what do I need to look for as far as side effects. It has been prescribed to my 42 year old husband who is now completely off of Methadone used for chronic pain. ## Well the correct drug name is Imipramine, it is classified as an antidepressant. These are used a lot of times, to help treat withdrawal effects from narcotic drugs, because the narcotics act not only for your pain, but they also have an effect on brain chemicals and stopping them can upset the delicate balance. Here's the monograph link with side effect information: ## I have a friend that is taking Peg Entron w/Remidal. He is having terrible physical and mental side effects side affects. Hi, I suffer from chronic pain (lumbar spine) and see a pain management doctor. I've been on medication this time for about 10 months, before that I had about 8 months off of everything following 1 year of taking them. I'm looking for some answers about my current dose of Oxycodone, I'm wondering if my dose is considered normal or on the high side and also what side effects other people have experienced on OxyContin & Percocet. I am thinking that I may want to get off of it and wondering if it's best to taper down or just stop. And if taper down how would i do that. Really I have a lot of questions and would love someone who knows about this stuff to respond. I have googled a million times but never find a thread that is active. I have also tried to talk to my doctor...

Good Morning Everyone, I have been on Vyvanse 50 mg for about 7 months. Took it everyday. My company that I work for changed their insurance policy where I now have a 3,000 deductible before copays hit. Vyvanse became 294.00 a month. Couldn't afford it. My doctor (former doctor who never listened to me) tried to put me on Dexedrine twice a day as a suitable replacement. I am currently on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for my depression and anxiety (and I hear that it helps with ADD) but I am on day 1 of my cold turkey stoppage and I feel like a truck hit me. I thought Vyvanse helped but it really hurt me too. I became irritable, wasn't sleeping, and experienced Amphetamine Induced Erectile Dysfunction. I have been having problems for a few weeks. Twice I was with my girlfriend and couldn...

Hi! I'm new to this forum, but not really new to mental health. I've struggled with OCD, depression, and anxiety my whole life and have taken many different meds for them in my 29 years. But this post isn't about me. It's about my boyfriend. We moved in together in March of this year. I knew he frequently had mood swings, but I wasn't sure why. But about a month after we moved in, he told me he has taken adderall for about 10 years for severe ADHD. He hadn't told me before because he was ashamed of it. Of course I was understanding, and assured him that it was nothing to be ashamed of, and that if I could help him in any way, to let me know. But it goes deeper. See, he gets prescribed 40mg a day. But he takes about 60 and breaks them in half, so he's taking i...

I've been taking Oxycodone 30 mg for neuropathy several years. Recently I was hospitalized five weeks and put on OxyContin 40 mg plus Oxycodone 15 mg for breakthrough which worked like a charm. My problem being is that my 77 year old PCP won't prescribe a time-release and considers them dangerous. My question is this; how do I wean off this med using my leftover 30 and 15 mg Oxycodone until I can locate a new doctor who will prescribe the OxyContin? Being weaned off of fentanyl. Just need to talk to others about it. I've dropped down from 100 to 75 it's been a month. Sometimes I have no appetite for days at a time.
