I am wanting to take St. John's Wort for depression but I'm also on Tapazole for a thyroid problem will it interfere with Tapazole? ## I used the Medscape Interaction Checker, and didn't find any issues listed, but it is always best to double check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be sure. Tapazole may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, loss of taste, hair loss, and itching, according to FDA reports. Ref: Tapazole Medline Plus Are you on any other medications? Have you informed your doctor of your depression?

I recently started menopause, so I bought Estroven for my mood. This is all new to me. Is this something you take every day and for how long? Can Saint John's Wort be used with it? ## It is a supplement product that is claimed, but not proven to help with perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, including mood changes. It should be taken according to the directions on the package, which the last time I bought it was once daily. The FDA does warn that it may cause nausea and irritability in some people that take it. As to taking it with St. John's Wort, I would suggest not doing so, without first checking with your doctor as it might be contraindicated with some of the ingredients in Estroven. Are you on any medications?

Is Prestiq a sulfur based drug? I have been on Prestiq for a week and noticed a difference in stabilization of mood but have had sensitive skin and a mild rash. I am taking other prescribed drugs and know that I'm allergic to sulfur based drugs. Thank you ## I have just discovered I am allergic to corn and all of their by products. Is there any medication for depression that doesn't have corn starch in it. ## The only natural anti-depressant that has no corn starch is St John's Wort (Hypericum). You need to check with your doctor if it conflicts with your medication (if you are taking any) or any other health condition before you try it. Not to be used with MAOI-type anti-depressants especially, but also not with any other anti-depressants. ## As to a prescription medication...

I have been taking Estroven for about six years now. All of a sudden I have cataracts in both eyes. Due to St. John's Wort photosensitive properities they may possibily promote cataracts. Anyone else experiencing cataracts after taking Estroven? ## Which formulation have you been taking? There are several available. As to cataracts, I didn't find any reports of it possibly causing them. However, since they are over the counter supplements, they have not been tested, and evaluated by the FDA for any risks, or benefits, as is down with prescription medications. Typically, the only reported side effects are nausea, and dry mouth. You can learn more here about Menopause and possible treatment, and support options.

I seriously would like to stop taking these prescription drugs. My E,N.T. did an ultra sound and found spasms from my vocal cords down to my esophagus.I have been using prescription drugs, that have made me very sick, . Tried every kind RX & specialest to acurpucture. Their diagnosis is P.T.S.D. from Katrina. Nothing has worked so far.. So perhaps it should be holistic? ## Any one , know about natural herbs, to replace antidepresant, Wellbutrin? ## stillsearching, I did respond to your other question in another post on here. The only herbal remedies that I am familiar with that may help are St. John's Wort and Valerian Root. St. John's Wort has been known for its antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects for many years, however, it cannot be taken with a prescription antidepre...

Posted below are the precautions you should be aware of... The following information applies to: Elavil (amitriptyline) + Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) "MONITOR CLOSELY: Concomitant use of agents with serotonergic activity such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, 5-HT1 receptor agonists, ergot alkaloids, lithium, St. John's wort, phenylpiperidine opioids, dextromethorphan, and tryptophan may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condition thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5-HT1A and 2A rece...

A user was using for months, tried quitting cold turkey with violent, terrible, horrible withdrawal symptoms that finally tapered off, but left with depression. So user went back to using, tried quitting again but this time administered small doses to ward off the withdrawal symptoms, which worked wonderfully. User was very happy about this, though endorphin deficiency sydrome haunted still. A full dependancy on Almighty Creator Father, St. Johns Wort extract along with exercise remedied this and user is a balanced happy person and free of drugs now. ## Hello, Thank you for sharing this! I'm glad the "user" was able to successfully wean off the opiates and find a way to incorporate exercise and herbal supplements for health and happiness. :) I just thought I'd ask, was h...

Took one 25mg tablet of sertraline lfeel horrible. IM lightheaded, dizzy, naseous, and can't eat or even smoke a cigarette! Is this normal after just one dose? If I stand to long I feel faint and all I can do is lay in bed. Should I continue this medication if it's making me feel this horrible after just one dose? ## Sorry to hear that Sertraline isn't working out for you. This drug can cause a wide variety of side effects, many of which you can view by clicking here. nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, excessive tiredness, & headache are all regarded as common side effects. That said, I would personally suggest trying some sort of natural antidepressant or at least something that has a safer track record. Thanks for your time n your help. My email- {edited for privacy}. ## Hello, Adam! How are you? It would be best to check with your doctor, before taking it. St. John's Wort may reduce the efficacy of the Buprenorphine in the Suboxone. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. About 5 years ago, I started taking a Centrum multivitamin which really worked for me. (Anxiety/Depression) I believe that it contained St. John's Wort. They discontinued the line and I have been trying to find out what was in it so I can try and find another vitamin which has the same benefits. any ideas? ## Is there any complication or side effect If I take pharex b1b6b12 with zinc and vit. C. I am a diabetic type 2 patient with hypertension ? ## Greenguy61, do you remember any specific details, such as the specific name of the formulation, or any markings on it? St. John's Wort is a supplement, it not considered a vitamin, or mineral, and would not usually be included in a nutrition supplement. Though, I can say that the FDA does warn that some multivitamins may cause nausea,...

Suppose to be Xanax, but have taken 4 & can't tell. Normally two .5 mg. Put me to sleep! Jus hard to believe they are really Xanax ## I can confirm the blue oval pill in description to be Alprazolam (1 mg); also known as Xanax. It is manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals Inc. Just wondering, but is the medication not doing it's job? Maybe you should talk to your doctor about other alternatives. I've heard good things about Lexapro; but from personal experience, a good natural alternative I would recommend is St. John's Wort in combination with 5 HTP. If your interested I can pull up some more information on any of the above. ## I've been prescribed the 1mg blue Xanax for years and have just received the bright blue ones from the same pharmacy and I can't ...

I need a doctor who will refill my prescription. My new doctor won't and my other dr retired. Help please. ## Hi Danny D, Personally, I think if you suffer from anxiety/depression and need a Benzodiazepine class medication (like Xanax), your best bet is usually to see a psychiatrist, rather than a regular medical doctor. They are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and can also help you treat the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression, as opposed to covering up the feelings and emotions with medication. You know what works best for you though! If I can recommend anything, it would be a combination of St. John's Wort and 5 HTP, and aromatherapy with essential oils- just because I find those options to be more natural than prescription opt...

Clear capsule pill with brown that looks like piwder on the inside ## With no imprint, it might be difficult to determine what the capsule contains. It is most likely an over the counter product, since they are not required to have imprints and the description makes me suspect that it is some type of herbal supplement. The problem there is that there are quite a few possibilities, such as Valerian Root, St. John's Wort and etc. Where did you find it? ## Hi, I found a clear capsule that looks brown and green i believe. With no imprint or markings on it.what could it be?
