If a patient of age 23 takes Restyl 0.5 mg how much time does it takes to start its effect and how many hours will they sleep? ## Restyl 0.5 (and other strengths) are prescribed for insomnia (lack of ability to sleep). As to how long the effects last, generally a person of the age you indicate probably could potentially sleep anywhere from 4-8 hours, depending on their susceptibility to the drug and also whether they have ingested any alcohol or other "downer" drugs. It would be best to ask your doctor about the proper use of Restyl. ## Restyl actually contains the active ingredient Alprazolam, which is a Benzodiazepine, it is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It is normally only given to treat insomnia if it is very severe and has been resistant to othe...

Does anyone other than myself have trouble with sleeping too long when taking Buprenorphine? ## Hello, Allan! How are you? Do you mean it makes you more tired/fatigued so you sleep more than usual? If so, that isn't uncommon. Buprenorphine is classified as an opiate, by the FDA, and that is a common side effect of such drugs, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. What dose do you take? It may be slightly too high for you. ## I usually just sleep a full 8 hours.

I read that not many people use doxepin...I have roaming body pain after a few hours of sleep...Because of an ele., burn of 13,800 volts back in 1991...I have tried to slowly get off the pill...but with in 2 or 3 weeks my night time pain is with me all night...Dose any of you use this pill for the same reason...pain...I have used as high as 150 mg ... but have been on 75mg for 10 years now... ## Doxepin is typically a sleep aid, I have been on as high a dose as 300 mg a day. Pain is better controlled by gabapentin or some of the newer drugs like lyrica or cymbalta. I know about pain as I have fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, a screwed up knee and nueroma in my feet. You seriously need to speak with your doctor or a pharmacist. Pain can be overcome with the right meds.

I was prescribed amitriptyline for my back pain. I took one 4mg on Tues night at 9pm. I slept most of the 22nd. Maybe awake 3 hours out of that day, but was very confused! I woke up at noon on the 23rd. Is this drug too strong for me or is this normal? Could it be the combination of the two medications amitriptyline and tizanidine? I feel gittery, heart racing, confused and very tired! Please send any information that might help me understand this reaction to these drugs. ## I hope you are aware that this is NOT a pain reliever. This is an antidepressant that has helped some people with certain types of nerve pain, but it does not work like a regular pain reliever or a narcotic. As to sleeping, it is very hard to say, these do cause drowsiness, but not usually that bad. It sounds like y...

I am a 33 year old female that was suffering from a pretty bad insomnia for about year and half, taking Lunesta daily. First, it worked like a charm-for maybe 6 months, but then it slowly lost its effect and I struggled again. I took more Lunesta but not much change...I was desperate! I could not sleep with or without it, often running on 3-5 hour of crappy disturbed light sleep. When I got less then 2-3 hours, I had to call in sick to work and I was a living Zombie... Boy was I in hell! I tried it all, literally, googling every day to find a miracle cure. There is none and the more you read the more you feed your insomnia actually. I could have become an insomnia doctor, i knew so much. Well, my point is that I realized what's the point of taking drugs if they don't help anymor...

I have ben doing pretty well. A few months ago I decided to get off the drugs. I have been on 25mcg patch for a couple of months, and the other day deciced it was time to quit.My Dr. knows what my plan is. Anyway it's been a pretty miserable couple of days. The second night I put on a patch for a few hours to sleep. So sincde yesterday I have been a real TWEEKER-restless body, flipping all over the place, can't eat, can't sleep, achy. Right or wrong I am rationing the Norco I have left atlernating with tylenol, and taking klonipin. It sucks. I am so glad that I am not alone, while at least I can read what o...

Hi to all. I took Olanzapine 10mg for 6 Yrs & suffered a very strange & worrying side effect due to the Drug. After 3 Months of taking it, I literally stopped sleeping any more than 2 hours a night, characterized by no sleepiness prior to sleep onset (just blacked out) & no feelings of fatigue either physically or mentally despite days without sleep. I also had no drug effect from multiple Drugs, such as Alcohol, even after drinking 2 Litres of strong Wine, rather just no respiratory depression (very worrying), virtually no intoxication & no bodily effects such as warming effect, gate change (Cerebellar). I became so worried & distressed by this that I set out to withdraw from all Drugs & Alcohol in the hope that the fore mentioned extremely strange & bafflin...

Took for first time three hours ago as prescribed for bad mania caused by required large cortisone injections for acute arthritis pain. As prescribed (two 0.5 xanax plus two 5x325 percosets did nothing to reduce the manic anxiety and pain. Heart still racing and terrible anxiety continued. Took one extra 0.25 atenolol (have chronic mild atrial fibrillation, keep it on hand). Also took two more xanax and one extra percoset. Felt disoriented and sorta walking into walls for two hours. Now heart is fine, pain reduced, but I can't concentrate on Birdman and scared to go to sleep. It's 4 am...mouth dry. New to these drugs, and history of addiction to 30 years alcohol/fentanyl, but sober/clean for three years after seizure/coma due to cold turkey stopping drinking. Never do this again...

My 4 yr old healthy dog was given a nasal vaccine for bordetella. Four weeks later she developed a large nasal fibrisarcoma and now we have to put her to sleep. Has anyone else experienced this tradegy? ## Hello, Eileen! I'm so sorry, that is so sad. I have to admit, however, that I really know nothing about this, this site and my own information all deal with the use of medications in humans. There have been occasional posts about animal drugs, but I haven't seen anything else on this. What did your veterinarian say about it? Does anyone else know more about this? ## Hi, So sorry to read about your doggie! I take these drugs and I am always sleepy. I also have MS, but I am tired about 3 hours after getting up. Why? Is this a possible side effect? ## It could be due to the medications, since they are all listed as causing drowsiness, dizziness, and sedation as side effects, according to FDA reports. However, according to the NIH symptoms list, it could also be due to your MS. Additionally, it might be a combination of all of the medications, as well as the MS. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

I have been taking 3 to 4 8mg (24-32mgs) Dilaudid pills at 1 time usually around 3:00pm everyday for about 2 1/2 years now for back and nerve damage and would like to know the best way, medication, and dosage to get off this drug, also how long and how bad I will feel detoxing. The only time I have energy and feel good is the 2 or 3 hours after taking the drugs. Every muscle and bone in my body aches like I have a severe case of arthritis , i'm sleepy-but can't sleep an entire night, get a runny nose, yawn constantly and tired. I just want to feel normal again. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. 50 ## Wow, I am very sorry to hear about your problem. Hi I've been taking Lamictal 125 bd for about 6 months and recently had added in Lexam 20mg, upped from 10mg which I was on for a month or so. Both are for Bipolar II. I am sole parent of an active nearly 3 year old, with no family support and not living in my country of origin. Over the last month I have noticed weight gain - from no weight gain on 10 mg Lexam and have been experiencing almost debilitating exhaustion - flatness, extreme fatigue, lethargy. I pick up around 4 pm! It's affecting my parenting, and my ability to enjoy life (I want to exercise more, and acheive more in the day, but am tired). I average about 7 hours sleep a night, but am coming out of a bad patch of betwen 5 and 7 due to my daughter waking early (LOL). With these drugs, could the exhaustion/weight ga...

I have two different drugs given for two different dental surgeries. The first one, the 7.5-300 says to take every 6-8 hours so I thought it was the stronger of the two. The other one says to take every 4-6 hours. Which of these drugs is really stronger? I want to take the stronger one at night so I can sleep and the weaker one during the day so I can be more alert. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? I'm happy to help you with this. The one with the Hydrocodone in it is stronger, Codeine is actually weak comparatively. It's 30mgs in the one is only equivalent to 4.5mgs of the Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I want to know what would happen if Seroquel is prescribed to a man of 180lbs and this dosage is given to a woman of 110 pounds. ## The most that will happen is you will sleep for about 12 hours. I have taken 3 50mg at one time and I am still here no problems ## Drugs effect everyone differently, so even though you weigh more, what is an appropriate dose for one person is NOT necessarily safe for another person. When you doctor prescribes a certain dosage, they have to consider many factors, including medication tolerance. ## I take 500 mg of Seroquel for Bipolar, and al0so take 3 two milligrams of Xanax daily. I have been taking Temazapam 15 mg for a week now, and now I wake up more (every hour) than I did before starting it. Any ideas? I feel pretty discouraged. ## That is very unusual, it usually causes such severe drowsiness and somnolence that people are advise to make sure they have at least 8 hours set aside to sleep, after taking it. Some medications, however, can cause the opposite effect in some people, so this means it may not be the right medication for you. A close friend of mine has been taking Seroquel for about a year now and I think her current dosage is around 400-600mg/day. This drug was prescribed to her to treat anxiety and for sleep issues. I have spent time with her after she has taken this medication and its horrible. She acts like she is drunk. She has almost no short-term memory and forgets things she talked about just moments before. She slurs her words and becomes rather uncoordinated. And she has no recollection of what she said or did the following day. She has developed such a dependency that she is now taking the Seroquel late in the afternoon, is in bed by 7pm and will sleep for 10+ hours. She has tried drugs like Cymbalta and Lyrica with no effect. From what I have researched, prescribing Seroquel for anxiety is rather...
