My father who is 79 was started on 300 mg of gabapentin, three times a day. After the 4th dose, he was having hallucinations, tremors, and became tachycardic and arrhythmic. Although the MD prescribing would not say stop the medication, his cardiologist advised immediately stopping. He continues to be lethargic, confused and although better, still has some tremors about 36 hours after taking his last dose. His heart rate is down to around 84 now. How much longer until these side effects resolve? ## Hi Snigs, I'm very sorry to hear about your father's situation. Based on your description, it sounds to me like his cardiologist may know best. A lot of these side effects can be serious/life threatening and may require immediate medical attention if they persist. For the doctor to di...

My sister (29 Years) met with Road Traffic Accident on 05.02.2012 leading to DAI, SDH of 3mm which resolved on 06.04.2012. She was GCS-E4M6V4 at time of discharge (01.06.2012). Though tracheostomy was (done on 18.02.2012) removed on May 22 but still the pitch & tone of her voice is Heavy & slurring. Sometimes there are mood-disorders. Writing & eating is with jerky movements & not with precision, it seems she applies lot of force. She is however able to stand & balance for few minutes, Clap; narrate old stories & able to recall pertinent events. She is undergoing physiotherapy regularly & taking 'LEVIPIL' in medication. She is now recovering slowly. How long do you expect will it it take for her to recover & join services? Her tears doesn't co...

I'm experiencing double vision. Is this a side affect from zopedin (ambien)? ## The active ingredient in Ambien is actually called Zolpidem and yes, it can cause this as a side effect in some people that take it, as well as next day hangover like symptoms and grogginess. You can learn more Ambien details here. I actually had awful dizziness off an on for several months and no other solution was found....until I stopped taking Ambien, then it resolved in a few days. Are there any other questions or comments?

could someone please tell me if a person has been using 8mg dilaudad just once a day, basically for the high, on a regular basis for over 4 months will they experience a hard withdrawal by quitting cold turkey and if so for how long? ## From what I could gather, the severity of Dilaudid withdrawal symptoms depends on the dosage and length of time the individual has been using the drug. Dilaudid withdrawal can peak in as little as 9 hours, but typically peaks in 14 to 21 hours after cessation of use. Symptoms typically resolve in 36 to 72 hours. Users taking high doses of Dilaudid over an extended period of time may experience painful withdrawal lasting up to two weeks with symptoms including constant shaking, cold sweats, diarrhea, vomiting, muscle pain, body cramps, and insomnia. The s...

Hello, I have terrible heartburn and taking Ocid 20. But now I am pregnant of 19 weeks and taking it regularly. Is it safe to take during pregnancy. I am worried ## Hi, Sanu! Sorry about the heartburn. Have you looked at your diet to see what's causing it? In many cases there are food or drink triggers and discontinuing your indulgence in them may resolve the issue. As to this medication, it contains the active ingredient Omeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor and while there have been no human studies done, animal testing has shown that there is some risk to the baby, if a mother takes this medication while pregnant. Learn more Omeprazole details here. You need to talk to your doctor about it, I've no doubt that they can help you find something you can use that is safer a...

shortness of breath and hip pain ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Have you been diagnosed with C Difficile? Are you being treated for it? I'm sorry, but your post isn't very clear, so I can't help you without your providing more information. This is an infection that causes an inflammation of the large intestine, usually it occurs due to antibiotic treatment and mild cases can be resolved by discontinuing the culprit antibiotic.

Have been diagnosed with hypothyrodism - always tired can fall asleep anywhere, hair loss, brital nails. Dr tried synthroid, levothyroxin, levoxyl - because I have stomach ulcers after I take these for a few days I have terrible stomach pains. It takes about 3 - 4 weeks of donnatal to get my stomach back to normal. Is there anything else I can try. ## Have you tried taking anything else for the stomach issues? You may need to resolve that, so you can keep taking the necessary thyroid medication. It might be necessary to take something the night before you take your medication, or with an hour or two wait, in between. There are various products on the market to treat such issues, but you should take to your doctor to determine which one is best for you to use.

I've been taking Oxycodone 30mg for quite some time for 2 medical conditions. This month Feb 2016, I went to refill prescription and only half of the script was available. This is in WI. My pharmacy said they have no idea when they will be available. These are the small blue ones. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? From what I'm finding listed by the ASHP, which is a pharmacists information association, there has been a shortage, but it has been resolved. However, it may still take a month or so, before pharmacies receive a new supply. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for...

If I get symptom relief after one 25 mg tablet ;do I still need to step down the dosage or can I stop after 1 tablet ## Hello, Tony! How are you? You should follow your doctors instructions. Just because symptoms went away, that doesn't mean that problem has resolved, yet, so you may end up right back where you started, if you don't finish the medication. There can also be serious complications stopping a steroid suddenly. Are there any other questions or concerns?

My sister took a 65mg Darvon little pink capsule. She was frantic with pain from a toothache. I am stressed.. it was from 2010.. Is it ok..? She seems fine, but I know they are discontinued! ## Did she suffer any adverse effects? She will most likely be okay, but should make sure to inform her doctor that she took it. They were pulled from the market due to the fact that they were found to cause a high risk of cardiac dangers, as well as an inordinate number of overdose deaths. However, the cardiac problems usually only occurred while someone was taking it and they resolved upon discontinuation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipat...

I am searching for a dentist, however in the meantime I addled my doctor to prescribe penicillin for a very painful broken tooth. The dentist had previously prescribed me 500mg worth 1000 as the initial dose. My doctor prescribed 250mg and after 3 days it is not working. My question is, can I double up the 250mg to make 500mg? working. My quotation is can I double up the 250mg to make a 500mg? My doctor doesn't usually prescribe penicillin therefore ## An antibiotic will only help if the pain is due to an infection and, in this case, that may not be what's causing it. It could just be due to the broken tooth being sensitive and that isn't going to resolve, regardless of how much antibiotic you take, until you see a dentist to have the tooth fixed. Is it aching constantly, or ...

Gemcal Ds was prescribed to my wife, about 56 years old, suffering from pain from neck, shoulder and to her knees. She took it for the first time, before taking breakfast, as advised to her. After about two hours she started feeling very uneasy, dizzy and wanting to vomit. The next day when taken, the effect was same, so she has stopped taking this medicine (Vitamin). Any comment/response to resolve this problem will be most welcome and will also be highly appreciated. Best regards. Abdul Rashid (from Aden, Yemen) ## gemcal ds is a veg or nonveg? ## Did she consult her doctor? It may just have been due to the fact that she took it on any empty stomach and she might need to take it with food to prevent the nausea and dizziness. She should discuss that with her doctor. So this s what I heard. The Walgreens brand that everyone was accustomed to was a Watson product and apparently a lot of their distribution was in Puerto Rico. The Hurricanes that hit the area in PR affected the distribution and production of Oxycodone at Walgreens. I went to almost all of there stores in mid December without any luck finally I resorted to CVS which had a Mallinkrodt product. Walgreens had to resolve their shortage as they were losing customers that 10 day period they negotiated with Camberwhich is actually a company from India that just set up shop and company in New York September of 2017. So I don't know if that is the product they are sticking with until Watson products become reliable or if they signed a contract. All I can say is I hope they have higher qualit...

My doctor diagnosed me with diverticulitis after a ct scan. Why do I take amox-clav 875 and metronidazole simultaneously? Thank you! ## Sometimes multiple antibiotics are given, if the doctor isn't sure of the precise bacteria that is the culprit, by taking more than one, it covers more possibilities. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, stomach pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My side effects also included a super metallic taste and a somewhat distorted sense of smell. Both have resolved after finishing course of antibiotic treatment.

I have taken Drixoral for over 20 something years on a seasonal bases. It helped me get through the first part of my allergies until i get a shot of cortizon and i would take Drixoral along with the shot and have no problems. I purchased my last box in April 08 and now to find out no one can get them anymore. Please bring them back and let us make the decision as to what the side affects are and if it is worth dealing with.
