I live in Pennsylvania. I receive a 28 day prescription of subutec at 16mg a day. My Dr miscalculated and is on vacation and won't return until 32 after my last appointment. Which leaves me 4 days without my medication. He told me that it is against the law to call anything in for me and that I have to try and stretch what I have to make it until he can see me. Is that true or is it legal and possible for him to call in the 4 day prescription until I can see him? Especially based on the mistake being on his part and not on mine. Could I go to an Er and receive the subutec if it is against the law to call it in? I dont know what to do and I am frustrated with the situation. ## The doctor is correct, it is now against the law for him to call it in for you. It must be a new prescriptio...

My prescription states 3 once daily for 3 days, do I take all three at one time or 3 thru out the day? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? I understand your confusion. From what you've written, as listed by the NIH prescribing instructions, that would be taking 3 at once, once a day. However, what medication has been prescribed? If you can post back with this information, I'll be better able to help you. Thanks! ## I take trazadone and sertraline once a day. Could I take Contrave? I did one time. I didn't get much results, with appetite help. I do have some left. In one place it has expires 2018, then 2016. Please help me out. I need to lose weight!

I was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri and put on Diamox. I live up north and want to relax in the sun while we still have it, but the bottle says to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Why does it say that? ## Because many medications, such as Diamox, make you more sensitive to the effects of the sun, which means you could burn much sooner than you expect, or develop heat stroke much faster than your normally would. Learn more Diamox details here. Thus, sun exposure should be avoided. However, if you really want to spend time out in it and your doctor approves, then you should make sure to cover as much of your body as possible and use a high SPF sun protectant on any exposed skin. Are there any other questions I can help with?

I was put on Xarelto for 6 months because of a PE. My problem is that I gained 25 lbs, I have been off of it for over 5 months and still can.not.lose the weight and also I bruise so easy, makes me think it's still in my blood??? ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Those can be normal side effects of Xarelto, as listed by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness and headache. However, they usually go away, after the medication is discontinued. Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your doctor? You should definitely have the bruising checked out for your own safety. ## Thank you for replying. No I am not on any other meds. I did have labs checked and it showed my vitamin D was very low, I was put on 50, 000 units for a couple...

I am on Aptiom for Trigeminal Neuralgia. Any info about side effects when Aptiom is increased. Now at 1200 mg. any info would be greatly appreciated. I think this is my last hope before going to narcotics which really doesn't work on this excruciating nerve pain. Already had two unsuccessful surgeries and was told no more. Thank you.Updaa ## Hello, Mary! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. The side effects won't be different, when the dosage is raised, but you may experience them, again and they may be more intense than at lower dosages. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Aptiom as possibly including nausea, dizziness, tremor, double vision, headache and drowsiness. allergic to diclofenac can i take chlorzoxazone ## Hi rich, From what I could gather, Chlorzoxazone is in a class of medications called skeletal muscle relaxants. Diclofenac on the other hand, is listed as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). So if you are allergic to one, there shouldn't be any problems using the other, since they are not the same type of medication. I would however recommend discussing this with your Dr first, just to be on the safe side; as some people may be allergic to more than one type of substance. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Chlorzoxazone Details Is this your first time taking either of those medications?

I can kick myself ... I am on the tail end of my xarelto and I have taken a Advil by mistake should I be freaking out right nowrú. ## Hope you are feeling ok. I took aspirin once and there were no problems. They want you to avoid drugs that can cause stomach bleeding. My guess is you are ok today. ## Yes I am ok I was scared because of the warnings ## It needs to be noted here that it's not just stomach bleeding, but any increased risk of bleeding, which most NSAIDs, such as Advil can cause. If you require any type of medical care, or get a cut within a few days of taking the Advil, make sure to let medical personnel know. And if you see any signs of internal bleeding, such as vomiting blood or bloody stool, you should seek medical attention. Is there anything else I can help w...

I am on day 13 of Chantix and have seen no results. Is this normal or should I consider that it is not working for me and give it up? I can't deal with the nausea if it is not going to work. ## It may take 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of efficacy in the body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as also including dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. Has there been any change? What has your doctor advised? ## Go read the other forums about chantix here. I took it in 2011 and have permanent brain damage from it- no pleasure from smoking but also no pleasure from ANYTHING ELSE. complete anhedonia followed by suicidal thoughts and no Dr. Or medication has helped. Stop taking this asap! I quit taking it cold turkey after 2 months. Perhaps w...

When does it stop working as well as an appetite suppressant and why does your weight loss slow down? ## Hello, Lauren! How are you? Our bodies eventually get used to any medication that we take regularly for a long period of time, which causes them to stop working as well for us. There's no precise time frame that can be given though, because it can vary from person to person. Regardless of the method used to lose weight, there is almost always a plateau that you hit, at some point. Your body also gets used to whatever you're doing to spur it, such as a medication, or exercise and weight loss can slow down, unless you change something to ramp it back up, such as changing your exercise routine, your diet, or the medication that you're taking. The FDA lists Qysmia's typic...

On week 4 of sovaldi & Riba with genotype 3A. Have 20 more weeks, my moods are so labile....irritable, then crying, then anxious then fine.....all over the place. Kinda rough right now.... could be worse I guess but....anyone else? ## Hello, MJ! How are you? I've not taken these medications, but I can tell you that these types of symptoms are listed by the FDA among the possible side effects that someone could experience. Others may include chills, fever, skin pallor, weakness and decreased appetite. Has anyone else been on these? ## Yes! I am experiencing the same issues. 8 believe it is related to my also having insomnia but maybe that is not right? I'm only on the end of week 2 so I'm praying this doesn't continue. I'm temporal lobe epileptic also.

If I take 100mg of Losartan at 6:00 am can I take it again at 4:00pm? I am currently taking 10mg of Amlodipine but it does not work as well as I want it to. I have not been on the Amlodipine but about 3 was. The Losartan works much better. Can I take the loser tan again at 4:00 instead of Amlodipine? ## Hello, Bug! How are you? Can you please post back and clarify as to what you mean by saying it does not work as well as you want it to? It takes about 4 weeks for these medications to reach their full level of efficacy in your body, so you've not been on the Amlodipine long enough to know how well it will work for you and you should not adjust the dosage of any medication, on your own. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased...

I have degenerative disc disease and have taken opana ir and er for a while. My doctor has changed me to morphine since opana has left the market temporarily. I do not like the morphine. Could someone out there recommend something comparable to opana er 40 and ir 20 ## Opana is actually back on the market, though still in limited quantities in some areas, so you may want to have your doctor's office check with your local pharmacies to see who has it in stock, so you can go back to it. It was actually just a temporary shortage, while they were reformulating the tablets to help prevent abuse. Is it safe to take betapace opened up instead of taking the capsule? ## If your doctor or pharmacist have not said it was alright to do so, then I would avoid it, as some medications do not work as intended when they are released into the body all at once. ## I have been taking Betapace the brand name for 20 years because generic Sotalol does not work for me. This year my copay for 100 is $1200 and I don't know what to do? ## Betapace is not a capsule. It is an oblong pill.

Family member was in ER for alcohol detox and was peaceful and easy going. Member began to have shakes and was given Ativan in an IV. Member became very irritated and aggressive. Member had to be restrained and Ativan was increased. Upon increase, member became violent and had to be restrained by 4 young security guards. Member was then taken to ICU and given propofol and a respirator was employed. What is in this stuff that set this member off ## Hello, Marty! How are you? It was probably the alcohol detox and not the Ativan, to be honest, though there is a small chance it was the combination of both. Ativan is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, d...
