What are the differences between Trazodone and Tramadol? Are they the same thing? Do they have similar uses? ## No, they are not the same. Trazodone is an antidepressant that is also used to treat anxiety, and some severe forms of anxiety. (NDC code 0179-1118) The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. [1] Ref: MedlinePlus However, Tramadol is an opioid that is used to relieve pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. (NDC code 0093-0058) [2] Ref: MedlinePlus Hope this helps! ## Trazodone is an older anti-depressant. Considered an SARI. I have read the leaflet that came w/ my meds. Its listed as an antidepressant but was prescribed to me for insomnia. Two questions now. 1. Do I have to take it every night? 2. How worried should I be about the side effects? Frankly, I've put off taking it because I've never been diagnosed w/ depression, just insomnia & migraine. Any concise info you can provide would be great! Just speak to me like a person, not a doctor. Thanks! ## Trazadone. First off Trazadone is a cocaine withdrawal pill. And I guess it is prescribed for insomnia as well. My doctor gave it to me to help me sleep. It most definitely put me to sleep. But the bad, bad, bad thing about this medication is it stops your nose up to point where its impossible to breath. The first time I took it I knew exactly ho...

I currently am using Trazodone HCL 150Mg for insomnia. I usually cut the dosage in half or in thirds and notice my eyes and vision seem to be affected. It is as if my eyes are really tired, blink a lot, and definitely irritated. I take no other meds except 25Mg of Metoprolol ER to slow a rapid heartbeat. I have been taking Metoprolol for many months with no side effects. I previously had been using 50MG of Trazodone and it was quite ineffective. My doctor increased the dosage to help me sleep. I do not notice anyone complaining of eye problems. The Mfr. of Trazodone is TEVA Pharm. ## Hello, Gloria! How are you? The FDA does list blurry vision among the possible side effects of Trazodone, but they don't specify how or why it causes it, so yes, your symptoms could possibly be due to t...

I've been using Zydrus brand for years at bedtime 1 pill. CVS gave me Teva, as per pharmacist this is only brand they carry bc of volume pricing. No more special orders, as corporate will not allow it. My other drugs i.e. alprazolam same story. Has anyone used Teva that has switched from other brands? CVS is no longer customer friendly!!!! They are my in network pharmacy. I'm screwed. ## They no longer carry Teva generic Adderall . They haven’t a few years Each location has only what is stored ## Thanks for your reply. However, it was Teva Trazodone that I was inquiring about. How effective is it compared to other generic brands. I was using Zydus. ## As with any medication, it works well for some people, but not for everyone. The only way to find out how it works for you ...

I started with many different drugs, i was up to 400mg of trazadone at night for sleep. i hate the side effects and have tried for years to get off it. I can't. I am right now down to 225mg at night, but my body shakes and i am very nerves and cry easy if i don't have it. I am also on celexa. I want to get off it completly but do not no how. ## A very slow taper is usually the best solution for stopping a medication, such as Trazodone. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you set up a proper, and safe, tapering schedule. The FDA lists the Trazodone withdrawal effects as possibly including rebound depression, rebound pain, rebound anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, and seizur...

sleep meds ## I have been taking trasadone for at least 10 years or more. My teeth have turned almost brown in color, I have gained a lot of weight and I am still depressed and anxious. My docotr told me they do tend to stop working after long periods of time. What else is out there that can help me so I can stop taking trasodone? My memory is about shot and sometimes I cannot remember from 0 to 30 seconds back and other days I have good recall. What is that from? Should my blood be tested to see what level my serotonin is? ## Trazodone is an antidepressant that also has sedative like properties, so it is sometimes used to treat insomnia. I need to find, for my pharmacy, Trazadone by Qualitest. I take three daily. I have been on other manufacturers since February of last year and having problems. The one they have me on now has me crying easily and I cannot get going to do anything. Once I get going, I act like I am in a hurry all the time. My pharmacy tried the ones I am on now 2 years ago and I had problems then. Can someone help? ## I know from personal interaction the other manufacturers are not the same chemical compositions. The results are obviously different. The absolute worst one is PLIVA. While on that, I even let my electricity get cut off. I worry for other patients, too. I was sent to another pharmacy and given Apotex last night. I found Qualitest myself a couple of years ago and the pharmacy I use ordered ...

I took Nefazodone for years and it worked well for me. After hearing it may be pulled from the market, I've tried many other antidepressents, with no success. I'm now back to an old one Trazodone @ 125 mg and even though it's about 3 weeks into it, I seem to be getting worse instead of better. I liked my Nefazodone (Serzone). I still have some from earlier. Would it hurt to take a small dosage of Nefazodone with the Trazodone? I'm feeling so bad, sad, and anxious that I'm wanting relief, soon. ## Generally, it is best not to mix them, unless your doctor specifically decides it is safe, or necessary for you to do so. They are in the same drug class, so taking them both, or taking too much of one, may result in Serotonin Syndrome, which can be very dangerous, and has t...

White round pill scored in middle, imprint is APO on top half and 750 on bottom. Small pill about 4 or 5 mm in diameter. ## Yellow and red pill with the number s 187 on only one sie ## I believe you are referring to a pill that is scored with APO at the top and T50 (not 750) on the bottom. If this is correct, he pill you are referring to is called Trazodone 50mg. It is most commonly used in conjuction with SSRI's (Selective Seritonin Reuptake Inhibitors) like Prozac to treat depression and anxiety. Please consult a health care professional before taking this or any other prescription medication which was not intended for yourself as there are side effects associated with this medication as well as interaction dangers. ## The identification provided to the pill in the original post i...

Don't know what this pill is, it has PLIVA 434 on it and it is white and round. ## This tablet is manufactured by Pliva and they list it as containing 100mgs of Trazodone, which is an antidepressant that is also used to help with insomnia. (NDC 50111-434) Inactive Ingredients: - Silicon Dioxide - Anhydrous Lactose - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Sodium Starch Glycolate Type a Potato The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, weight changes, and mood changes. ## what is this drug used for is it similar to vicodin?, and is it used to relieve pain? ## No.... it is nothing like Vicodin (hydrocodone). does trazodone show up in urine screenings? ## No i take the same medision it never showed up in my test it is not a narcotic ## Trazodone (such as PLIVA [PLIVA 434; 100mg]) Is not subjected to the controlled substances act. There are no urine tests that screen for it. Trazodone Hydrochloride is most commonly used to treat depression; sedation; fibromyalgia; insomnia; and anxiety. It belongs to the drug class phenylpiperazine; antidepressants. There is no type of urine screen that looks for this, unless it is specifically being tested for. So a 5-panel, 9-panel, 10-panel, 12-panel, etc. will not be looking for this or its metabolites in your urine. But, as always, you should consult your physician about any concerns you have regarding medication. If you are obtaining this drug via stree...

My pharmacy just switched manufacturers of my prescription trazodone 50mg. It used to be made by apotex now it is pliva and I am finding that the new pills are having little to no effect and I am starting to suffer discontinuation syndrome. I talked to my pharmacist and doctor and neither one could tell me what was causing this. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who could shed some light on the subject. ## Yes, I can. Under Federal Law, by way of the Hatch Watchman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from their name brand counterparts by as much as plus or minus 20% in the active ingredient. Many people are not aware of this, including doctors, but the FDA considers this to be a very minor difference that does not affect the therapeutic dosing of medications. So,...

does this new prescription contain other ingredients? My wife started taking new pills and now can't sleep ## Hi, Worried! Sorry that your wife is having trouble. What are the markings on the tablet? That's what would enable me to check this information for you. What is the safest and quickest method to stop taking Trazodone? ## My daughter has been taking trazodone for 2.5 years at 150 mg. Can you just stop taking it or do you have to be weaned off? If you just stop will there be risks? ## Trazodone is an SARI antidepressant, so it works on brain chemicals, which means an abrupt cessation of it could result in some withdrawal symptoms and a rebound effect. The rebound effect is usually the biggest problem, because it may result in symptoms that are worse than what someone was taking it to treat. Learn more Trazodone details here. Thus, a slow gradual taper, under the supervision of a physician, is the best and safest way to stop these types of medications. Are there any other questions or comments? Is there anything I can help with? ## I need ...

I have been taking Trazodone for 5 years. Every year it seems I have to up my dosage. My Dr told me that 600mg is the max dose. I'm up to 500mg now and it still isn't working. I was wondering if there was another medication that's similar that I could take instead? ## Hello Aly, I can provide you with a list of medication that may be suitable substitutes but first I would need to know symptoms they are prescribing the trazadone to treat. Of course any drugs that I list are just similar to trazadone and you would need to discuss with your physician if switching to one of them would be a good choice for you. Trazadone is approved by the FDA as an anti-depressant but is also known for it's sedating purposes. Assuming that your physician has prescribed you this medication to...

My extremely energetic dog takes Trazodone for calming. Recently the pharmacy refilled with a different manufacter pill which was slightly smaller and made by Zydus. The original RX was manufactured by TEVA. The effects were not the same....the dog was still bouncing off the walls after giving same dosage. I question the pharmacist who told me "it's just what they send us" and "it's the same drug". I disagree. Any info or comments? ## Hello Susan, Both of you are correct. The different manufacturers sell a drug that has the same quality and dosage of the same active ingredient as your pharmacist says, however, this does not mean that all of the inactive igredients are the same between the pills. The inactive ingredients in the medicine is just as important and im...

i need to know if taking the medican trazondone and clarithromyc at one time is this harmfull? ## IT isn't recommended that they be taken at the same time, the Clarithromycin can increase the plasma concentrations of the Trazodone and this could result in worsening of the side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness and dizziness. They should be taken several hours apart, to prevent this. Are there any comments or questions? ## Can I take eltroxin and razo 20 both empty stomach in morning

it say take when needed ## WHAT SCHEDULE IS A TRAZODONE HCI 50/431 ## Trazodone is an antidepressant that is also frequently used to treat insomnia, in such cases, it might be prescribed to be taken as needed, if a person can't sleep.
