I need a dr that will prescribe heavy pain meds and Xanax in the Pasadena California area. ## I'm sorry, but there is no directory of physicians according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. Additionally, due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year, you'll need to see specialists to have such medications prescribed, so in your case, that would most likely be one doctor for pain management and a psychiatrist for the Xanax. The FDA classifies Xanax as a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Do you currently have a PCP that may be able to refer you to someone? If so...

i have a back injury i have been on norco for almost a year my doctor says a new ca. law says she has to bring me off norco and replace it with tramadol that soon no will be able to get norco unless you just had surgery is this true ## Yes, from what I've learned that is basically correct. General practitioners won't be able to prescribe such medications, except in emergency cases after recent injury or surgery. Learn more pain management details here. If someone suffers from a condition that causes long-term chronic pain, they have to see a pain management specialist for treatment to continue having such medications prescribed. A lot of it has to do with the abuse of the medications by many people, the fact that many doctors aren't specially trained to treat people that in ...

I do not abuse my pain medication but the dose I am giving has not been enough to manage my pain. I am in level five or more 24 hours a day. I have tried talking to them many many doctors I have about getting me a good pain management doctor and I keep hearing that they are hesitant to prescribe opiates for fibromyalgia. They will prescribe it for anything else but not for fibromyalgia. I’m going to yet again another specialist at UCLA that supposedly specializes in fibromyalgia but I need to have a back up plan. Whatever this is that I have has caused me to have to use a walker and m...

Hi I'm a stage 4 cancer patient and live in Sacramento California. My doctor of 5 years recently retired without telling any of his patients! So now I'm stuck without a doctor and I also need a doctor that is compassionate because most doctors these days seem to not care regardless of how sick you are, to prescribe my normal medications like Xanax and my pain medications being a cancer patient. I'd really appreciate any help and feedback you can give me to find a compassionate doctor here in Sacramento California. Thank you! ## I would like to get information about upjohn 90 tablets, I was prescribed them for severe panic attacks and another issue, but my doctor retired and I went to a new doctor and she told me she can't prescribe them anymore so I now try each day to p...

I have been in Pain management since 2004 in California and just Moved out there to muskogee Oklahoma... unfortunately there are NO doctors here willing to treat my pain i was on a regiment of 80mg Oxycontin 2X daily 10/325mg Norcos every 4 hours and 4mg IV dilaudid as needed for breakthrough pain... i am in search of a doctor out this way who is actualluy willing to perscribe these meds... thanks ## Well, the first question I have is, how are you checking with the doctors about getting help? The reason I am asking is because if you're calling various doctor's offices and asking if they'll treat you and prescribe specific medications, then you will pretty much always get told no. When someone does that, doctor's and their staff are taught to see it as drug seeking behavi...

Hi all. I have intractable pelvic RSD, peripheral neuropathy, lumbar facet spondylosis. I live in California and am about to have to change insurances at the end of this month. The new insurance has ridiculously high Rx prices. I go to a PM for all my pain meds, but my primary dr has in the past managed them for me. My question is if anyone knows if I get an Rx for the 60mg Oxycontin twice a day like usual from my PM and then my primary to write a script for 40mg 3 times a day and then I can go to 2 totally different pharmacies and fill one with my insurance and the other at another pharmacy and pay with cash, will that flag the DEA and cause my PM to get a notification of "Doctor shopping"? I am just trying to have enough meds to get me through an extra month until my husbands ...

I have been using Dextromethorphan 60mg Sr/ER for pain management. I was prescribed this medication, which is made in a compounding pharmacy by a doctor in California who is actively involved with the NIH(National Institute of Health. This pain management doctor uses off label medications, but is light years ahead of the traditional pain management doctor, who goes through their steps of the various epidural, nerve blocks, a multitude of other treatment that all the other pain management physicians practice, all the way up to a spinal cord stimulator or pump. I tried all of those treatments and was told no treatment remains, other than heavy narcotics, which do not work in the slightest for me. I moved from California to Mountain Home, Arkansas (north-central Arkansas) last year & have been unable to find a pain management doctor. I have seen two doctors. The first one accused me of being a "drug addict" on my first visit despite the fact that I brought all of my surgery records, MRI & X-Ray films, discharge instructions (I'd been staying in a nursing home) & my original medication containers. He was rude, abusive, and would actually yell at me during visits. To my great relief, he finally referred me to another pain mgmt. clinic two hours away. Is there a new law in California that limits the quantity of Hydrocodone 10/325 to 120 pills per month? ## Hello, Eric! How are you? New directives were issues by the DEA last year instructing doctors to restrict how much they prescribe, except in cases where someone has intractable pain from a possibly fatal illness. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Generally, people are to be kept to the equivalent of no more than 120mgs of Morphine a day, though some states have further restricted that to just the equivalent of 100mgs. Additionally, your doctor is supposed to subscribe the bare minimum it takes to try to control your pai...
