I took keflex for a week after bunion surgery. I lost 40 percent of my hair. It was an all over thinning. It receded in my temples. While it was falling out, it felt like someone took a blow torch to my head. I was then pressured into to trying mobic. The hair loss hadn't started yet. Takes a couple months. Anyway, as soon as I took it, I was a mess. I now have IBS D and C. It's horrible. I had no idea this could happen. My life is ruined! Perscription doesn't warn you, doctor doesn't either. I won't go into the side effects. There's way to many! I'm getting a lawyer! If you look up the side effects online, it doesn't warn you there either. Unless you specifically type in hair loss, or IBS from keflex or mobic. Can't cure it either. You can treat with...

I've been on 150 mg Nuvigil for about 4 weeks and just starting to go to 250 mg because it didn't seem as effective during the day as when I first started using it. I'm continuing to have problems falling to sleep at night. It's like trying to get to sleep after taking a daytime cold medicine. I take the pill early in the morning (around 7AM) and don't go to bed till 9 PM. I toss and turn till around 1 or 2 AM. Any suggestions on how to sleep better? Would taking benedryl, melatonin, or some type of sleep aid help? ## It is very common to experience insomnia for the first 4 weeks, or so, after starting this medication or raising the dosage. However, after that, things should improve, once your body gets used to it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possib...

This is the first night I did not need to take a pill. I take Ambien to sleep. I woke up shaking and my leg were moving. Ingot up to walk around, drank water, went back to bed, can't sleep. so I took one of my husbands Xanax I took 1/2 of a .5, try to rest and fall asleep, no good, 1/2 hour later I took another 1/2 of Xanax. Inothing I can't sleep. I don't know what else I can do. Need some input, I would greatpo;d greatly appreciate it. Thanks Carol ## Benzos will often strengthen the opiate, but not the other way around. You may want to speak to your doctor about Ambien. The side effects are minimal and I have had great success with several of my clients. Xanax is not a sleep drug. It is more for anxiety and where it may relax you, it does not often bring about REM sleep. If ...

Just started on Nuvigil for daytime drowsiness from OSA, third day. First night I couldn't sleep; second night I took 3mg of melatonin and was able to sleep, but not quite as awake on third morning as prior day - haven't fallen asleep yet, but yawning. Is melatonin OK to use to make sure I get to sleep at night, or might that be counteracting the nuvigil into the next day? Should I expect some variability in the first couple of weeks regarding how awake I feel in the day and when it wears off in the evening? Should I not take melatonin at night if it's keeping me up? ## Hello, SleepyPete1 How are you? It should be okay, as long as your doctor approves of you taking it. I didn't find any dangerous problems or interactions listed between the two, but it's always best t...

He is on 20 mg in the morning, and by 7:00 at night his behavior is more aggressive, high strung, obnoxious, compulsive. After about 2 hours of this behavior, he usually falls asleep. He takes depakote and lamictol for bipolar disorder as well. When is mental health research going to come up with a way to diagnose and treat? Right now it takes a highly experienced doctor with a brain packed with knowledge to even begin to know what med, how much, and how to change the plan when it is not working very well. There are very few that can do this, but even finding a children psychiatrist your insurance will cover is next to impossible. What do I do. Is there a way to decrease the negative effects that occur in the evenings? Should another ADHD med be tried? ## I have 3 kids that are adhd and...

I started taking Propanolol for PVC's 2 weeks ago. 10mg once a day. That made me dizzy so i cut it up into two doses. 5 mg twice a day. That seemed to work well. I did have a few side effects for about 7 days....extremely cold hands, shortness of breath, dizziness but then I felt great for about 3 days. Now it is horrible. I started feeling REALLY tired. Can't hold my eyes open tired. Can't seem to get woke up of the mornings and now for the last 2 nights I have been so short of breath it is waking me up. Like I will fall asleep and right after I doze off, I wake up by gasping for air. I have never had this problem before and it is worrying me. I have had several Ekg's in the last 10 years and all have been normal. Last one I had was 10 months ago. Someone suggested Ader...

Hi, is zincovit tab really helps to stop hair fall and is it use to increase the immunity ?. I am taking in a day at night time but not consulted with any doctor. ## It is just a nutritional supplement that contains a complex of vitamins and minerals that your body needs for overall health. There is no guarantee that it will help with hair loss, or improve immunity, unless those conditions are specifically related to the lack of a vital nutrient that it contains. The U.S FDA warns that some of these supplements may cause nausea, due to their potency. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am looking for a subutex physician in fall river, mass. area. I am allergic to suboxone. I have insurance. If i have to pay a fee i will not go. I desperately need help, please. ## Hello. As an ex junky I really need some subutex to help me to feel better and not so anxious, life has been very hard. My doctor does not listen to me. In fact he is very worried about is reputation as a GP. He told me, sorry Miss I'm protecting myself!! I left his surgery in tears and felt let down by him the only option he offers me was antidepressant. I dont want antidepressants, I want a strong pill to make me sleep when i feel suicidal. ## Seroquel at night will help emensly! 50 mg @ bedtime. Your physician shouldn't have an issue with giving you this as it is a mood stabilizer abd it actually...

Hello great tool and great forum! My name is Toby, I am 36 year old male whom was prescribed Xarelto due to Thrombosys Superficialius. It is painful as it is in my left thigh and is the size of my thigh. Outside of a year and half ago I was extremely health male whom life revolved around the gym where my 6'3" frame consistently weighed in at 250 with less than 10% body fat but after a complete Distal Bicep tendon rupture I have struggled to get an ounce of normalcy back in my health and life. I am writing due to conflicting feelings regarding Xarelto. I began taking Xarelto yesterday with the initial "starter pack" dose of 2 15mg pills daily. Last night was miserable can be defined as sleepless due to painful "falling asleep"sensation in extremities at night. Day...

That may enable people that know a good doctor in your area to make a recommendation. Additionally, are you asking for medications right away? Last night I tripped over a leather footstool and took a good fall. I'm on 20 mg of Xeralto for DVT & PE. This afternoon I started getting dizzy. Not terribly, but still a little worrisome. What should I do? ## It would be best to have it checked out buy your doctor, or someone at the ER/Urgent Care. There is a risk that you have suffered a concussion, or are experience bleeding, which could be risky, according FDA reports. How are you feeling, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?

I had a fall, and the emergency room said to go off the med for the night to help the bleeding stop, and to follow up with cardiologist tomorrow. I did this, but the cardio did not return my call, so I am unsure if it is safe to stop it for a second day. How do you wean it down? One day on, one day off? I need the injury to heal, but dont want to risk other problems. I wsd put on yhe med for afib.. ## Hello, Cecilia! How are you? What did you end up doing? It can be risky to take too many days in a row off of this medication, without tapering, since that increases the risk of clots and adverse events. Did your cardio get in touch? In most cases, it would be best to just take the one day off, as the ER instructed and, if in doubt, call them back for further instructions.

I have been taking .5 mg xanax every night for the last 8 months to fall asleep. It actually works, but I think I'm having side effects. I used to wake up 3 times per night before Xanax, and now I sleep through the night, but I wake up exhausted and sluggish. I'm having memory problems and I don't feel alert. Am I addicted? Can I just stop, since it's such a low dose? Do I have to reduce slowly? It's only .5 mg per night. Any ideas?? HELP! ## Those are normal side effects for Xanax. When you use something regularly and your body is used to having it, it isn't considered addiction, it is actually called dependence. An addict has to keep using more and more of something, because they like the effects they get from it and must keep increasing the amount the use, bec...

I had a very bad fall on Thurs. The emergency gave me1 shot of morphine .I cannot sleep.Having wierd thoughts at night, cannot sleep. Is this still due to the meds. ## No, any side effects from a shot given that many days ago wouldn't be lingering this long. However, it could very well be a slight form of post traumatic stress. It can happen, even with small events like this and most people never recognize it for what it is, because it doesn't last longer than a week or two. It really only gets noticed when it severely affects someone's quality of life and ability to function, which is usually when it's very severe and lasts for years. You may want to give it a little more time and see if it eases off and if it doesn't, then you should seek medical. attention. Anothe...

My doctor prescribed 25 mg at bedtime. It caused terrible nightmares and I was unable to fall back asleep after. I only took it for 3 nights then threw the rest of the pills in the garbage. ## I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of the rest of those pills. A lot of prescription drugs have side effects that are unbearable. Have you talked to your doctor yet about what happened? If you experience a serious side effect, you or your doctor may send a report to the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online at fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch or by phone 1-800-332-1088. I hope this helps! ## Thanks David. I'm seeing the doctor on Thursday and will give a full report. Sometimes a side effect of a pill is worse than the disease.

I am on Ranexa for just 10 days 500 mg twice daily and each night I wake up at 2 or 3 am and cannot fall back asleep till morning. I feel exhausted already and don’t know if I can use only one tablet in the morning? I tried once to skip evening dose and slept much better. Please let me know if any sleeping pill can help and if it is safe to combine the two. Also can my body get use to it? Not being able to sleep make me feel depressed. ## How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? It would best not to change your dose of the Ranexa, or to combine it with other medications, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. It has been known to cause insomnia as a side effect in some people that take it, but it is very rare.

I occassionally like to take Melatonin to help me fall asleep. Tomorrow night I need to get to bed extra early and I know that just taking a Melatonin will not do the job. I have some leftover Ambien so I was wondering if there are any implications to taking both Ambien and Melatonin before bed tomorrow? ## There are no interactions listed, but this site is not medical professionals and not all supplements, such as Melatonin, are studied for possible interactions with medications. Why would you need to use both, anyway? I'd think it would just be wise to use the Ambien if needed and skip adding the other, just to be on the safe side. Do you have any other questions?

Why is it that I take a 10mg ambient, fall right asleep for about 2 hours then get up on and off throughout the night? ## Hello, Fran! How are you? For some people, the regular release formulation of this medication only helps them to fall asleep, but not stay asleep. However, there is a time released formulation called Ambien CR that is intended to help with that issue, so you may want ask your doctor about trying it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, sleep actions and next day hangover-like effects. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I take half of a 10mg and chew it up. If I wake up a few hours later (often because of pain) I just chew up the other half and go back to sleep.

My hair is falling out, I think I will be bald soon. I am taking Inderal/Propranolol 10 mg, 4 times a day; Omeprazole/Prilosec, once a day; Amitriptyline 50mg once at night; Ibuprofen 800mg 3 times a day...for migraines and body pain. Would any of these meds cause my hair to fall out? Thanks for any help! ## Hi, Pixie! Sorry about the hair loss. It is most likely the Inderal that is causing your hair loss, it is very common with the beta blocker medications. Learn more Inderal details here. Have you consulted your doctor? Usually it will stop and start to reverse, once you stop the medication and switch to a different one. ## Hi I have been on propranolol for nearly 2yrs and my hair has fallen out at a alarming rate! Ive been wiening myself off it as per doctors instructions (only having half a tab per night. I had my last half last Tues & hav had bad insomnia every since have only slept a few hrs some nights. Absolutely none most nights so am wondering how long this is gunna last? :( Thank you ## Hello, Tina! How are you? I'm sorry about your insomnia. That is a typical withdrawal effect, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, foggy headed feeling, diarrhea and rebound depression. It may take a month for the symptoms to entirely go away, though they should gradually improve and not be as severe. Is there anything else I can help with?
