My Dr. put me on tramadol 50mg 2 every 6hours.I was on codeine #3 but the VA pharmacy ran out and wont have them till Feb. My question is will I have any bad affects switching from codeine #3 to tramadol 50 mg thanks for your help. ## Hello, Mark! How are you? It only takes 45mgs of the Tramadol to equal each 30mgs of Codeine that you were taking, so you may actually get better pain relief from taking 100mgs of it. And the side effects should be about the same, the FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## thanks for your help. ## You are very welcome! Are there any other questions or con...

I've been taking the Tramadol/APAP 325 with Acetaminophen for many years as I have Fibromyalgia. My doctor just changed it to Tramadol 50mg. Is that stronger? I'm feeling a bit dizzy or lightheaded now. ## Hello, Carolyn! How are you? Yes, the 50mg tablet is stronger, since the combination medication is only available with 37.5mgs of Tramadol and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for the info. I was on the combo Tramadol for over 10 years. I'm blessed to not have addictive tendencies so this change is actually better since my pa...

Is tylenol 3 equal to tramadol 50 mg? I want to know the difference between the two pills and which one is more effective for pain? Thanks! ## Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, it is actually very mild, but the Tramadol is only moderately stronger. The NIH warns that both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Which one works best for you?

Hi, I have lower back pain that generates a feeling behind my knee caps like I need to stretch them. I have been on Codeine 60 MG for several years. My doctor recently prescribed Tramadol. Is it more effective for the pain I have or is my doctor trying to get me off Codeine being it is a narcotic? I had a heart attack two years ago and I am borderline Diabetic, is the Tramadol safe for me? ## Hello, Mark! How are you? Tramadol is actually stronger than Codeine, but known to cause less sedation, constipation and respiratory depression. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And as long as the prescribing doctor is aware of your medical conditions, it should be...

Is 50mg of tramadol the same as 3/325 of tramadol? ## Hi Penny, To answer your question, no, there actually isn't a 3/325mg dosage of Tramadol since those numbers refer to two separate medications and dosages. As far as dosing goes, the usual recommended dose of tramadol is 50-100 mg (immediate release tablets) every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. The maximum dose is marked at 400 mg/day. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Tramadol Details I hope this helps!

which is stronger hydroco/acetamin 5-500 or Hydroco 10-500mg? Is it the same as Vicadin? I have a large tear in my rotator cuff. I just was given the 5-500mg. They told me it was Vicadin at the doctors office. I already had a bottle mostly untouched of the 10-55 because a doctor seemed worried that it was addictive and gave me tramadol which I can't say touches the pain. ## The one with the higher amount of the Hydrocodone is stronger, since it is the narcotic and the Acetminophen just helps it to work better. Both are generics for Vicodin, Norco or Lortab. You can learn more Vicodin details here. Another note that needs to be added here is that as of 2013, the FDA has made a request that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination prescription products ...

Getting back to tramadol and suboxone... I was put on tramadol hcl 50mg by my primary doctor. He started me out with 3 tramadol daily, now he dropped it to 2 a day. My question is, he said it was safe to take w/ my suboxone (i've been on sub about 15 years for opiate addiction), and he said Tramadol is the only pain med that you can take (strong enough to give my lower back some relief) and safe to take w/ the suboxone. But i think I'm now dependent on the tram, i get the sweats, body aches, all the same withdrawal as w/ opiates, and i still take my suboxone which don't seem to bother me. But know i take anywhere from 15 to 20 tramadols per day, I'm supposed to take 3 suboxone per day, but i'm only taking 1. Please help, i have a lower back injury and my doctor who l...

I was prescribed Tramadol by my primary physician for years. I was in a motor vehicle accident and was rear-ended by a heavy duty truck (cement mixer). It caused severe back pain and sciatica. My pain is constant. I was able to live my life while on tramadol. Then the opioid scare hit and my physician told me she could no longer prescribe them and offered no help to get me of them. Isn't it the obligation of the physician to wean the patient off or offer an alternative? I did not want to take anything stronger because I could not function. My physician gave me the name of a pain clinic but did nothing to assist me in getting an appointment. I called them and the soonest appointment is 2 months out. I have been thru hell going from taking two 50 mg tablets 3 times a day to nothing. I...

I'm taking 500 mg naproxen and 2each apap/codiene #3 300/30 for sciatic nerve pain. I'm Still in Pain! What can I take in addition to this combination without putting myself in further health risks? (I have Tramadol, Alieve and arthritis strength Tylenol on hand) ## Hello, Frances! How are you? Are you sure that it's sciatic? It's kind of funny, but given all of my knowledge of medications, side effects, and etc. I didn't know until recently, when my husband mentioned it, that sometimes the sacral area is thought to be related to the same area, and he was right. Totally changed how I handle the pain. As to the medications, given how much you've already taken, you need to consult your doctor, because it looks like you might need a stronger medication to alleviate ...

I we recently put on an antidepressant called Brintellix 10mg. However i have been on tramadol 50mg 2x a day for over 2 years and 300mg gabapentin 3x a day for 2 years. As well as norco 7.5 3x day. I've only been on brintellix a week and nervous that maybe that's too much serotonin medicine. Does that make sense? ## Yes, it does make sense and it is a possible risk. Serotonin syndrome can be very dangerous. Have you had any other symptoms aside from the tiredness? The main concern is the Tramadol with the Brintellilx, mixing them does carry a strong warning about the possible dangers and advises that alternative medications be used. ## I take similar meds as you. Been on Brintellix 10 mg a few weeks, also 100 mg Zoloft (down from 200mg). I stopped tapering off Zoloft because I f...

I had a back surgery 17 years ago. that was not successful. My Neurosurgeon prescribed my 2 tabs of ULTRAM 50 with 2 tylenols, every 4 hours. For 15 years Ultram helped my pain. During the last two years, ULTRAM is not helping as good. TRAMADOL is useless for me. I need some equally strong pain killer as ULTRAM 50 mg. ## Hello, Karnail! How are you? Ultram contains Tramadol as the active ingredient, so they are the same thing. However, there is a higher dosage available that you may want to ask your doctor about trying. It is available in 100mg tablets, as well as the 50mg ones. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does this medication help with Endomitious pain? I'm stuck in Mexico for business and I was given this medication but I'm used to taking 50mg tramadol 2pills 3 times a day. So I'm thinking this med won't be strong enough. ## Hello, Kiki! How are you? Dolac contains the active ingredient Ketorolac, which is an NSAID, but it is the strongest one available. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. And before taking it, you should consult your doctor and follow their instructions. Since this is an NSAID, there are some potential risks associated with taking it, which is why it requires a prescription in most countries. When will you be back in the states to see your doctor?

What is the difference between tramadol hcl 50 mg and oxycodone 30 mg tablets ## Tramadol is a centrally acting analgesic of the opioid class, but it is not classified as a narcotic. It really doesn't work as well as the actual narcotics do, for some people. Oxycodone is an actual narcotic and is much stronger and more effective for a lot of people. Since they do share similar characteristics, the side effects that they both can cause are very similar and can include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness. Are there any other questions?

How does a 100 mg sr tab compare to a 500 vicodin, since they both have opiode and acitemiephine? Are they similar in amount of opiode? ## Hello, ZannieMan! How are you? A 100mg Tramazac SR tablet only contains Tramadol and not Acetaminophen. It is actually much weaker than Vicodin, the Hydrocodone in it is much stronger, especially coupled with the Acetaminophen. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

What is stronger and how do these 2 drugs compare.....10/325 hydrocodone vs. tramadol 50 mg ## You really can't compare them, since they aren't in the same drug classes. The Hydrocodone in the Vicodin/Lortab is a potent narcotic analgesic. But the Tramadol is just a centrally acting analgesic, though it is derived from an opiate, it is nowhere near as strong and effective as the opiate narcotic class. Both can be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Vicodin details here and you can learn more Tramadol details here. Which one has been prescribed for you?

It might be 50mg Tramadol. Mine have no matkings at all. Tramadol is an opiate, stronger than Codeine, but weaker than Morphine. I take 8 capsules a day, 2 every six hours for a trapped nerve in my hand. I am an over 50 male of about 200 lbs. so my dose might be way too much for say a teneager or a woman. ## Mike, My daughter has same problem as you have and she finally tried acupuncture and it helped. Every few years problem tries to re occur and she goes for acupuncture and problem again is resolved. ## Hi Mike, I believe you are right about the pill in question. The closest match I could find is Tramadol 50 mg. Also, I agree that acupuncture would be a great and natural way to treat your nerve pain. I have a problem with a nerve in my left foot and I have had good results from acupun...

round white AN 627 ## I located the pill to be Tramadol hydrochloride (50 mg). Tramadol is used for treating moderate to moderately severe pain. The drug has a wide range of applications, including treatment for restless leg syndrome, acid reflux, and fibermyosis. For information about this drug, please refer to the link below... If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to help you. ## Can I buy these over the counter? Is there anything stronger? ## Hi David, No, Tramadol is available by prescription only (in the U.S); I'm not aware of other country's rules and regulations on certain prescriptions. Depending on where you are located, you'd have to do some research to see its availability. I would think the strongest over-the-counter pa...

Will a 75 mcg/hr fentanyl patch help with dilaudid withdrawal? ## Tramadol 50 mg x 2 tablets is the only thing that works for me when I can't find a pharmacy to fill my Dilaudid. I have heard it helps with Oxy and other pain reliever withdrawals. The stupid Commonwealth of Kentucky has outlawed Tramadol and Lyrica is highly regulated because it helps with withdrawals. Yes, they are living in the stone age. So, Tramadol must work for others as well. Your doctor should prescribe it, it is available at any pharmacy, doesn't help that much with the pain, but you won't get sick. ## Fentanyl is much stronger, so that would actually be the wrong direction to go. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

I really apperiate it. ## thank you so much roy ## My ex gave me her TRAMADOL HCL 50 mg which were giving her too many side effects to see if it would work for my back. Good thing I check it out! Too many contraindications for me to take. Such as if you have used another strong pain reliever, anxiety or mood disorder med, definitely no alcohol, WILL cause dependency and withdrawal problems. In Canada I was taking an extra strength robaxacet for extreme lower back pain due to an old work injury. I am currently staying in Mexico and did not bring enough with me. Does anyone know if there is anything here that will work the same? I am in extreme pain every day when I wake up and can't bend what so ever. If anybody knows of a similar product or even something better I could find here that would be a great help. ## Tramadol 100mg... Take 2 2x day. (400mg). They work. I truly believe Tramadol in Mexico is stronger than in the US. They also come in 50 mg capsules. They also have 100mg injectable available. 50 pesos for 5 viles. Every pharmacy has a different pill call Tramadol. Crazy I know. They are strong. Be careful because they are extremely addictive. I had both my knees...
