My mom was given Acyclovir 800 mg to take 5 times a day. What does that mean??? ## 24/5=4.8 hours or 288 minutes or 4 hours & 48 minutes ## Your math is right, but should we take the number of waking hours and divide by 5 rather than the entire 24 hour period? So accounting for sleep, 16 hours awake / 5 times = 3.2, so about every 3.5 hours? Update - I looked up the Acyclovir dosage guidelines on DailyMed, and it states "800 mg every 4 hours orally, 5 times daily for 7 to 10 days." ... So it seems like somewhere in the middle of both of our answers lol

However, "as needed" means that you don't necessarily have to abide by that regimen if you don't feel the need to take it as often. Unless the instructions say it's to be taken on an as needed basis, if that is the case, then your doctor may think they should last longer. The FDA defines PRN in a very similar manner. Hello, this is my first post. I took Viagra for 20 years with excellent results. Suddenly it quit working. So I tried 15 mg Cialis, and it worked great after about 8 hours. I was a raging bull for about 3-4 days. The following week, I lowered the dose to 10 mg and.....nothing, zero after 8 hours. My new girlfriend was so disappointed that I don't think she will ever come back. The next morning, about 18 hours after taking the 10 mg Cialis, it kicked in. I am taking Skelaxin. The bottle says take one pill 3 times a day as needed. Is that 6 hours or 8 hours in between each dose? I take 1mg of Ativan and Stilnox before heading to bed. I have a habit of having a glass of wine 4 hours prior to taking the meds. Is that enough time to get all the alcohol out of my system before the benzodiazepines kick in? How many can I take at a time how many hours in between ## Hi Julie, According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, dosing for Teva 832 (otherwise known as Clonazepam 0.5 mg) is actually dependent upon the reason why you're taking it. They list different dosing and administrative protocols based on whether or not you're using it for panic attacks or seizures, and then narrow it down from there. So it sounds like you may just need to talk with your doctor first before moving forward with treatment. I'm surprised the pharmacist didn't bother to give you a run down on how to take it either. My husband has cancer stage 4. His Dr has prescribed him morphine sulfate 1 pill every 12 hrs & Oxycodone 1 pill every 4 hrs.
