I am currently on my first week of Qsymia. I need someone's honest opinion and I will ask my doctor too once I see her again. I am not a big drinker at all but when I go on vacation I do get a couple of drinks here and then or maybe once a day. It's my vacation and I want to enjoy it. Am I going to die if I have a drink or 2 or would you recommend stopping the medication for the week and half I am on vacation? ## Hi Steph, According to umm.edu's drug interaction tool, drinking alcohol while taking Qysmia is not recommended as it may increase or decrease blood levels of topiramate (one of the active ingredients in Qysmia) potentially resulting in more side effects and/or a less effective dose. They also goes on to note that the combination of alcohol and topiramate may cause ...

I've never taken oxycodone/acetaminophen 7.5/325 in my life until yesterday for pain. I took a total of 1 3/4 pills total and don't plan on taking any more. I took 1/2 pill at 10 am, another 1/2 at 2 pm, 1/2 at bedtime and this morning I cut the remaining 1/2 pill in half and took that at 7 am. When would it be safe to drink wine? It is now 12 hours after I took the last 1/4 pill. ## Hello, Olivia! How are you? After 12 hours it should fine, but it would be best to double check with your pharmacist to be certain. The main reason you are told not to drink with it is due to the way alcohol tends to worsen the side effects, which can include depression of the central nervous system. In some cases, if someone indulges in too much of either one, there is a risk of death, according to...

I take 1mg of Ativan and Stilnox before heading to bed. I have a habit of having a glass of wine 4 hours prior to taking the meds. Is that enough time to get all the alcohol out of my system before the benzodiazepines kick in? I know that I should never drink after taking the meds but if it's the other way around, drink first and meds later, the time required is shorter because ethanol metabolizes in the body roughly 1-2 hrs per drink. Am I right? ## Hi Layhoma, From what I've read, the body can metabolize about a quarter ounce of alcohol per hour and in retrospect, one serving of alcohol may be fully absorbed into the bloodstream within a matter of 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption. However, there are several factors that can influence whether or not it's out of your ...

Since taking Victoza I feel like my stomach is digesting alcohol differently. I feel like I have a hangover the next day even if I just have a few drinks. ## Hello, Terry! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Likely, it is due to 2 issues, the first issue, which I am not sure you are aware of is that alcohol can lower your blood sugar levels, thus when you drink, it could be making it drop too low. Have you ever checked your levels, after having a few drinks? The next issue is that alcohol can enhance the side effects of a medication, so you may experience more nausea, dizziness and drowsiness than usual, after having a few drinks, as reported by the FDA. So, there is probably good reasons why you feel that way. Most medications, when combined with alcohol, ca...

I have been on razo 20 for the past two months cause i was diagnosed with acute chronic gastric during the first month i dont not consume any alcohol. from the second month on i have been consuming alcohol. Is it alright to consume alcohol??? what are the side effect???? ## Actually, if you're going to drink alcohol, you're wasting your time and money taking the medication. Alcohol is very harsh on your stomach and the rest of your gastrointestinal system, so it's really just defeating the purpose of taking the Razo. Do you also watch what you eat? If not, then your problem isn't going to improve.

Drinking on Eliquis can cause bleeding, is drinking five or six drinks in one night worse than drinking one drink, every night? ## can you have an occasional drink while on eliquis? ## @John and Sandi, According to drug interaction reports from two different webpages, including umm.edu, there are no drug interactions listed between Alcohol and Eliquis (apixaban). That said, if you are concerned about any potential discrepancies, I would encourage you to contact your doctor first in order to make the most informed decision about having alcohol. However in my opinion, using proper judgement for moderation and responsible consumption are always important factors whether you're drinking alcohol by itself or with any meds. I hope this helps! ## Eliquis a blood thinner is a "NARROW TH...

I was just wondering if anyone has drank with this med and were there any side effects? I've been on lexapro 10 mg for a month and am feeling great but I am petrified to even attempt to drink alcohol, but would like to try. So if anyone could help that would be great. ## I have been on Lexapro for 3 years. I drink about twice a week and everything seems to be fine. I have noticed that if you drink heavly for a few nights in a row you will feel a slight depression. Just don't over do it. I was worried at first also. ## Lexapro is an antidepressant. Drinking alcohol is not recommended, as alcohol is a major depressant, and undoes the work the medication does. ## Never do that! I was on that medicine for 2 years, and I was never able to drink! the first time I drank when I was on l...

I've been on 10mg of Brintellix for 3 weeks now after a week of taking 5mgs. Initially the nausea was bad in the morning, but that has recently improved a lot. My experience so far is that it has drastically reduced my anxiety spikes and it's incredible to no longer be at the mercy of those horrible gripping pangs in my solar plexus. I used to drink quite a lot of wine over weekends because I found it helped with my social anxiety (despite facing the consequences of malaise the following day!) But did not feel the urge to have any wine this weekend and was not as much in need of something to relax and enjoy myself. My boyfriend complained that I was a bit of a zombie the first week or so, but I feel increasingly sharper and more able to think on my feet and remember stuff. So far I

I know I am not suppose to drink alcohol while on this medication but I have a party to go to. Is it ok to stop taking the med a day before and pick back up the day after the party? ## Drinking alcohol, while taking this medication can cause an increase of side effects, so you may feel more nauseous, dizzy and drowsy than usual. Learn more Neurontin details here. And people that take it for mood disorders or seizures can basically defeat the purpose of Neurontin, since the alcohol puts them at risk. Thus, it is best not to imbibe while taking it and not to skip doses of your medication, but if you feel you must, check with your doctor first regarding the safety and make sure that you won't be driving or operating any heavy machinery, while under the influence. Are there any other qu...

I've recently started bupropion, it's been a few weeks. I think I experienced every single side effect the drug had over the first few days but all is good now. I'm not depressed, nor do I have anxiety. I was actually hoping that maybe it'd make me happier but it hasn't done a single thing to my mood or drive; positive or by negative. I started taking it to quit smoking and I really enjoy it more than chantex as the drug makes me make the decision to stop smoking. It's decreased my cravings and side effects of quitting. I've noticed also that I have a dramatically reduced urge to drink. Even if I begin drinking I don't over do it, but typically I just have no interest in drinking. I find this amazing because, not that I'd admit it publicly, but I thin...

The first four hours were awesome. l felt perky and had energy and finished one thing before going to he next. But 4 hours into the use I begin experiencing really bad withdrawal symptoms like when i had a short but awful battle with coke addiction 25 years and no slips. quit drinking alcohol 6.5 yrs ago. Any suggestions? i really am not ready to quit taking it because it feels if i get the jonesing feeling to away it will be better. ## Hello, Debi! How are you? Phentermine is actually used to aid in weight loss, not for treating ADHD. If you need something for that, you may do better with the time released Adderall XR. It's also a psychostimulant, but approved to treat ADHD and, since it's time released, you may not get the same withdrawal symptoms from it wearing off. Side eff...

I am going to a reunion on nov.11th.and i take 900mg.of neurontin and 225mg.of lyrica per day, for 3 months.if I want to drink 5-6 beers at reunion could I stop taking these drugs for 2 days and get it out of my system, so I can safely drink at my reunion ## You can do that, if you wish, but you should consult with your doctor, first. Alcohol can also have a detrimental effect on some medical conditions, so you need to be certain it is safe for you to drink it. Are you taking them for pain or some other condition? In the case of these medications, you are warned against using alcohol, because it can aggravate the side effects, such as nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and CNS depression. ## If your same PCP is giving you Neurontin and Lyrica then he needs his credentials looked over. I've been prescribed lisinopril 10mg for hypertension but I'm reluctant to start taking it. I've read the side effects and lots of things are worrying me. Will I become too hypotensive after the first dose? Will I still wake up the next morning? Will I constantly experience dizziness? Can I drink alcohol? Will I end up with kidney failure? Will I develop a cough? Are there alternatives? ## There are risks to taking any medication, however, it is a much greater risk to let your hypertension continue uncontrolled, because it is guaranteed to cause serious health problems and possibly death. Lisinopril works well for many people, with no serious side effects and there are always others, like myself, that are sensitive to it and experience bad side effects and must switch to som...

i want to know about this diet pill and all of its side effects ## want to know everything about this diet pill. ## Sorry, this is not a prescription medication, and over the counter meds are not regulated as strictly as prescriptions, so finding information about them and their side effects is not easy. I even tried doing a google search and could come up with nothing on it, sorry. ## I am currently taking Bethel's S30. The first time I felt a little nauseas and dry mouth. Is this a fatal combination? If i started drinking heavily and the injested this amount, would it be deadly? ## Hi Savanagh, yes, this combination of drugs and alcohol can be deadly. Are you depressed and having problems? Nothing and no one is worth taking your life. Please, talk with your doctor about what's going on in your life and how you feel. A medical professional can help you with your problems. ## Ingesting that much clonazepam and Ambien is just suicide. Drinking alcohol with a benzodiazepine will result in death. You will most likely go into respiratory arrest then cardiac arrest. ## It would be fatal even without alcohol. ## First I am concerned that you would ask about such incredibly high doses of medication. Ambien should not be taken in more than 10 mg. No GOOD MD wou...

I am a 25 year old female. I had been taking topamax (25mg in the morning and 25mg at night) for about three months for migraine prevention until four days ago. When I first began taking it I realized that I had a few side effects that were easy to find online. These included dizziness, tingling in the hands, feet, and face, as well as a change in the taste of coke (flat and nasty). I also noticed that the effects of drinking alcohol were exacerbated and led to a migraine each time. But besides those two migraines from drinking I did not have any other migraines, which was the only pro about taking this medication. About a month ago things got really bad for me. I began having severe pain in my upper abdomen on the left side where my stomach is. I also could not eat much since eating ma...
