I'm on Augmentin twice a day. I was just wondering if there is anything else I can do to speed things up to get rid of this ear infection? ## Not really, you just need to give the antibiotic time to do its work. Do doxytet work in curing ear infections if not wat can I get? ## Oral antibiotics can work, but they are generally not as fast and effective as the liquid antibiotics drops that you actually put in the ear. I have taken one 150mg Fluconazole tablet to treat a yeast infection as a result of taking antibiotics. On the last night of taking my antibiotic I was in so much discomfort that I decided to take a Fluconazole to treat the thrush on the same night. I took my last antibiotic around (7pm and the Fluconazole much later at night before going to bed.) The symptoms have improved slightly within the last three days but I am still experiencing a very watery large amount of white discharge and red/soreness in that area. The Fluconazole I was prescribed had the instructions written by the pharmicist saying "Take one immediately and one in a week if required." Can Doxycycline be used to treat a middle ear infection? This is my second round of antibiotics. Was given Cefdinir first for 7 days & it helped but the infection is still hanging around. Hello, my son was prescribed Antipyrine-benzocaine war drops in 2/2015. I had it put away sealed tight I poured some in my hand to check for any discoloration and looks clear as the first day we use. He is complaining of ear pain and I was just wondering if I can still use these drops since the expiration date is for 10/2016 which is this month? ## Hello, Tita! How are you? Had an ear infection for many years now, (6 years)which flares up every now and then. Go to the Doctors and get antibiotics, drops etc but it still comes BACK! my 6 yr old has an ear infection that wont go away. he has tried several antibiotics. i wld like to no of a good and strong antibiotic that he can use. ## This may be something to talk to your doctor about, given your son's age. I do know that Amoxicillin is commonly prescribed for ear infections, and in most cases it gets the job done. In combination with an antibiotic, I would recommend infusing garlic with unrefined organic olive oil and rubbing that on the infected ear. Also another natural remedy would be putting warmed up rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and put it in the ear for roughly 15 minutes. A lot of people find this method to be very effective. I was on ciprofloxin for a persistant ear infection, I felt good while on the antibiotics but now they have finished I feel generally lethargic, a upset stomach and a slight ear ache. Could this just be an after effect as the antibiotics wear off, because of damage to my immune system? ## this site is not medical professionals, so it is impossible for us to say with any certainty. I just got off zpack about a week ago and before that i had taken penicillin vk 500mg. I have had an ear infection for a few months. It comes and goes. Had one course of antibiotics, but it's back again. I am trying Amox-Clav. I've taken amoxicillin 875mg twice a day for 21 days. I started out with a bad sinus infection and ear infection. I have swelling in my face on one side and feel like my ears are sounding like I'm in a tunnel and in pain. I have 10 pills. It says take twice a day. Also prescribed 5mg oxycodone tabs for pain. I had a tooth taking out and then dry socket and now a terrible infection around the next tooth. Pain into my ear and throat. I was on Amoxicillin for over 2 weeks and it is not doing anything.
